I'd take off Murphy and bring on Almiron at the half, and try to get Isak more central.

Good half overall. Sign of the progress within a single season that we've made. The away leg we were clinging on to a draw. This game it's very even between two good sides. We definitely still feel very open on the counter. The goal was really disappointing. My footballing pet hate is not closing down players on the edge of the box. Isak feels a bit wasted and marooned out on the left against this quality of opposition. Not like he can really link up with Burn on the overlap either. Need to stay defensively sharp and switched on. Think we will score, but not sure we won't concede again at this rate.

Only watched the last 10 minutes. All I can say is I hope if we ever need to cling on to a 1 goal lead with 10 minutes left to win something, that we're facing Brentford. Treated Liverpool's half like it was Mordor. Wouldn't want to risk losing possession in the opponent's half, just pass it around the back for a bit, then lose it in your own half

Eh? They looked pretty dangerous at the end to me. Anyway, amazing wait before the penalty. What a showman.

How high above the toilet are they trying from?

'kin hell, thought this was one of those Alan Curbishley/David O'Leary type rumours, they're never actually doing this are they?
-
As I said before I want pressure from Liverpool. And I think we'll get it. They'll be three points off us before we next kick a ball vs Arsenal.

Could be wrong but I think this is the best goal difference NUFC have had in the Premier League era.
-
Both things are true IMO: - He was shite today (perhaps trying to prove too much) - He is not a write off
-
Gordon been an unfortunate combination of greedy and shit that half. Not the only culprit, but a lot of shots from improbable angles rather than trying to supply balls to Isak in the middle. Well defended apart from the very beginning and the end. Need to work their keeper more.

I'd be happy with an energy-conserving, injury-free three points. A decent run out and a goal for Gordon would be great if I'm being greedy, just to make him feel part of things.

This mental adjustment is going to take a good old while.

Saw this too. Absolutely incredible. We've had cup contests over the years with teams two or three divisions below us who we've been less favoured against. (And with good reason, we usually sucked in those matches).

Amazing

Interesting to see what the preseason narrative is over who the top teams will be for 2023/24.

That wasn't even that good a performance, man. But we absolutely hammered them by the end of it. Water is wet etc, but Eddie Howe deserves a lot of credit for that performance, and the season. With three games in a week, against a side with limited quality, Bruno hobbling around, Burns oot, Longstaff down every other minute... he rotated players out, kept Isak fresh. Kept Wilson's confidence and goalscoring form, has convinced Murphy he's Robert Pires, and played this match completely right. He's made a paper thin squad into a team that has lasted a whole season playing okay (like today) or amazing (like Spurs) for nearly every fucking game. Unreal consistency, making so much of comparatively little.

It's mental.

Not far off Arsenal's goal difference now.
-
Ah, Schar deserved that man. He's been class with some of his passes lately. Deserves way more love than he gets.

These fucking commentators been tranquilised or sommat? There are so many of these moments: and they ain't saying shit
-
Like I've always said, Newcastle are so much fun to watch and support.

The commentators were so relaxed about that goal.
