I'm prepared to accept that Ashley will ultimately use the club & and the ground as an advertising mule for his other business interests, as i'm of the opinion that's one major reason as to why he bought the club ie. an EPL-status club selling his brand name is naturally advantagous to his business interests. He bought the club and he's going to milk the club's advertising power for every penny it's worth, that's his right. But to rip down the club badge, in preference to blatant self-promotion/selling his company brand name, borders on sacriledge imo. That's carrying the notion of company promotion too far. As far as I remember, there wasn't a club badge where the SD logo is now. Still doesn't change the fact it looks rank, though. There was like.

Interesting as always. Shame there are no new years games. Just hope we put up more a show against the team we play on the opening day than we did last season as it won't be pleasant to see us propping up the league even if it is only after 1 game. Good too get the two of the hardest games out of the way though when teams may still be trying to get into their stride/suffering from tired players from the Euro's. North London Reds will hopefully get a difficult draw in CL qualifier which will be around then sometime n all.

Very true but say it is between us and Man City for example, he has no preference i presume to either and both will throw money at him & I get the impression players still view being in Europe as to being the shop window, something which he has experienced already as he has pretty much become common knowledge due to Zenit's win in UEFA, he would probably prefer the move to City i would presume. Don't know anyone apart from newcomers and spacka's that refer to the stands as the SJH or the Brown Ale (if it's still called that). Wouldn't be averse to my stand (the East) getting a new name though. At least we only have one sponsored stand (and its a local sponsor), some grounds have some horrific sponsorships attached to stands and their name. e.g. the Emirates, Keepmoat at Doncaster etc.
