More than likely Shane Long IMO. Although... I hope it is Erdinc tbh. I like the look of Long but Erdinc just looks more powerful.

Nolan has a real finishers instinct though - not sure we can say the same of Gosling. He does look real box to box now he is fit though. The kind of midfielder that Roeder erroneously tried to make Scott parker into. I wouldn't argue with that, Nolan was class in the penalty area. But Gosling might be better at the actual midfield stuff which bypassed Nolan mostly.

Gosling got into a few goal scoring opportunities against Crew. Looks like he might be able to replicate Nolan's goals without the fatness.

I've only seen the YT videos of Long and he looks very lively, but from that it's hard to tell on his finishing ability which is pretty crucial for a striker. If you've seen him and think he can put them away then he'd do for me. I think there's a good chance he'll end up here if Erdinc dithers too long.

I don't know what to make of Best tbh. He looks like a Championship player at times with his movement and football in general, but he also looks like a player who will get goals. Unlike Shola he actually looks to get in goal scoring positions and he can score with either foot and is a decent header. If we don't sell him it wouldn't surprise me if he got goals next season as well.

The only people who can reduce the price is us. Why Cunny Dalglish has suddenly decided to play wheeler dealer after spaffing £20m on Jordan Henderson is beyond me. I don't see why we are obliged to drop the price because Enrique's following the scouse prompts. Its beyond me how you cant see they are two totally different situations. Henderson is English, overrated, younger and had years on his contract and his club/himself didnt want to leave. Whereas we could see Jose sign a pre contract in 6 months, wants to go and any chance of getting a fee for him reduces by the day. I just don't see why Enrique should be able to dictate the price by throwing a strop on behalf of his new scouse overlords. Yes we will have to compromise but that was always going to be the case anyway. It's not a case of Jose throws a hissy and we drop a couple of million on cue. Who is to say what price it will/should be though, his strop hasnt really changed anything? Ash Young went for £16m, NZogbia for £9.5m both in the same boat although attacking players in general cost more. With Nolan out of the way I don't see any reason why Vukic and Gosling can't be given the responsibility of replacing his goals. With Vukic, even if it's just coming off the bench to start with he should still be included, especially with HBA out for a while.

I think without a proper midfield the onus was too much on Enrique so he held the ball too long. If more players ran off the ball and showed for a pass it would happen less in my view.

He is a good player. He'll complement Ba and the midfielders we have in our squad. At the moment, it's not the most exciting partnership in the world, but it has the potential to be an effective one. Pleased to hear that. Hope we can tie this one up soon, would give everyone a boost. I think getting this deal done must be a priority for the hierarchy right now. After losing out on Gameiro, Gervinho and Zog (the only realistic one out of those) losing out on Erdinc as well would be a big dent in the credibility after such a drawn out chase. Both Gameiro and Gervinho were drawn out chases which we lost in the end. Can see this going the same way if the player genuinely doesn't want to come. I'm assuming that he has given some indication that he's keen for the move. Gameiro and Gervinho were just long shots worth pitching for in my view. Erdinc has supposedly agreed terms and it's his agent who has held things up, touting him around in the hope of getting a bigger cut probably.
