Christ, that's awful. Best wishes to him.

Neville gets a yellow for a similar challenge. Hmm.
-
Rare error there.
-
They showing it free through the match as well? Why? Aye, it's available until 7pm. Dunno why.
-
If anyone cares, you can watch it on Setanta unencrypted through Sky. I think it might actually be the lesser of two evils.

I make it Harper Edgar Coloccini Taylor Duff Guthrie Nolan Butt Lovenkrands Martins Viduka

Also this weekend, Graham Laws of Whitley Bay is 4th official on the League 1 Final, and Mick McDonough is on the line for the Championship Final. So while it's been a shit season for our teams, it's been good for our refs. Clattenburg's back tomorrow as well.

We're on 1, Hull are on 3 and the mackems are on interactive via 3.

Setanta have the Boro game, so it's all about survival.

The goal wasn't offside. I paused it at the point Nevland played the ball and Taylor and Harper were both still behind Kamara.

As a referee yourself,Paul, the fact that there is little chance he saw Nolan,1:because he didn't do anything, and 2:there is no way,on this planet,he could see him because of the bodies in the way,can he disallow that "goal". As a qualified ref,I'd love to know what you think Webb was playing at? He could probably see him, there were 3 defenders infront of Nolan but he would still have had some kind of view. As for what he was playing at, I can only assume he was thinking what Jonny Hall has been saying, that goalkeepers must not be breathed upon at a corner. But Nolan did nothing wrong whatsoever and it's just the latest decision to go against us this season. When you think of bad key decisions this season, it must be about 10:3 against us.
-
Absolutely awful decision to disallow the goal. Some of the comments in here (wishing him death and that) are embarrassing though.

Sky have 3 games, Setanta have one. Sky get 1st, 2nd and 4th pick. Therefore it's pretty safe to assume our game and the Hull game will be on Sky. Boro will probably be on somewhere, and Sunderland might be too if they're not safe going into the last day.

Denis Murphy, Irish lad? Nice fella if so.

Darren Fletcher - Should he be able to play in the final?

Well I haven't seen it but apparently Abidal's sending off was wrong, yet I don't see a media campaign to have him play in the Final.... (I know, completely different scenario) -

Why the heck would they want to outlaw that kind of tackle? Great to see, takes a lot of skill to pull off without conceding a foul. I agree with you, but like I say it's the way the trailing leg takes out the attacker that they aren't happy about. Personally I think that's what makes a good tackle even better... -

I was disappointed but not surprised that a penalty and red card were given. For me it was a superb challenge, but I think it's the kind of tackle that FIFA and UEFA are trying to outlaw, where the trailing leg takes out (scissors almost) the player after the ball has been won. That's why I think even if an appeal to UEFA had been possible, it might well have failed anyway. In England it'd be a different story, and M4TT makes a good comparison with the Beye tackle. -
Who cares though if it delayed it by a game? Well it wouldn't have.

It's just a bit of a continuation really isn't it? We've had a pretty raw deal from officials at times this season (as well as being completely shite for most of it), but while you can make a list longer than your arm of decisions that have gone against us, I can only really think of the penalty against Sunderland and Emmerson Boyce being sent off for Wigan as decisions that have gone our way this season. Definite red card though. The same referee sent off Gerrard in a Merseyside derby at Anfield a few years ago so I'm not having any "Gerrard wouldn't have gone" stuff either.

He did often have 2 men up against him though and was crying out for help. I can't stand him but I felt for him at times today.

I did love the way he justified his thoughts by saying "He has no idea where Anton Ferdinand is". Ah well that makes it ok then.
