I've always maintained that Alan Smith is an average football player that's not good enough in any position. He should be used only as cover unless he improves by quite a lot.

Reading issues? Yes, that I haven't read the thread. I've only really read the title of it. I take it, it's an ironic title or you were just being provocative to invite responses? Nowt wrong with that though TBF, more entertaining than reading the same old opinions.

Better than your prediction about us finishing above Arsenal this season Parkster.

You obviously never saw the penalty we concede against Chelsea this season then. From looking at your numerous "let's drive our best player out of the club" posts I can see a few of you are loons but you seriously cannot believe that we're favoured by refs!! One decision in one game and you're still feeling hard done by. Just about everything else has seemed to have been in your favour. Even just the fact that Steven Gerrard hasn't been booked for diving is enough IMO- it helps that the media don't have a field day everytime he simulates though I supppose.

Owen: My words were twisted. I want to play for Newcastle United.

1 He has previous- and that involved his boyhood team apparently 2 His injury record for Newcastle and his injury record for England are staggeringly different 3 That would be mighty swell of him -
Judging from what I saw on MOTD, that was an appalling refereeing performance. He should be given a bollocking in private IMO. I'm not sure about demoting him- unless there's a referee in the Championship who deserves a chance in the top division, which I don't have a clue about. It's sickening how often Liverpool have a twelfth man on the pitch. When one big decision goes against them though (the Chelsea one earlier in the season), we hear about it for weeks afterwards.

The Citeh Supporters Openly Laughed At Our Support ...
Geordie Boot Boy replied to Crumpy Gunt's topic in Football
The away support is going the same way as the home. As the old guard supporter gives way to the new generation spectator the SKY generation brought up on 'EASY, EASY' s**** are coming to the fore. One fucker yesterday had a pink shirt on FFS - the Citeh mob slaughtered the feckless moron. . A pink shirt! OMG that certainly puts murderers, paedophiles and wife-beaters in the shade. A PINK shirt, dear me no! He didn't seem that bothered from where I was standing and was laughing at them when they were giving him stick. Struggling to see the reason murderers, Paedos and wife-beaters were mentioned like. Well, exactly. Well, duh, she's a lady, she doesn't go to the matches on her own. -
That's fine. These people are free to write what they want. They just shouldn't expect their opinions to be taken seriously in the future. I haven't read the whole match thread but from what I saw there wasn't that much of 'knee-jerking' going on. What's wrong with calling a spade a spade? We were s*** today, couldn't string together more than a few passes when they took the lead, BS f***** up with his tactics from the start and f***** up even more when he failed to react after they scored, then when he did react it was too late. I haven't seen a 'Big Sam out' comment except the sarcastic/WUM ones. Right. So, he's not doing so well lately. As long as he's not suddenly Mr Wonderful after we win a game, there's no problem with this. Balanced opinions that aren't solely based on what's literally just happened but at least a number of games are fine IMO.

This forum's a bit of a joke at times tbh. For some people, ffter victories, everythings's excellent and can't be praised enough. After a defeat, it's the opposite. And yet, the performance level in each game can be roughly the same. It's best to make a mental note of their names and to ignore them in the future IMO.

Celtic- You'll never walk alone Apparently, they've been singing it longer than Liverpool fans.

Used to always piss me off when he'd call Vieri Vieira.

TBF, he's at Liverpool and the whole World is against them, apparently. -

Which is exactly why he was a waste of money when we have 4 better strikers than him in terms of goalscoring (IMO). Shola? You must be joking. He's not a better goalscorer than Smith now? emm, no, he's not, bearing in mind that a lot of these games smith would have played in midfield.looking at this evidence alone (which would be negligent in the extreme but i'm just covering myself) i'd say the best you could put ameobi on would be on a par with smith, and given that shola spends most of his time falling over and getting caught offside, of the two, i'd go with smith Alan Smith 1998-2004 Leeds United 172 (38) 2004-2007 Manchester United 061 (7) 2007- Newcastle United 005 (0) a goal every 5.2 games Shola Ameobi 2000- Newcastle United 166 (28) a goal every 5.9 games Disregarding substitute appearances (Ameobi has 30 more substitute appearances than Smith), it comes out in favour of Ameobi (1 goal every 3.4 games to Smith's 1 goal every 4.4 games). Then, I have to concede that Smith has more appearances as a midfielder than Ameobi but, in turn, he played these games for a successful attacking team that scored more goals and created more chances than Ameobi did. I don't think that there's any definitive way to prove which one is the better goalscorer in terms of statistics. I'm sticking with my opinion. -

I don't know the facts... I'm purely going off who i like to see play football, and Ameobi is very close to the bottom of my list, alongside the likes of Boumsong, Bramble and Carr. Fair enough, I'm purely going off that I like to see goals scored. -

Did you watch the game? Smith and Gremi prob had their best games for us. Esescially Smith. The team as a whole performed much better 2nd half, and a soon as Enrique went to left back i always fancied us to get the 3rd. Smith seemed to revel up front, albet it was for oly 10 minutes. As soon as we win Smith and Geremi suddenly start playing well in some people's eyes, had those two put in the same performance today and we had lost people would be going crazy at them. But like the game against Bolton both did OK, nothing more, but because we win people automatically overate them and don't see the faults. Very true. And, naturally, the reverse is true too. There are a lot of reactionaries on here. -
Lose your shit? WTF does that mean?
