Have Elanga and Woltemade played together yet?
-
First goal is huge in this one. They don't look amazing from open play. Hope we close down shots from outside the box, had a few let offs. Think NUFC will edge it.
-
Good comp, early days. Excited to see if he has a deceptively quick trigger for shooting too.
-
Rough luck for Spurs.

That was fun. Woltemade showed his class. He is able to see and execute seemingly simple things that others sometimes fumble. Very tidy. Happy for Osula and Joelinton. And even Cook Nice being on this side of it, but it's a shame the delta between League 1 and Prem is so insane. Feels like it wasn't always this way, and that a hard-working team of cloggers had a puncher's chance.

Pope Krafth Lascelles Botman Thiaw Hall Tripps Schar Park-Seung Soo Barnes Murphy Have that low block, you bastids.
-
He should be our CL CB starter IMO. Against some of the more spry centre-forwards we'll see in the CL, we need a Thiaw.
-
He could play 45, then play Sunday. This isn't one of those hypothetical arguments, Kaka. Gordon airballed a tap-in.
-
This post is disingenuous and pandering. You think he had too much cramp to start, but was fine to chase shadows second half? If he only had a half in him: a) you could use that first half b) you could use him with Elanga putting goals on a platter for him
-
I do think people are deifying this Barcelona a little bit. Newcastle beat the snot out of Liverpool until Gordon got sent off. We've done the same to Arsenal previously. I don't see them all as being manifestly different from other top PL sides (especially minus Lamal), against which we would view that performance as disappointing - in the context of how Newcastle have been able to play and sometimes win in recent years. This was a winnable game in the same way those were/are.
-
He was brought on when Barca were in possession mode. Virtually no impact chasing shadows.
-
Like Murphy, can't really create much against a defender that isn't already on the back foot. No shortage of graft, but not that special. He and Murphy should be subs when the game is stretched.
-
If Woltemade starts, we're up by 1 or 2. It turns into a counter-attacking ding-dong, not Barca playing keep-away - which they could do for another 90 minutes.
-
Elanga did. Thiaw did. Mainly poor performances though.
-
What patronising headline do we thing will be peddled? "Newcastle learn CL lesson, rue missed chances" "Newcastle miss Isak, aren't Liverpool class" "Plucky Newcastle do great to keep it to 0-2"
-
Thiaw is a player.

It's tough not to have an overly emotional response but this game was such a missed opportunity. A Barca team without Lamal, they were here for the taking. Howe really messed up. Deflating, this.
