Well Derby fans don't seem to think they were awful, from looking at their forums, and they probably watch Derby play more than you do

Why would it have to be based entirely on his playing career? Its not like he's just finished playing or has been just a pundit since he did. He's been working at Many City in various roles including as a manager for the last few years. Fair enough its just the youth side but he does have some experience and what people say about him as a coach is very positive. It wouldn't hurt that he was a massive name as a player of course, but it wouldn't be the only reason to give him a chance.

UK subscriptions alone bring in somewhere between £5-6 billion per year, Skybet is a pretty small piece of their business at around £120m per year.

Is he not one of Carr's scouts/contacts though? Who know's, with so many people involved its hard to know who to congratulate/blame for each signing.

Think overall the quality of signings was good last window, the problem was we didn't sign enough players in the most important positions, but is that Carr's fault? I'm not sure, would have thought he identifies several players in positions he's asked about and perhaps is part of the process of signing them. But certainly doesn't get to sign whoever he wants or decide on the overall budget. I mean Perez and Janmaat were class signings, and I still think De Jong and Cabella will turn out as very good signings as well. Ok Riviere is shit, but overall the quality and value of the players brought in was very good. We just needed more money made available for more players so we wouldn't be left so short in certain positions. It is definitely worrying in one way to hear that Carr is championing McClaren (if true). Though in another way it could be the only positive we end up with if McClaren does come in. The knowledge that the manager/head coach will see eye to eye with one of the main people bringing players in, unlike Pardew who quite obviously didn't have the same mind set as Carr or anyone else above him when it came to signings "Mapou who?, I wanted James Facking Tompkins!"

Allardyce is the king of boring Football, might do ok there but very few fans have managed to put up with him long term. Sunderland fans celebrate finishing 17th at the moment because they keep escaping after being seemingly dead and buried. The first 90% of the season they're horrendous and expectations go through the floor, then when they manage to win 5 or 6 at the end to keep them up they see them as hero's. Forgetting that it was these fuckers who put them in this position to begin with! I wonder, if they're comfortably 13th-14th never quite getting dragged into any real fight but never challenging for anything either, whether they might start to get higher expectations.

A week ago people were saying "I don't like McClaren but since it seems to be just him or Carver I'll give him a chance", expectations were at an all time low. If this is all just PR then its moronic, it just makes it clear to everyone that we do have some very realistic choices far better than McClaren, peoples hopes and expectations are being brought back up. So when McClaren is finally brought in nobody will be even remotely happy with it. I mean it may be all bollocks, but its a utterly stupid move by Ashley and co if it is.

Couldn't think of anyone worse from that Arsenal era though :-) Grimandi Garde. According to people around at the time Garde was pretty essential to Arsenal in Wengers early years their, even if he was quite unspectacular as a player.

Well they've had a better manager than us for the majority of the last 6 or so years so its nowt new, they'll still manage to be shit.
-
There was a time when I'd have believed nufc.com ahead of most others, but I'm not sure if they really know much these days.

Aye lets leave talk of Tiote where it belongs: http://www.newcastle-online.org/nufcforum/index.php/topic,94045.0.html

I do think that if a decent coach got in there and got him back to basics he could still be very useful. However he's been a complete liability for us recently and when he was in the side I was begging for him to be dropped so I can't say he's been missed, not on current form.

Not sure what that has to do with Carver like.. I mean Vieira working under those clowns probably would end up as a disaster, just like any coach who isn't a arse licking unambitious twat. But its a different kind of situation to Carver, who is all up for doing and saying whatever Ashley wants, but is just a fucking horrendous manager. If it comes to a choice between choosing a manager who can put up with Ashley and co, lick their arses 24/7 and shit all over the fans with a smile on their face like Pardew and Carver or a manager who might fall out with Ashley and co I'll choose the second option every time. What are you talking about, man? Honestly, has this place had some sort of social glue sniffing day over the weekend or what. I give up. It's like trying to teach latin to Mackems, this. Blatantly obvious what'll happen if Patrick Vieira take the job. I'm well aware of why it likely wouldn't work with Vieira under Ashley, like I just said if you bothered reading.. Its your comparison to Carvers situation here that's so baffling.

Still Garde at the top of the list for me. Seems like an intelligent young manager who wants his side to pass and move and knows how to get them to do it. Laudrup seems like a good coach but I'm weary of all the reports of him just not really giving a shit when he was at Swansea. Vieira is unproven, but would surely command respect and at least there'd be some excitement that he might be really good. McClaren is just boring and a bit shit, better than Carver or Pardew but has to be dead last choice for me. Garde Vieira Laudrup McClaren

12th in the Premier League as far as competitive trophies won.
-
Big sponsors?, like who?
-
What amazes me most here isn't the link with Vieira but the fact some people initially questioned whether he would be better than John Carver
-
Why is our wage bill above the Premier League average then?

Just when I thought I couldn't dislike Sissoko anymore than I already do..

He'll be one of the most hated men in their history if he stays there long enough.
-
Yep he's the man in possession, therefore the choice if/until we are told otherwise. Should have been sacked by now, just comical how much of a lack of any footballing knowledge the Owner and MD have, no excuse for him still being associated with this club 3 days after the end of the season. This completely. No other club in existence would still have employed such a clueless inept cunt with an appalling record. As soon as the season was finished he should have publicly executed Contrast this to Real Madrid. The guy that delivers la decimal is sacked because he had the temerity to only finish 2nd and reach the semis this year Contrast this to Watford. The guy who won 21 of his 36 games in charge...dumped because he asked for a pay rise Carver...rewarded for being the worst manger this club has ever seen. It beggars belief To be fair that one isn't a great example, its the kind of thing we'd do and be crucified for, penny pinching. But aye you're completely right about this bunch of clowns, clearly the worst Football board on the planet. So bad that its hard to believe they aren't doing it deliberately, I mean I know they aren't, but its just baffling how wrong they are at almost every Football related decision.

Nice text in the url like but the article itself is quite shit.
-
But he already absolved himself of blame in his interview yesterday. Good for him, he can be the one bloke who isn't after his blood because he knows it isn't his fault.. meanwhile everyone else will be blaming him (well other than the odd lunatic).
-
Don't believe he'll get it. If he does it'll only make things worse for Ashley and strengthen the position of the Ashley out campaign though.
