Would have liked to see him given a shot but I'll bow to this opinion.

I see Jonas managed his first and second assists of 2009 whilst I was away. Hopefully he can continue to work on some end product, could be very useful for us if so.
  3. Ranger will get us off to a flyer. We'll concede a couple of soft goals only for Shola, the King of the Championship himself, to come on wearing crutches and batter two goals in using only his knees. Simple win.
  4. Had a very good season there. Not seen him for Inter mind.
  5. Even with Modric fubared? Bentley could do a job for Tottenham now. Bids are in for Krancjar and Petrov, nothing agreed yet. Another bid for Muntari, straight cash, Mourinho wants JJ included, Osman Chavez said to be joining on loan. If that lot is true, and it's not being said by just one person, then Arry really has got his wheeling and dealing hat on. Oh, also being said Gio is going back to Ipswich. No official statement but the OS is listing him as gone for a second spell for 09/10 season. Stop. right. there. You must be the worlds biggest f***ing dunce if for ONE MINUTE you actually buy the medias bullshit claims about Arry being a "real ducker and diver in the transfer market who can wheel and deal some bargains". He's spaffed a f***ing mountain of cash up the wall at Spurs and no-one ever seems to notice it. I mean, the likes of Bassong £10m, Palacios £12m, Defoe £8m(?), Keane £14m, Chimbonda £2m, Crouch £11m must have involved some real ducking and diving. But he's a real wheeler dealer, gets some cheap bargains in does Arry. He's spaffed stupid amounts of money up the wall on s*** players for a while now, he does make some good buys but this whole wheeler dealer image is a load of cobblers. Let's also not forget the purchase of Utaka for £6m whilst at Pompey who was, and still is, f***ing clueless. Redknapp's spending pretty much sunk Portsmouth as well, look at where they are now after his big signing spree down there. They have made a profit on pretty much every player he signed though isn't that right? not to mention winning the FA Cup. Bankrupted them with wages.
  6. Duff probably would be one of our better players in this league but we simply can't afford to keep him. Assuming that's £4m upfront and ALL of his wages off the wagebill we're in no position to reject the offer really. In that sense it's a good deal - plus I would have taken £4m for him without a doubt if we'd stayed up. Problem is the squad size though, clearly. Need some bodies in.
  7. Cracking player is Sneijder. Would be a good signing for anyone. Have to say I'm surprised ManU didn't try to get him or Robben in part exchange for Ronnie.

When he can be arsed he's definitely worth having in the team. Not close to justified his fee, wage or reputation though. Also I think his all round passing is poor, and whilst his running relieves pressure elsewhere his reluctance / inability to start anything that looks like it might turn into a goal he doesn't exact very much if any pressure on the opposition. I agree. He is of use though against the defenders in this league if we manage to keep him. Need to work out how to use him properly. Could be key if we work him out. Not even sure what his best position is mind. If we can get him interested he should rip it up.

I'll save some time by just saying I dont agree with any of that. Fair play.

    Good manager. Bollocks story.
  12. Hit and miss at full back for us. Seem to remember him having a very poor game at the SoL for us there.
  13. Granted I'm only watching the highlights, but England have played some decent stuff here.
  14. Why the fuck did they seed this? Palace/Citeh could be on the telly.
  15. He's been fucking shit in major tournaments though.
  16. Malbranque's a good player still.
  17. Detestable player at a detestable club. Don't really rate him. They'll have paid massively over the odds.
  18. did Carroll play? Think he came on for around 20 minutes, Pearce started with Stanislas instead. Wawinkra?
  19. Yes, and all he had to do was bankrupt them in the process. He's a chequebook manager, and when he hasn't got the cash, he's all about excuses. I'm getting bile coming up into the back of my throat just thinking about him. I'm departing this thread for good. Harry Redknapp?
  20. Dervite was out on loan at Southend for the tail end of last season and did well by all accounts but it's worlds apart from Southend in League 1 to Newcastle in the Championship where every match will be the opposition's Cup Final. I think he will make the grade eventually after his terrible knee injury but there are plenty on the forums who don't think he will. Bloke I work with is a Southend fan and he literally wanks over Dervite. I mentioned we might get him in on loan and he responded by saying we'd be a good outside bet to win the World Cup.

    RIP sale thread.

At the supporter's meeting back at the end of Feb, Llambias (allegedly) said The club makes £100M a year in revenue of which 76% goes on salaries, so that would make a more up to date approximation of a £76m starting point. If accurate that would presumably have us on a wage bill around £60m now. Mental.
  22. A steady CCC style def would be ideal at this time and in our situation. I'd be tempted just to get some big fucker in to add a bit of authority. Someone like Trotman at Preston - I don't know how good he actually is, but he's a man mountain. If he's in between Taylor and Enrique he'll probably do ok.
  23. Really enjoyed the L7 corner for the few homes I got to last year.
  24. We can't afford to keep Colo. I don't know his wages, but they'll surely be £50k at least, and he's not coming anywhere near justifying them. Clearly he'll need replacing, but we can't afford to spend that sort of money on even our better players, let alone someone who may well struggle and be half arsed at best.
