It’s a stretch to say they barely had a shot. They hit the post in each of the semis at 0-0. Havertz missed a sitter in the first semi. All games have been close - we’ve deservedly won each, but this is a very difficult fixture. Winnable, but very difficult.

A smokescreen

I think if it just was a no-doubt auto booking it would die out pretty quickly. Rugby is a fucking weirdo’s sport but they’ve got the referee-player relationship and decision-making process down to a fine art.

Their competence is at an all-time low in the PL era, for me. Every week there are multiple egregious mistakes; they seem scared to make decisions. Need a rule change to make it an auto booking if you get in referee’s face or intimidate, would help them make the right decision more often. Seems to me they would rather VAR makes big calls for them. As it stands they’re too much of an intangible when achievements or survival etc are on the line.
