I'd say Aaron Ramsay's a quick and skilfull player. I'm surprised he'd be so clumsy to make a leg breaking challenge.

It would help if Shawcross foot wasn't raised a foot off the ground at impact. in the old days these used to be called sliding tackles, but why slide when you can go into a 50/50 at a leg breaking angle and be justified by the watching public? It's not a tackle. What was it then? He goes to kick/clear the ball because it's bouncing free. Have you seen it? I saw Shawcross raise his foot at just the right height which would snap a leg in half. In fact Eduardo almost came in for the same treatment if he hadn't pulled out after he came on. Raise his foot? He swung for the ball and missed. He didn't stamp or go with studs showing. Ramsey doesn't have the ball in his possession, like an opponent normally would if you were tackling them. Shawcross doesn't attempt to stretch and play the ball with the sole of his boot, like you often would if tackling an opponent. They ball is bouncing free and both go to clear it, Ramsey simply gets there a fraction of a second first. You see it all the time just with far less serious consequences. It's the very definition of a 50/50 clash, because it could have easily ended up with Shawcross coming off worse. I give up. Fuck Aaron Ramsay, long live Shawcross.

Maybe that's because he's playing with another target man in Carroll? I've only seen highlights but I've seen them both go up for the same cross at the back post a couple of times now. Carroll is scoring goals but other than that he's looked pretty awful as well most of this season.

Great management by Fergie. Sideline the whiny little cunt before he spreads his attitude through the squad like cancer.
-
It would be better if you expanded on why he isn't very good though. Haven't seen him in action myself so it would be useful feedback. Basically, from what I've seen.. he offers absolutely fuck all to the team that couldn't be offered by others. When we signed him he was described as having pace. Does he actually have any or were Hughton and his scouts wearing dark glasses on a rainy day?

Nothing spectacular, but a few chances created in open play from the team clear at the top of the league would've been nice, maybe? Or perhaps a few decent passing moves, only a few? Too much to expect from any team that looks to be 'effective' in this league, I guess, the likes of Swansea, WBA, Doncaster etc. play pretty football, but don't grind out the results. That's right they don't. That's why they can all fuck off and cry into their beer tonight

Missing the point again.

Why If they didn't play the way the do they would have no chance of staying in the premier league. I don't mind them, they have the best fans by far in the league. I think today's game summed up pretty well why they sicken me to the core. On their own ground they had 10 men behind the ball, all of them hulking brutes with limited ability other than to tackle hard and hump the ball long. Does it surprise me that one of their gangling neanderthals broke the leg of a player who he's not fit to share a pitch with? No. It's probably the limit of his capabilities. Have you ever seen Shawcross play btw? Or are you just being ignorant as per usual? Also what was your opinion when we kicked the shit out of Arsenal at home when Nobby scored? Seeing as we blatantly went out with no intention of playing football whatsoever. But to just intimidate Arsenal. I can understand it as a tactic to get a result but long term I'd hate to become a team that played that way. I don't have a problem with us playing that way now, but if we didn't try and progress when we reached the premier I'd not be happy with Hughton. As for Shawcross I haven't seen him play, I just get really pissed off when I see genuinely talented young players like Ramsay and Eduardo get their leg snapped in half playing against teams like Stoke or Birmingham. Priceless. Missing the point just a bit though.

You'll give a f*** how next season. Not really, tbh. If we're still winning games, I'll be happy. You want us to be playing like Arsenal next season? I'd like to think that Hughton will aim to progress us like Moyes did with Everton who were a pretty functional team to begin with at the start of his managerial career there. He built a solid base and has gradually added some skill and craft in the last season or two. That's me being optimistic though, Hughton might turn out to be out of his depth next season but no one knows that at this present time.

Not arguing about their results, Wimbledon and Bolton used to do well using similar methods. Doesn't mean I have to admire them.

Come on Arsenal. I don't like them as a club but Wenger stands for everything good about football while Stoke sicken me to the core.

I'd rather they went down this season, then for us to hopefully meet the season after after we've took Bent off their hands. Yep, Bent was our player by rights that thieving cunt Bruce was basically picking his transfer targets from the Evening Chronicle rumours about Newcastle. In any case we need a coup[le of seasons to rebuild before we go into a derby so we can give them the twatting that they deserve.

Shush man you're not allowed to say that. Thought Colo played better last season when he was along side anyone other then S.Taylor. He did quite well alongside Bassong so yes you have a point. Against Coventry in the League Cup. That was about it, really. Colo's been absolutely immense this season but don't anyone start standing up for his performances last season. He had a spell around where we went six games unbeaten, that 0-0 draw away at Chelsea, and he looked every bit the player we know he is. Aside from that though he struggled with every single aspect of the league. I'm not starting, I defended him last season as well because although he had problems it was clear he was a good defender who was surprised by the pace of the game here. I'm not saying he'll coast it next season either but I doubt he'll be our major concern.

8 points at this stage is too much to make up IMO. We only need to get a draw in our game in hand and Forest will have to win three more games than us with less games to do it in as every week goes by.

I think your putting a little bit too much emphasis on the signing tbh. We needed another striker once the other deals went dead and we havent spent loads of money on him. If it doesn't work out for him here, he'll probably get a move in either the summer or next Christmas. It's not like its another Luque signing or that the signing is costing us points at the moment. It was a small gamble that hasn't worked off yet but I'll judge Best at the end of the season. That's where i disagree though, Otter. We didn't need another striker, not from a numbers perspective - certainly not. What would have been very nice - to take us over the promotion line (hand in hand with Routledge) - was a striker better than what we had already. Cover was never an issue. We're not guaranteed to sell him like. Signing Best does seem to have kicked Carroll into a goal-scoring frenzy though. It might have been a big burden to be the main man, who's to say he would be scoring so freely if there wasn't Best in the squad?
-
Sums it up. A truly puzzling signing. It seemed a weird one at the time, you would hope that Hughton has seen something that we haven't but no sign of it so far. He certainly doesn't seem to enjoy playing with Carroll.
-
By GG standards that's bordering on ecstatic.

Yes. Much enjoyment may be derived from this result
