In a way, yes. In a way, it's not scary though, it's totally organic as the next step. After the end of the Carroll and Enrique sagas, so begins a new chapter. We'll be hearing about Colo/Tiote's impending exit for six to twelve months if we're lucky. That it starts now, instead of a month or two into the season doesn't matter that much (unless he goes before the end of this window). I mean, it may very well be bollocks now from this shady Twitter/foreign source, but players of their class don't stay at clubs with no ambition, so one day the source will have substance. Unsurprised many are mollified by his admittedly impressive oratory skills. Hate the guy. Don't distinguish between him and the Ashley regime everyone loathes so much, he's very much part of the Ashley/Llambias team, he's just the buffer whose purpose is to assuage the anger of fans by having a "likable" first barrier up the chain of command from: players/fans > Pardew > The Regime.

In accounting terms he was worth 6 million when he first signed but with one year left on his contract he was worth 1/4 or 1/5 of 6 million depending on whether he signed a 4 or 5 year contract. Actually think it was 5 so valued at 6/5 = 1.2 million in the accounts. Is that right accounts blokes? Could very well be, depending on your chosen policy of accounting Players don't really have straight-line depreciation though, and I would have thought Jose Enrique's fair value would have gone up since he was signed, which would increase the depreciation charge per year and the value of that last remaining year. Don't think accounting really works with players though. You'd have to look at cashflows etc, - it's basically an unworthwhile schlep to calculate
