Have you been to Fulham, great little club, fantastic stadium but you are never going to achieve much. Dangle the prospect of managing in front of 52,000 fans and saying he has full control over the football side would tempt him. Any manager with ambition would know that if he had full control of the football side of things at the club and did well that the possibilites are endless. If not him there would be others, I’m sure of that! I think you vastly overrate our attractiveness as a club to any potential manager. Meanwhile, things are going well for Hodgson at Fulham. He's managing in the Premier League, safe in mid-table, couple of good cup runs, looks to be enjoying himself.

Why would Hodgson want to leave his current job?

Who can we get in with a proven track record that will definitely suceed here? Someone like Souness or Allardyce? How about that Strachan fella, what is he doing these days? These are all "proven" managers who have had relative success at some points in their careers and the type of manager we would realistically attract at the moment. I have said this before but there is no-one who I realistically think we could get that will definitely ensure we stay up, especially as they will be working under Ashley. It's all well and good saying get someone else in but unless Wenger or Mourinho fancy a proper challenge then stability seems as good an option as anything at the moment.

Not proud, exactly. More a satisfied, "job done" sort of feeling.
