Was just watching more Ronaldo highlights from his time at Barca and it made me think about what a Ronaldo-Owen partnership would have looked like circa 97-99. Would have just been an incredible selection of pace and skill, a lot of Michael Owen and Ronaldo highlights from that time display scoring aptitude on very similar types of goals.

The problem with Bolton is the fanbase. Their expectations are incredibly high due to a hangover from the Allardyce era. Most Bolton fans will be dead by the next time that anyone has Bolton playing European football again(if it actually ever happens), but they still expect to be a midtable Premiership team. They're a midtable Championship side at best, but the fans don't act like it. Megson did well to keep them in the Prem as long as he did.

I thought Redknapp's comments about this were very telling, he basically said that it was up to the club to find a new owner with plenty of money in order to survive. Even managers now realize that football clubs can't be run like businesses to be successful, and that someone has to personally fund the path to trophies from their own private income. The days of self-sustaining clubs run by local interests are long, long gone (unless you're Barca), and even managers know this now.

Nah Ranger has probably had more controls and layoffs in under 3 touches in this game than Shola has in his whole career. They resemble each other in stature and running gait, but little else. Plus they're both black.
