  1. There's something about Billy Davies that makes me want to see him suffering horribly.
  2. Some crap Danish match still dawdling to a conclusion on bet365, like.
  3. Online live stream outside the UK: www.bet365.com. Yes, that means you don't have to pay.
  4. Yeah, the one mate I have from Nottingham thinks of Newcastle as his second team, as his dad was a Geordie.
  5. long memories considering it goes back to the early (jobs) and mid (scabs) 80's. Fans of Chile, when they're playing Bolivia, chant "Let's go to the beach!", referring to a war which resulted in Chile taking Bolivia's only stretch of Pacific coastline -- in 1879! Passions ran very high during the miners' strike. I don't often get into fights, but I remember a conversation I had with a guy from Nottingham in a bar in Majorca quickly come to blows in summer 1985. Some Spaniards had to pull us apart. Valerenga brought a huge banner to St James's saying 'Lindisfarne 793, St James's 2004(?)' Brilliant!

And not even knowing what a scab is.

  8. The jokes on you if you think GBH is a matter of internal discipline. The post I was responding to was about the club's actions, not those of the legal system.
  9. So Hughton doesn't care about getting us promoted?
  10. Promotion is a stepping stone, not an end in itself. If Hughton is bowing to player power now we’ll be f***ed the next time the going gets tough. It's the only thing that matters for the time being. Hughton can deal with it after we're confirmed as being up. If that means selling one or the other, or both, then fair enough. If dropping Carroll for a game or two is going to us cost promotion when were ten points clear of third with 8 games to go, our position in the league must be a fluke. As always with Ashley’s NUFC we have no idea what is going on, but there was always going to be more to this than Taylor’s a c*** so everything is OK. I'm actually quite pleased that NUFC haven't commented on the incident. Sometimes saying nowt is the right decision. I hope it's dealt with 'in-house'. We've washed our dirty linen in public far too often under previous chairmen in the not-so-distant-past... Ignorance is bliss? I'd rather the club said nothing than revealed all of the gory details about what went on. I'd much rather we continued winning games with a settled side for the time being and did whatever needed to be done when it suited us rather than the media. I don’t want to know the gory details, only that the club understands dressing room indiscipline and professionalism don’t mix. Saying/doing nothing at all doesn’t do that. So the club should sort out matters of internal discipline in public just so that you can see whether they're doing it your way?
  11. Dunno, but Abramovich is supposedly trying to get to break-even point. Banging in money disguised as a shirt sponsorship means spending that money plus whatever an external sponsor might have paid -- in Chelsea's case certainly more than £2 million.
  12. What would prevent them from paying, say, 100m for a shirt sponsorship and avoid these provisions? Losing the shirt sponsorship income?
  13. He is managing Bayern. And after his he probably will end up as the new head coach of the German national team. A Dutchman managing Germany? Will never happen. About as likely as Ferguson managing England. If Löw quits Germany after the World Cup (which is, imo very likely to happen) than I'm going to put my money on Van Gaal. As I'v said - he already said he would be interested. And I don't think it's that unlikely. Feel free to waste your money.

  15. Yeah, he is, although I really don't like him. Could he work with Ashley? Nobody knows. We know Hughton can, and that's worth something.
  16. I agree with most of that, I would rather we got in a "proper" manager next season but we have proved since SBR left that is easier said than done. Yeah... who? A question we might well have to consider in December.
  17. The main thing about Hughton is that he seems to be growing with the job. None of us knew what to expect at the start of the season (except for all the doom merchants who were certain we'd go down to League One), and he probably didn't either, but he kept the ship steady and ground out results when all around was chaos and disarray – an owner trying to sell up again, supporters in protest mode etc. That in itself was impressive enough, for all the grumbling about the quality of the football. Recently he's been able to improve the squad, and, imbued with increased confidence and with a couple of players who have also grown in the situation, we're now playing some decent stuff sometimes and knocking a good few goals in. Will he keep on growing with the job next season? I think it's worth taking a punt that he will – quite apart from him having earned the chance, which of course he has. We've got something at the moment that we haven't had since SBR was sacked – forward momentum. Albeit starting from a lowly position, but forward momentum nonetheless. In the absence of any other credible candidates, we should be thankful that we've got someone willing and able to work with the current owner and get results.
  18. He might have been born in Bradford but he grew up in Newcastle. Knew him when I was a teenager and in those days the family lived in Benwell. Don't remember him being much into football.
