Of course they've competed man. They don't play the same possession football but they've been extremely difficult to break down and shown the odd bit of canny play on the counter. Agree with this. I'm all for the slag off manu while we can but they've done alright against the best. Nobody should be expecting them to be competing with the best in the world the season after Fergie leaves. Don't disagree that they've been difficult to break down and been okay on the counter (in parts, anyway) and credit to them for that - but that's not a sustainable strategy to compete with the best IMO - unless you have the insane luck of Chelsea 2012.

Howay Simeone & co.!

Say that to the Bayern fans who watch him week in week out. There's a reason to why they think Ribery is their best player. Again as I said maybe he is against some shit teams that they beat 6 nil every week in the league but in matches where it actually matters, Robben is a class above Ribery

It was a reasonable expectation to think/hope Man Utd would get dicked 7 or 8-zip at the time of the draw, I think. Fair play to Man Utd for managing a respectable defeat - but it's not much to shout about really. It's been achieved through 'handball' tactics (as Robben would bitterly say ), not actually competing with Bayern. Given where they were at the time of the draw, I guess it's a modicum of progress, but it'd be foolhardy IMO to suggest Man Utd have made any great strides towards being able to compete with anything approaching the best in Europe in any real sense of the word.

He's an Irish Man United fan attempting to gloat on a Newcastle forum during a CL QF? Thought he was an Aussie. Haven't seen any gloating (might have missed some posts, in fairness).

Why is everyone being a dick to Froggy?

Robben to hit the deck like a motherfucker soon.

No lose situation this. Keeps Moyes in longer, knocks out Boring Guardiola. (assuming Man Utd can score another, that is). Nicely poised.

Massively excited. Didn't know you could put smileys as options in polls.

Think he's doing intermittent updates still.

My deadliest move is the M.Bison headstomp.

Yohan not on this corner, then?

Surprised at the (relative) lack of diving in this match.

Needed to let Cisse shine init. Not sure if this is tongue in cheek, but some thought Cisse was the better player.

ShitDemba would have three metres offside.

Demba, man. What a guy.

Well, I'm not lol'ing, but I very much agree with this.

Tricky betting and not great odds tonight.

Almost enough to make you laugh. Almost.

The Mag used to be great. Still have a fucking massive stack of them that I saved for nostalgic reasons (ie. when I was really mad about NUFC).

He had a window of opportunity to at least attempt that last month and slammed it shut with a fine. Yup. If he didn't get fired after that, he's not going anywhere until we're living in the bottom 3 next year. We've got to burn another season just to rid ourselves of this guy. Then all we can hope is that the next appointment isn't just as bad. Although we know it will be. I'm honestly not sure that it could get much worse. It's not just how bad the results are, the lack of any football style, but the man is an utter c***, and has actively tried to get rid of the most talented player we've had here in years. It can't get much worse Oh it's going to be much, much worse next year. I meant another manager couldn't be worse. If pardew stays then next year will be beyond anything Oh, nah. Another manager would be great, but there's no scoreline that puts this guy under pressure, it seems. It's truly a unique situation tbf. I don't think I've seen a manager this bulletproof, well ever tbh Good point.
