Maybe I worded it wrong but dropping a player will affect their confidence and Howe doesn’t want to do that. He’s giving him opportunities to get up to speed but Elanga’s not taking them except for one assist. There comes a point the team being under pressure due to the ball being lost continually becomes too much. For me we’ve reached that point. I hope he turns it around but when he can barely control the ball or take a pass in his stride isn’t inspiring confidence. A player has to show something to believe in him when he’s not performing. Let’s forget about mazy dribbles, defence splitting passes or crosses delivered to the heads of attackers. If he could do the basics of football well like receive a ball under pressure, protect it and release a pass to a teammate to allow us to recycle possession I’d take that as something to build upon. He’s not even doing that.

The rejections from memory were for the Isak replacement which were Ekitike and Sesko, can’t recall any other. Don’t think we even bid for Mbeumo once he stated it was Man U only for him.

Exactly, can’t destroy all the good work done so far to make an underperforming player feel good about himself. He’s relegated to the bench and if that doesn’t work for him then a loan with an obligation.

We still managed to get six big deals sorted (Woltemade, Elanga, Thiaw, Ramsey, Wissa and Ramsdale). For me they were capable of getting things done despite Mitchell bailing, they just went for the wrong type of players (namely Elanga and Ramsey). Obviously the Mitchell situation was a hinderance but I don’t think it was that big.

Think Eddies taken us as far as he can and I’m not basing that on today’s game. -poor with the ball most games, players look like they’ve never done any passing drills. -intensity of a few seasons back made up for the lack of technical ability has gone -opposition players run through our midfield and we don’t tackle or close them down -midfield sits too deep and one good pass and players are running at our defence. -Poor at set pieces. -Poor signings like Elanga and Ramsey he signed off on. Im not advocating sacking him mid season but I think the hierarchy should start planning for the future. Sorry if that offends but you get judged by your current performance and it’s not been good enough. We’ve spent serious money in recent years so the “remember where we were under Ashley” defence doesn’t wash. I hope he does turn the performances around and if he does opinions can change. Still rooting for him but club loyalty comes before loyalty to any individual.

He needs to open his eyes as athletes like Elanga who he chased for two seasons who can’t keep the ball under pressure or pass piles pressure in the team.
