I'm not generally a pessimistic bastid before matches with big sides (including before the recent Man Utd (h) game and the Liverpool (a) game) but this season is over, man. The season was over a few games ago for all intensive purposes. This game is a warm down, a write off. I've seen Smith et all outclassed on many occasions before, and by inferior opposition too, you might as well throw give players for the future a taste of what's to come/something to work towards. Ferguson won't be out of position and Tavernier.. well, it'll be an experience for him! Honestly, what's the worst that could happen. We get beat 5-0? Just as likely with Smith (with no match practice/fitness). From an entertainment point of view, I'd probably enjoy getting the chance to see players I haven't seen as much of before too, rather than the last two weeks of a casual-kick-in-the-park stuff.

I'd give some of the kids a go and play an overly-ambitious diamond midfield formation of: Tavernier Barton Ferguson Jonas

Is this a serious post? Our strikers have been a disaster yet again. They don't provide anything, they don't find space, they give our midfield no options. Defoe and Pav have been utter crap (again).
