  1. Bowen isn’t realistic, he’s not for sale and he doesn’t want to leave. Will be Madueke.
  2. Too much rumour and not enough signing make you go something something
  3. When did they wipe the floor with us? If you’re referring to the same fixture last year, we didn’t have any players
  4. I must say I have a similar sense of foreboding about him.
  5. Yeh that’s a really good analysis - the conversations likely include those very points. Is it worth going with number 2/3 for this number now when he may be available for that number next year etc. FWIW I think it’s worth doing now if a player is 25 and under - Howe would likely at least turn them into a saleable asset. Against that backdrop, a loan and one big buy seems reasonable.

In which case surely you have to accept that those in charge know better? I’d imagine the overhype you correctly identify is both the cause of the price and the fact he’s gettable. Palace may not have been minded to sell had he not played, because they’d not get such a big price and because another year in the PL under a better manager would be a reasonable basis to predict higher sale value in a year. That he’s done so well arguably leads to them concluding “let’s do it now while his value is over-inflated”. Newcastle will know this and have set bargaining confines accordingly. Time is unfortunately on Palace’s side.
  7. I get this line of thinking but I think we’d be hard-pressed to spend the money poorly. It’s not difficult to imagine an upgrade at centre half and at right wing for a combined £65-70m, especially if you purport to have hired one of the most exciting scouting minds in the game. If the club’s formal position is that they don’t think those players exist I’d have to take it at face value, but I’d have serious reservations about the new set-up and the ownership’s continued appetite to improve.
  8. Think it’s absolutely one where justice would dictate it being rescinded but politics will dictate it can’t.

    That’s a rare sighting
  10. I don’t understand the logic of posts saying we’re no better than last season - of course we are. Tonali’s back and we don’t have 13 players injured for 2 months. We don’t lack quality or even now (in my view) depth - we lack momentum because last season was a rotter, we’re not in Europe and we haven’t made a big news signing. Im happy for us to be underestimated by the usual rent-a-bleat former players who wouldn’t know adequate subject matter expertise if it teabagged them live on air.
  11. Which car shall I buy tonight
  12. I personally don't think there's any use judging Tonali on the contribution he made before being banned. He looked great at times, he looked crappy at times. Clear destabilising and mitigating circumstances given what happened to his career and personal life shortly after arrival (aside from not speaking the language and leaving his home city [and I assume friends and family] for a different country). Bruno misplaces passes and loses the ball, Isak misses sitters, Gordon runs into too many players... it's football. You have to try things quickly, you don't have much time, you have to be hyper athletic etc. Players make mistakes.
  13. At no point was the match 2-1.
  14. Just to be clear, we did win the match 1-0 with a player less, so the consequences of such a comprehensive tactical outthinking were limited in practice.

    "world exclusive"
  16. He’s played one game in the league against a (likely) lower mid-table side whose attacking line up isn’t particularly ferocious. If our team seriously thought he was a better option I’d imagine he may have been at least as interested as he was in joining Bournemouth.
  17. Agree with this. Been thrice and have no memory of anything there beyond the pissden tunnel on the way to the ground

Spot on - I know him. He absolutely gets Newcastle as a city and a club and likes both personally.
  19. Red can go either way for me. Main gripe was how needlessly petty and fussy he was, putting the ball back to the exact spot of fouls etc. Game suffered as a spectacle. Let Southampton play the plucky away team panto role pretty perfectly.

He sold woodgate and replaced him with ronny johnsen, pocketing the profit. Openly dismissive and contemptuous of fans. Fuck that guy tbh
