If there was an award for the player who is best at backing off, he would win it hands down. Saylor is worse. One of the many reasons he wouldn't win the award for being best at it.

Newcastle United vs. Wolverhampton Wanderers, 02/04/11 - Pre-match Thread

Hmmm. Still pretty fucking rare though, pretty sure they weren't being made the 7th most expensive player ever or something either. I'm gutted he went and wouldn't have accepted the bid but let's not pretend he's not done something 99.9% of players would have done. It's disappointing but hardly puts him in the Keith Curle bracket of cuntishness.
-
How many players in recent history have rejected a move after a bid was accepted for them?
-
Apart from Barry, Milner and Johnson I quite like the look of that team. Downing has been good this season, interested to see how he'll get on.
-
I'm pretty sure what they pay their players has absolutely f*** all to do with their financial situation. How? It was what caused Portsmouth such problems paying the likes of John Utaka 80 grand a week. It may not have got them into the trouble but I bet it's not helping. My bad, phrased it badly, I only meant Man Utd. It's exactly what caused the problems at Pompey, but I don't think they're the 'successful club' Wullie was referring to.

Surely it's got to be Ramage. Of people who've ever played regularly for us he has to be the worst, he made 51 appearances for us ffs. Regardless of transfer fees etc. (which are essentially irrelevant if we're talking actual worst players imo) I'd be amazed if there's anyone as bad as him who's made 50 appearances in my living memory. Worth noting I still think he's a right legend though.

Much as I love him it's clearly Peter Rampage

It's pretty simple. The more you hate our ex-players, the bigger fan you are.

£5 on England to win the cricket world cup. 10/1.
-
We've genuinely competed for the title more times in my living memory (I'm 25) than they have. It's not exactly been sudden. Also, 6 goals in Parky-Dalglish already? Fucking mental, everyone cums their pants over the smallest things these days. I miss Benitez's gradual accumulation of a lead over a number of years.

I have to say, sticking on a version of 'Oh Coloccini' whilst John Paintsil sprints around the pitch with his arms out is one of the most surreal things I've ever seen at a game. Especially when he's introduced with "is it a bird...is it a plane....NO! IT'S JOHN PAINTSIL!". Superb, I wonder if he does it after hard fought draws too.

Over 100 pages since I last checked this thread Gutted he's going mind.

Great signing if true. Hopefully there's an option to buy assuming it's a loan.
-
So what's the latest on when he'll be fit? Having not been to a game for ages I'll be at Fulham, Blackburn and Birmingham - any chance he'll be involved by the last of those?
-
I don't think he's worth £25m based on how good he is, I definitely wouldn't take it though. Why should we? He's the most exciting player to come through our youth system for god knows how long, he's great fun to watch and genuinely cares about the club. We could (and have in the past) easily piss away that amount of money, it just isn't worth it. I'm sure at some point in the future he might not be valued as highly but fuck it, we're fans, why would we want money in the club above players who get you off your seat?

Regardless of what Charlotte Jackson said about it (from what I understand she didn't complain) that video is horrendous. It just looks like a significantly older, senior man bullying a younger woman in the office, nobody laughs, it's just awful. I know that probably isn't an accurate representation of their relationship but that video is utterly cringeworthy and awful.

Carroll's been absolutely superb this season but it's worth bearing in mind that nobody has score more PL goals than Bent in the last 4 seasons. That include his time not as first choice at Spurs too. It looks like Carroll will have much more of an all round game than Bent but he's a phenomenal goalscorer.
-
Agree, made a thread on it a while back.

I've posted it before and I'll post it again. RIP Andy Gray. We all love you dearly.
-
Will he though? It cost us a couple of goals last season that I remember pretty clearly, so he doesn't appear to be learning quickly enough for my liking. Seems to struggle against the right footed left winger opposed to the more traditional ones for some reason. Even more odd as you would assume most of his training would be done against Jonas. As if Jonas cuts in and shoots in training

What a cunt that man is.

If it has to go to one of the two (I'm not suggesting it does) then I'd rather it went to Spurs. Only because I'd miss Upton Park more than I'd miss White Hart Lane though.
