  1. This is an interesting one for me, my loyalties are split. A bit of background, I obviously support Newcastle, have done for 30 odd years but I work for Ipswich Town as an Academy coach. I work with a fair few of the players that will be playing, the captain of the Ipswich Women`s team is a close friend of mine. When my daughter got into the Ipswich academy I started watching the Ipswich Women`s team most weekends. Another one of the team is from my Grassroots Club, she also plays for England. As for the weirdo in this thread talking down about women`s football, what is that all about ? I work in both the boys academy and girls academy, often the girls will beat the boys at the same age and level. The boys are physically stronger and faster but the girls are technically and tactically superior. The quality of some teams playing Women`s football can be really poor, maybe this poster has only seen some poor teams but watching Ipswich, Southampton and others the professional run Women`s teams the standard is really high. It`s not as simple as saying Women are crap at football and men are better. I took my 8 year old daughter training on Friday, she played a match in an U12`s boys game. She sat a 12 yr old down with drag back chop and turn. The boy was twisted up on the floor. Another time at a boys training center same age group I allowed the players to pick teams. A new kid didn`t pick my daughter picking first because she was a girl however the best player there picking for the other team shouted yes and picked her. He knew, he set up for a hat trick and they won 3-0. The popularity of women`s football is going through the roof at the moment, it won`t show anytime soon because of their age but all of the girls teams and different centers are full and turning away record numbers, the boys centers not even full.
  2. I went into work at 3 today. I coach at Ipswich Town Academy, 1 hour ago I was half getting the piss ripped out of me for supporting Newcastle and half shown pity by the other coaches. That`s going to change tomorrow. Stuck the radio on to hear the news, i`m actually in shock and the guilt of getting my daughter hooked on Newcastle is finally going to be lifted.
  3. I don`t know where she gets it from, I looked into my family tree and my Grandad`s (93 years old still going) Uncle was the Captain of Ipswich Town for 4 years just before it went pro. She usually has a harder shot than Joelinton but its pretty difficult in that icy snow. I nearly broke my ankle on it. She got signed for Ipswich Academy U9`s aged 6.
  4. Had quite a few people ask the same on my one and the retweet
  5. My daughter asked to do a video for Alan Shearers charity prize draw yesterday. Really pleased for her, could be coincidence but it jumped £10,000 after Shearer retweeted it. The video got to 55k views, we do the odd video here and there, the most views we got before were 3k. We got likes from Ian Wright, Sally Nugent, Steve Howey, Carly Telford, Chris Foy that we saw but you can`t view all of them on a retweet.
  6. Has anyone posted this Poll for the Athletic yet ? 6 questions, it only has a few thousand votes so far and would be better with more.
  7. Does anyone know if you can see how many have signed this petition ? https://chionwurahmp.com/2020/08/premier-league-petition/
  8. I blatantly spoiled our wedding anniversary the other day by being quiet all night and passed it off as being tired when in reality I was going over every report I’d read in my head looking to assign blame while drastically clinging to some sort of hope it’ll be resurrected. I’m 33 ffs and sat in a mood while out for a meal. I do not post much on here as I never really have the time. I can not put into words how I feel about this. I feel I have finally lost any connection I had with professional football. I have run out of ways to convince myself to enjoy it still. I am lucky though I still have grassroots football, watching my U9 girls team brush a side other teams gives me the same pleasure I used to get from professional football. It helped a lot last night to get out of my mood. I can`t recommend it enough if anyone is looking for a football fix. Clubs are crying out for women's football coaches, all courses paid for.
