Fuck you Van de Ven!! Botman rules!!!
-
Some absolutely rancid opinions from these commentators on letting blatant fouls go unpunished.
-
The way I look at it is, if we were going to have to field a weak team, this isn't the worst fixture for it. Even with Willock and Hall available we still aren't really a great side and Spurs could easily have gone away with a win anyway. Free hit for me, not really expecting anything much from it with such a pish line up. Yes I know we are at home, but with so many holes in the squad right now I don't think we are in a fit state to compete against a CL chasing team.

Eventually there can only be limited options for owners like PIF. Either they can challenge the PL and cartel club stranglehold on anti-competitive grounds, or they lose interest and start buying up clubs in other leagues where there is less restriction. The third option might be to just buy up one of the cartel clubs. I would imagine that would meet with the approval of the PL as that would align with their own interests. Personally I think the only way to break this stranglehold is the legal challenge, otherwise we could be waiting for another 10 years hoping we sign enough good players to make a massive profit. Of course, every other club will be trying to sign those same players too.
-
I'm pretty sure PIF would rather go in all guns blazing, but given the sensitivities around a Saudi owned football club, they probably don't want to cause a stink. In any case, they win either way.
-
Not surprised really. He's probably worth overpaying a little bit because he's the heartbeat of our team.
-
I agree it sticks in the craw how agents milk so much money off other people's talents, but it's the same in every industry. It's not football's problem to solve. The football cartel clubs on the other hand are a real problem for the competitive football which has made the PL the best in the world. They must be stopped by any means necessary if we don't want them to destroy the game for ever.

A game against Leeds always feels like a big game for me, maybe that's history talking but they were a big club when I was growing up. Plus we owe them one for that horrendous performance we put up against them when Allardyce took charge there.

Realistically we'll probably settle with Man U at some point between the end of summer and the new year. Just don't seem to have heard much on a replacement while the Ashworth saga drags on other than a few names thrown out there.
-
have you seen the style of football under the current West Ham manager?
-
I wonder if it will impact our own plans to bring in a DOF before the summer? Are we waiting to settle the Ashworth compensation before making our move?
-
Old Trafford does seem to have become a gathering point for some of Ratshit's old football mates down the years. Has a whiff of Mike Ashley about it, where Sir Jim seems to think he knows more about football than actual football people. I'm sure Southgate's a great guy, can't say I've ever been convinced there's a great football manager there. Man U just seems like the wrong job in every way possible.

This is it in a nutshell. In an ideal world we'd keep the Longstaffs and Miggy's as squad players, I'm pretty sure if FFP wasn't there, then this is the role they'd play. But if keeping them means we have to sell first team players, then I'm sorry but they have to go. We need the PL to lift these ill thought out restriction, it will lead to players being forced out of clubs even when they can afford to keep them on the books.

Feels a bit like this season under Howe tbh, Brighton seem to have been caught in a transition period. Not sure it reflects on De Zerbi necessarily, not sure what happened with Jao Pedro this season, but they still seem to be playing Wellbeck quite a lot and it feels like he's probably 10 years past his prime.
-
Which tells you quite a lot about the player tbh.
-
He might not stay anyway, he's going to have a year left on his contract next season, he could just run it down and then we get nothing. He doesn't really have fitness issues though, this is the first time he's been out for any sort of lengthy spell in a long while.

Liverpool are a shitbag club, no English manager is good enough for them. Seems like they are only interested in hiring from abroad when there's clearly talented up and coming managers in our own leagues who never get a sniff. They should have gone for proven cup winner Moyes, or if they really wanted to show they mean business, how about poaching Sean Dyche from bitter rivals Everton?

Amazing turnaround from being a joke signing of the decade as a striker, to an international Brazilian midfielder no less. He epitomises everything good about us, gives 100% every game, and he's a lot better footballer than he gets credit for as well. You can't operate out wide without having some ability.
-
It will be a compromise like it says, no way is he going to get the £180k that article is claiming. If he gets anywhere near £130-150k he should be more than happy, I just don't think there's many other clubs outside of Saudi who would pay it.
-
Right now it feels like Man U might get the 3rd.
-
Was thinking just that
-
I imagine Howe plays him for other qualities that tougher tacklers might lack. I mean Dummett's a tough tackler but you wouldn't play him left midfield.
-
O'Neill's going to get the book thrown at him for calling out the ref's bottling it in overturning the decision which cost them an equaliser, but it needed to be done. VAR can only work if refs have the balls to ignore questionable reviews.
-
You wouldn't put him in the team for his tough tackling like.
-
Nope. If we can finish 7th that will be amazing given how the season's gone. I'll take 8th every day of the week if it gets us into Europe.
