    That sounds about right
  2. It's why he's gained a rep for notoriety. But he's usually right. Mostly.

    Leon Best

Just read the chronicle article and this was in the Best story So for all the spastic journalists who have been tweeting about the camp falling apart...kindly fuck off.

I don't know what to make of Best tbh. He looks like a Championship player at times with his movement and football in general, but he also looks like a player who will get goals. Unlike Shola he actually looks to get in goal scoring positions and he can score with either foot and is a decent header. If we don't sell him it wouldn't surprise me if he got goals next season as well.

They can be very, very persuasive. http://28.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lo18ptSTKg1qbrkr9o1_500.png Llambias "forcing" Colocinni into handing in a transfer request.
  6. The only people who can reduce the price is us. Why Cunny Dalglish has suddenly decided to play wheeler dealer after spaffing £20m on Jordan Henderson is beyond me. I don't see why we are obliged to drop the price because Enrique's following the scouse prompts. Its beyond me how you cant see they are two totally different situations. Henderson is English, overrated, younger and had years on his contract and his club/himself didnt want to leave. Whereas we could see Jose sign a pre contract in 6 months, wants to go and any chance of getting a fee for him reduces by the day. I just don't see why Enrique should be able to dictate the price by throwing a strop on behalf of his new scouse overlords. Yes we will have to compromise but that was always going to be the case anyway. It's not a case of Jose throws a hissy and we drop a couple of million on cue. Who is to say what price it will/should be though, his strop hasnt really changed anything? Ash Young went for £16m, NZogbia for £9.5m both in the same boat although attacking players in general cost more. I said a while ago we may well end up getting £5m and push for heavy future incentives due to the how long we have and it still wouldnt be terrible(obviously in the silly sense that we will replace him properly) unless we end up with some shite at LB for a fraction of that amount. Fine but the post I was responding to initially was by ozziemandias which read:

  9. Ruling himself out of something that was the figment of a journo's imagination? Well played.
  10. With Nolan out of the way I don't see any reason why Vukic and Gosling can't be given the responsibility of replacing his goals. With Vukic, even if it's just coming off the bench to start with he should still be included, especially with HBA out for a while.
  11. he has been known on quite a few occasions to get caught in possession and try and play his way out of trouble near our own penalty area rather than just give it leather upfield/out of play and come unstuck. That's what makes him a good player in my book. Any twat can leather it upfield but for good possession you need full backs who can come out with the ball. If that means he'll lose the ball once in a while then it comes with the territory. It happened more than once in a while last season mind. I think without a proper midfield the onus was too much on Enrique so he held the ball too long. If more players ran off the ball and showed for a pass it would happen less in my view.

  13. Maybe the owners didn't get their sums right like Ashley when he first arrived. They've just realised all thes £20m signings still have to be paid wages

would love that to happen, especially as it would be a loan.

He is a good player. He'll complement Ba and the midfielders we have in our squad. At the moment, it's not the most exciting partnership in the world, but it has the potential to be an effective one. Pleased to hear that. Hope we can tie this one up soon, would give everyone a boost. I think getting this deal done must be a priority for the hierarchy right now. After losing out on Gameiro, Gervinho and Zog (the only realistic one out of those) losing out on Erdinc as well would be a big dent in the credibility after such a drawn out chase. Both Gameiro and Gervinho were drawn out chases which we lost in the end. Can see this going the same way if the player genuinely doesn't want to come. I'm assuming that he has given some indication that he's keen for the move. Gameiro and Gervinho were just long shots worth pitching for in my view. Erdinc has supposedly agreed terms and it's his agent who has held things up, touting him around in the hope of getting a bigger cut probably.

Carroll dominates when the ball is hung up high in the air and there are players like Nolan who are canny at picking up the scraps. Unless Liverpool are going to drastically change the way they play, it's not nailed on he'll be as effective as he was for us. It's not as simplistic as you are making it out to be either. How much he suits liverpool isnt that relevant, the basis for this discussion is his value whilst he was here in comparison to Ba. Though i reckon Gerrard/adams/downing etc shouldnt have to much problem finding his head. Carroll's value to us last season was immense because with no other quality players lumping it towards Carroll was a good tactic. If we had kept him and not sold then I think we wouldn't have made the signings we have done. While I agree it seems we haven't spent as much as we should (yet) I still prefer us to spread the quality across the team rather than rely on one or two players.

 What's funny? The bit in bold is correct. Carroll made what, four league appearances for Liverpool? He was unplayable against Citeh. Why not compare the way Carroll was playing in the first half of the season, for us, to how Ba played for West Ham?! He was piss poor against West Brom. He was absolutely tamed by Samba against Blackburn as well. The problem with route one football is there's no plan B if you come up against a big hard centre back.
  19. Where does it say he has signed? I would be in favour of hijacking that like, £5m for Long is a decent price. Same here. I would rather have Erdinc but I don't want to lose out on both and end up with the likes of Defoe. While he's been a class player in his time he looks like the wrong sort for this club. Don't know if he has an attitude problem but he lacks consistency for a player with his talent.

  21. Give over man. Are you just going to ignore the players who have come in? People are arguing why we didn't sign Zog and I don't see if we can make all these signings what was stopping Villa? Haven't they sold a shit load of players for big money? If you looked at our forums and what people were saying recently, and still are in some cases, "look at Newcastle, they've got players in, we're doing nothing but get rid of them" was one of the most frequently heard things. Transfer window open = paranoia, delusion, misunderstanding and anger. That was my point even though it seems beyond some people's comprehension. That's not to say Zog wouldn't have been a good signing, but knowing our lot if we'd spent that much on him we wouldn't still be in for Erdinc. I said it way back in this thread that I couldn't see us signing Marveaux and Erdinc then still going ahead and signing Zog. The daft thing is I was one of the most vocal critics of the decision to sell him at the time. It's not like I wouldn't want him here but you have to look at the bigger picture.

  23. This and this. Why didn't Villa sign Marveaux as well as Zog as well then? Not to mention they should have been in for Cabaye and Ba seeing as they were all available cheap.

That's how it might seem right now. But then this time last year we'd have thought it laughable that anyone could even contemplate that. We'll know the answers next season in any case.