  9. Also a picture of him in his Newcastle kit and a Black and White sofa.
  10. On a good day his recovery sliding tackles have saved us many goals. On a bad day he is really bad.
  11. Full email if anyone is interested ANNOUNCEMENT READS: The Football Association [The FA] has been working collaboratively with the National League System [NLS], the Women’s Football Pyramid and the wider grassroots game since the outbreak of COVID-19 on how to conclude the 2019/20 season in the most appropriate way possible. These are challenging circumstances for English football and all decisions taken are in the best interests of the game and in consultation across key stakeholders. Our primary concern will always be for the safety and welfare of clubs, players, staff, officials, volunteers and supporters during this unprecedented time. Today’s steps take into account the financial impact during this uncertain period, whilst considering the fairest method on how the sporting outcomes for the season will be decided, with the integrity of the Leagues in mind. The NLS and the Women’s Football Pyramid were able to build a consensus amongst their leagues and, where possible, aimed to create a consistent approach across all leagues, whilst taking into account the unique characteristics of each individual league. As a result, The FA and NLS Steps 3 to 6 have reached a consensus that their 2019/20 season will now be brought to an end, and all results will be expunged. This will mean no promotion or relegation of clubs between NLS Steps 3 to 6, and no promotion to NLS Step 2. These decisions will also apply to the Leagues and clubs who play at NLS Step 7. The National League [NLS Steps 1 and 2] have agreed that they want to attempt to complete the competition in line with the Premier League, EFL and Barclays FA Women’s Super League and Emirates FA Cup and are therefore seeking permission from The FA that the season for this level will be extended beyond 1 June 2020 indefinitely. The planned implementation of the restructure of the NLS will also now be deferred until the start of the 2021/22 season. Furthermore, we can now confirm that The FA has decided that all grassroots football is concluded for the 2019/20 season. This will allow the game to move forward and to commence planning for next season. Our County Football Associations [CFAs] will be supporting grassroots leagues over the coming days to determine how they should close out their current competitions. Where appropriate, the above decisions will be put to The FA Council for ratification. Throughout this period The FA continues to seek guidance in respect of the Government’s financial support packages relative to COVID-19 and how they are applicable to clubs in the NLS, the Women’s Football Pyramid and the wider grassroots game. WOMEN’S FOOTBALL In the women’s game, The FA, FA Women’s Board members and the Women’s Football Conference have consulted and reached a consensus regarding the Women’s Football Pyramid. The FA and the Leagues within Tiers 3 to 7 have reached a consensus to bring the season to an immediate end and all results will be expunged. This will mean no promotion or relegation of clubs between Tiers 3 to 7. Agreement has also been reached to end the Regional Talent Clubs season, which was due to conclude in April 2020. We remain in consultation with the Barclays FA Women’s Super League and FA Women’s Championship Board and clubs regarding the most appropriate way to complete the current season; including the Barclays FA Women’s Super League Academy. FA COMPETITIONS With the Emirates FA Cup, Women’s FA Cup, Buildbase FA Trophy and Buildbase FA Vase 2019/20 all at advanced stages, The FA is reviewing all options as we seek to complete these competitions whenever it is safe and appropriate to do so. Clubs involved are close to reaching a major Final and for those clubs and supporters we will do all we can to keep the Wembley dream alive. In respect of The FA Youth Cup, The FA County Youth Cup, The FA Sunday Cup and The FA Inter-League Cup, we are also seeking to complete these competitions if it is feasible to do so. The FA will also continue planning for FA Competitions to take place for the 2020/21 season.
  12. Could have the unintended consequence of producing better-skilled players. Having to learn to trap the ball with your chest, foot, etc. Its not banned from matches though, so all these kids heading the ball incorrectly in matches will end up worse off. The email I got from the FA states they can train to head the ball once a month with a maximum of 5 headers at the age of U12, once a week at U13, increasing to 10 headers a week up to U17. At U18 do as little as possible.
  13. Anyone notice when dickhead brought Hayden on he kept Matty as the deep midfielder and put Hayden out wide left ? I would have had Matty there and Hayden in Matty`s place.
  14. Have I missed something, why the weird kick off time 12:31 on the BBC website or is it just a typo ? THE FA CUP - THIRD ROUND Rochdale 12:31 Newcastle https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/teams/newcastle-united
  15. I met Lucy Bronze, Jill Scott, Georgia Stanway, Keira Walsh & Carly Telford last week before the game. It was a treat for my daughters 6th birthday, she ran a mile because she was star struck but the players all gathered round and sorted her out. Really nice down to earth people.
