  1. Dirty f***er Anyway yeah Gomis instead of Bent. I'd rather take a risk on a player who might be good than buy a player I already know doesn't offer what we need. Goals? He'll only give us goals if we build a team around him and give him lots of chances. At the expense of being a man down, because he does fuck all else. We don't tend to create that many chances with 10 outfield players let alone 9 and frankly us building our side around Darren Bent makes me feel physically sick. He's just not what we need IMO (unless he's a Shola replacement).

  3. Well that isn't actually a fact, let's see if it happens first.
  4. Grass is always greener and all that but Swansea are definitely a (if not the) shining light in how run a PL club so IMO it's totally understandable. I can understand it to a degree. But then again a little over a year ago people were talking about us as one of the shining lights in how to run a Premier League club. Very little money spent on some exciting players picked up by our scouting network. Attacking Football and pushing for a Champions League spot with a manager being talked about as a potential England candidate. Thats what plenty saw and reported looking in from a distance anyway. Little did they know that while some of that was true it wasn't all rosy in the garden. Not suggesting Swansea will bring in a lunatic to undermine their manager or that Laudrup will suddenly become the Danish Pardew. Just that sometimes things aren't quite as amazing as they look from outside and things can also change fast.
  5. But doesn't Ashley also own the holding company? So in essence he owes himself that amount? I'm confused. Bottom line. If Ashley leaves then he can ask for that money back which is putting off potential suitors? Correct? Its not so much about asking for any money owed, he can just ask any fee he wants for the club, I mean he owns it after all. What he paid for the club plus what he's invested (and hasn't yet been repaid) currently comes to somewhere around £250m.

    Darren Bent

He's a clear downgrade imo. Does even less for the team, has no ability to produce outside the area and is one and a half years older. No its not as bad as signing Carlton Cole, but as anything other than a backup he's still a pretty terrible signing. Unless it's a case of a short term replacement for Cisse if he's determined to leave. Still in that case I'd rather go for a different kind of striker than have to downgrade.

    Darren Bent

Really?, are you sure? Because I wasnt aware that I wanted that.
  8. Agree with this for the most part. Think we're bargain hunting this summer unless we cash in on Cisse, Cabaye, etc. Its ridiculous and an absolute joke a club of our stature is rummaging in bargain bins and not utilising the extra TV revenue...FFS southampton and swansea have just spent 12.5 and 13m on a player. We should not only be able to compete but outmuscle these teams in the transfer market I have just lost all interest in this football club recently and im just full of apathy.. we all know its going to be a shit season knocked out of both cups early and a few spankings along the way. and the same old shite excuses will be rolled out The extra TV money is due next year. Obviously some clubs are willing to spend what they don't yet have, but for better or worse its been clear forever and a day that Ashley isn't. Not saying we shouldn't be willing to within reason, just so many people seem to believe this extra TV money has already been paid. I think what we spend this summer will come down to whatever revenue we have left for the year after expenses, what players we sell or what bargains come up (think we're always willing to spend something from future revenue if its seen as a bargain).

    Darren Bent

If this is in reply to my post then yeah I know Bent can score goals. Its the suggestion that Cisse wouldn't that I found idiotic. As far as Bent goes I've always made my opinion on him clear. Excellent finisher, if he gets lots of chances in the penalty area. In every other way he's a millstone around a teams neck.

    Shola Ameobi

There was a season under Souness were he made 45 appearances (scored 7 goals..)

    Darren Bent

You mean sell a striker who misses from 5 yards and replace him with two strikers who can score goals? Fucking might catch on this logic.

    Alan Pardew

New TV cash is next year. As far as net spend since 2006, yeah we're about £3-4m into negative spend.
  13. Well if you mean we're short in some areas then yeah obviously. Just the way you put it read to me like we've got a squad full of shit not capable of playing in this division. I'd say he's got 18, but I still agree with everything else you said.
  14. Oh yeah, it was only Pardews tactical genius that kept this rag tag bunch of Championship Footballers in the league last season after all..
  15. What would backing him properly entail? If you mean allowing Carr ect to bring in more quality players for him, I agree. But if we're talking about allowing Pardew to spend the clubs money on his backward vision for the club then I don't.
  16. I'm saying if we sell Shola than even with Remy and Bent coming in we would need another forward as we would be weak in cover. I don't know like, Cisse, Gouffran and Shola is very weak. But Cisse, Remy, Gouffran and Bent looks far far stronger (Though I suspect under Pardew it'll be Bent and 3 others unfortunately). . Mainly because Shola adds nothing at all, while as a sub even Bent adds something and Remys a quality forward.

    Sunderland

Why? You just fancy bloating the wage bill and wasting transfer funds for absolutely no reason? Everyone wants to sign players, but they should be players that improve us, otherwise it's just signings for the sake of it. So far I'd take one player Sunderland have signed, I wouldn't be excited by him in the slightest, but I'd be ok with the signing (talking about Altidore).
  18. Darren Fucking Bent is his number 1 target.. A 29 year old who was deemed not good enough to play for a seriously relegation threatened team desperate for goals last season. A man with less Footballing ability than your average horse. But never mind, he'll score goals if you put them on a plate. We should have no problem doing that with 10 men behind the ball and Ben Arfa on his own fucking goal line for 90 minutes.

    Sunderland

Did anyone say it will change? Thought people were just saying our squad of players is of a higher quality than Sunderlands, which I'd agree with.

    Papiss Cissé

By the way, this has come from Lee Ryder, so the likelihood of it being true is actually less now than it was before he said it.

    Sunderland

You reckon Sanogo's going to get anywhere near Arsenal's first team?
  23. The fact that value is a massive part of who we sign is obvious, but little to do with our signings not fitting Pardews "tactics". That happens because Pardew has very little say in the players we sign. Even if we went for the top players on Carr's list at any cost I seriously doubt those players would fit Pardews plans any better. I don't think Andy Carrol and Razor Ruddock would be top of Carr's list.

    Alan Pardew

What does that even mean? You mean the people who didn't rate his managerial record, disliked his style of football and saw it as completely unsustainable and inevitably saw his shortcomings brought to light. Proper "hipster" that, judging someone on their managerial ability Well im guessing we all pretty much looked in disgust when Pardew was announced and he admitted himself he had the fans to win over. He won me over and a fair few more but you still had that certain section that even after a 5th place finish wasn't good enough and we were still shit and Pardew needed to go, so you're never going to win them ones over. However the people who enjoyed the success of a 5th place finished, looked forward to Europe and generally felt excited to push on but only to be let down by a horrific season, now seemingly hate Pardew again like he first arrived. Those are the fans that i'm not sure will fall in the same trap again if he does have another successful season. Holding hands up and saying Pards has done well for a second time isn't something i can see fans doing easily. I think everyone enjoyed finishing 5th and I don't think anyone denied he'd done well overall. But some people could still see the problems coming, that's all. There were certain warning signs that season of what a clueless coward the man is (wolves 2:2 was a prime example*). But yeah the people he did win over completely will be harder to win over a second time, and with good reason. * 2-1 obviously but without an incorrect decision they would have equalised.