  16. But the current threshold they use takes away the competition for the advantage. Measuring an attacker's shoulder as offside when their feet are level or even on, is absurd. Yes, there has to be a line somewhere, but moving the line back allows for greater freedom. It's hard, though. You could say offside is if your feet are offside, but then you could score a header, you feet be onside but your head off. Maybe literally the players centre point... That's the problem with VAR for offsides, though. Offside has always been a good chunk of opinion over literal measurement. We're now trying to apply a very strict determination on something that has historically been shades of grey. Changes everything. Maybe if your feet are onside and head offside, you score with your feet it should stand because your head hasn`t given you an advantage, or armpit in this case.
  17. We could of course rename the site to Sports Direct FC Haters Forum.

    Joelinton

He did have one really impressive moment today; brought it down fantastically well then fed the move which led to Shortstaff's effort which clipped the bar. High ball, over the right shoulder, awkward height - but got it under control with Berbatov levels of finesse. Didn't notice much else, like. Who knows how good he is. Maybe its a dip in form or working with Bruce, he seemed quite promising pre-season and the goal at Tottenham was good.

    Joelinton

Worrying already how unimpressive Joe is, likes a whinge and a stroll about. Hoping its because its early days but i`m not so sure, think i`m with Rafa on this one. Even melt face couldn`t wait to get Carroll on.
  20. Only watched the first 30 minutes or so but he makes Manquillo look like Trent alexander arnold in comparison.
  21. Yep. Still haven’t learned. Well, he would be a squad player, so not sure this is the transfer to get upset about. We don't need a back up for Dummett or Ritchie, we should be signing upgrades. These type of buys rarely work out profitable either. If they aren't good enough to get in the first team ahead of those two then you can assume he's not very good. Were Fernandez, Ki and Schaar considered upgrades last summer? Those three at various points contributed massively to the team. Your premise is all wrong. You don't always buy players better than what you have. Doesn't make sense. Some players improve your general squad and provide competition. Steve Bruce won`t improve anyone. We need players that are the finished article so we get a few months out them before they get Bruced.
  22. Thick, selfish, spineless doormats. They’re as much of a problem as Ashley is, he knows it and relies on them continuing to willingly be s*** on whilst simultaneously stuffing cash into his pockets. If they can’t see it now then they never will, f*** them. If that's the way you feel, then let them know. Do something about it if the fans who are attending are just as bad as Ashley See individually that's impossible. Hence the reason why the campaigns are setup, social media is used etc But you know all of this. Is it? Why not get a great big group of you then? And then you can tell all those naughty fans for daring to go the football ground in which their football club play in. Why not get a great big cage at the turnstiles and stop every f***er from getting in, and then you have your dream of an empty stadium? Then Ashley, a guy 5000 miles away sat on a beach will definitely sell the club, honest. Well a large group is boycotting, and a large group are attempting to educate people, so not really sure what your point is? None of us dream of an empty stadium. We dream of enough people to boycott a single game to start to make a stand. But a lot of people have accepted the fact that Newcastle United (top 20 richest clubs in the world) are a yo-yo club, deliberately getting knocked out of cup competitions early in order to concentrate on the league. As people have said, if you've accepted that, you have absolutely ZERO right to moan, complain, boo etc about the club getting relegated every few years. A large group are educating people  I'm glad that you've split the team up like, very organised. So are you saying Rafa deliberately got knocked out of the cup then? 🤔 Im sorry like but Ashley doesn't pick the team in cups, if we get knocked out in the first round it's got f*** all to do with Ashley and if we get to a final then it's got f*** all the do with Ashley either. The criticism/praise should be with Bruce. Wait wait wait, you surely realise when I say that a large group of people are attempting to educate people, I don't mean that there are people walking around town together yeah? I just mean that there are a lot of people, both IRL and social media, that are having the same conversations that people on here are having with dimwits like you. Ah yes, dimwits like me Why not just go to the ground and talk to the fans who are 'just as bad as Ashley' why not go tell the people who have been going to games since before you were born how ashamed they should be? If you love the club and think boycotting is the only way of getting rid of Ashley then surely that's what you'll do? The volume of idiots doesn`t make you any less of one or the fact you wasn`t one years ago.
