  1. I think Hughton's use of Pancrate has been an eye opener as much as anything. We've had many St James regulars telling us how gormless PanCrap is, but whenever Hughton has used him, even at right back on one of his stranger days, he has generally got a good end result.
  2. I'm not miles away from your thinking but the proof of what he has done so far is that he's taking nothing out of the club and he's said that he'll never take anything out. So far the clubs accounts have backed that up and he's put more than ever in this season, he can't do any more than he's done. So far being the thing. Hopefully you’re right and I’m wrong. Whatever the long term holds next season is going to be a different kettle of fish if we go up, which barring a drastic reversal of fortune we will. I trust there will be no booing at SJP, no calls for Hughton to be replaced, and no criticism of Ashley’s commitment to the welfare of NUFC from those who are so eager to give him the benefit of the doubt this season. I think that sort of behaviour is more likely to come from tits who only registered on this site recently to post their agenda driven poison really. Oops! I wasn't talking about you honestly!
  3. nah seriously, the one thing I don't think we lack is belief and determination. Even on our worst days we are a hard team to beat so I really can't see us getting beat in our remaining fixtures. Forest at home will probably be our toughest fixture tbh so they might get draw up here for all the good it will do them.
  4. I heard on the radio before the game that if we don't lose in our final 5 home games it will be the first time in 103 years that we have gone all season unbeaten at home. Quite a staggering achievement if it's true considering how belief was rock bottom before the season began.
  5. If we are winning 6-0 you have to be a determinedly miserable bastard to moan about Ashley instead of enjoying a great result. Can't think of a worse time to do it myself.
  6. Not quite, but that individual performance from him today would have certainly got him a man of the match award in many of our other games. Okay so he's a bit of a speed merchant with limited ability, but he does offer us natural width which is very useful. Some of his touches and passes were especially excellent today. after a nervy first 10mins his movement was very good. the win and lay off for the pen were very good. didn't he set upi carrolls very good in the first half aswell. caused them bother all afternoon. still don't think it's enough for him to still be here come the summer but credit where its due. I think his most important attribute is that like Routledge he gives us natural width and allows Guthrie to play in a more central position. It's not about the individual but how he effects the shape of the whole team.
  7. Depends on the quality of the team. Mowbray tried this with West Brom and it didn't go well at all. Keegan might like to play attacking football but he's not naive enough to think you can do it successfully without quality players. How many clubs in English football could guarantee him the funds he'd want to sign them in the current financial climate?
  8. It was his fault he didn't want to be here and failed to score any goals when it mattered. I really don't give a fuck if he got a good deal at Man U as I know it will end in failure and said so when he signed.
  9. I think we should aim to finish around 12th optimistically, but if we can stay up that's the main objective. I believe we will surprise a few cynics on here though, I think we might not struggle as much as the doom mongers are predicting.
  10. I wouldn't say his career is over, but he will have to take his nose out of the sky and realise that he isn't all that any more and will probably have to sign for a lesser club like Hull or WBA once Man U wash their hands of him. I think Everton or Spurs would probably steer clear tbh, they are both on the up and it's doubtful he could get in their first team. Why would either want an expensive sub with a chip on his shoulder?
  11. Have you seen him play btw? I've seen him start one game, the rest were sub appearances.
  12. butt will be gone thankfully smith and barton both have 1 year left after this, these 3 alone earn 160k a week, and produce fuck all in terms of quality, and with barton who is a bigger crock than owen We hope Butt will be gone, theirs still time for Hughton to give him a contract extension. Hopefully someone will come in for Smith and Barton, come on Fat Sam and Blackburn. Lets not forget that Colo and Jonas are also on high wages, are theirplayers out there who can do the same, if not better job then them for less money? I don't think so in all honesty. Giving the likes of Butt or Smith another contract will fly in the face of everything Ashley has been preaching wrt building a younger, hungrier squad. This is one thing he has definitely got right in my book, and just as Ashley stood firm against Keegan when it came to offering miserable Michael Owen a bumper contract so should he refuse Hughton IF he wants Butt to stay longer. There's nothing to suggest that he will want him anyway, it's a bit presumptuos to suggest he will at this point.
  13. I'll wait to see if he invests in the summer or puts the club up for sale again. Another close season of disruption would be inexcusable as there is no point in putting the for sale sign on unless Ashley is prepared to sell at a low price.
  14. I'd rather put the boot on and kick the cunt in his bad leg tbh.
  15. Don't believe it...Llambiarse and Ashley are proven liars so this is obviously a clever con trick....and even if it isn't it's for THEIR BENEFIT not OURS.. / [HTT style rant]
  16. Out of interest, what do you think would happen if Ashley did decide to withdraw? Since all the investors in Portsmouth did "withdraw" has that turned out to be a healthy situation for Portsmouth supporters?
  17. You are right. Please get your address book with list of preferred owners and instruct them to buy the club ASAP. Inform them in no uncertain terms that we will require a transfer war chest of at least £50million plus funds required to hire a top manager. Sorted. I never once said i had all the answers (or any for that matter). And i never once metioned "we need millions spent on transfers" either. In the meantime then we do need transfer funds and answers and only one person is capable of providing either and that's Fat Ashley. Until someone else steps forward it doesn't really matter if he's Billy Liar or the Sultan of Brunei.
  18. The current rules are fine as they are, what we need is tv and radio pundits to shut up and fuck off tbh. I can't even listen to shows like 606 any more with their endless debates about controversial decisions and guest referees giving us their anal perspectives.
  19. We've looked our most effective with two wide men so I would like to see us go with Pancrate although obviously that would mean taking either Guthrie or Nolan out of the starting line up which isn't going to happen. So I expect we'll get another stuttering performance with an unconvincing win at the end of it. Which is good enough.
  20. You are right. Please get your address book with list of preferred owners and instruct them to buy the club ASAP. Inform them in no uncertain terms that we will require a transfer war chest of at least £50million plus funds required to hire a top manager. Sorted.
  21. There does? Agree with the second line like. I get a lot of ambivalence towards Ashley on here. Even a feeling of better the devil you know. None of which were afforded Shepherd (except by NE5). Shepherd wasn't spending his own money, he was putting the club into deeper and deeper debt. It's one thing to do that if you are Man U and winning things, it's a problem if the investment isn't reflected in the results.
  22. Right now I don't really care about Llambias singing hymns about Ashley, it might be slightly nauseating but other than that there's not much wrong with what he says. There have been no serious buyers of the club in the last year, whether there were any before that is all speculation. Either put up or shut up basically. With Ashley staying it could have been a lot worse, he has sunk cash into the squad in an effort to seal promotion so credit where it's due. It would be nice to think he will invest serious money next season but I can't see anything other than a cautious spending policy in the current financial climate.
  23. It could so easily have been Shawcross with a broken leg too. That's what makes Big Tron's comments all the more stupid. Excactly. It's similar to the Eduardo incident in that the Arsenal player would've been fine if he was just a bit slower. Obviously that's not to say it's their fault, far from it, but it just goes to show it's bad luck and nothing more. If you can see any intent in that tackle then you're either a mind reader or you're chatting shite (Hi TRon!). You see challenges like that once or twice every match at least and nothing happens. It was just catastrophically bad luck. Why do I bother? It really isn't worth it.
  24. I'd say Aaron Ramsay's a quick and skilfull player. I'm surprised he'd be so clumsy to make a leg breaking challenge. Aye, he should have just stepped out the way and let Ramsey run past him. He could have kept his tackling foot on the ground, but yes I suppose it's worth breaking someone's leg in order to stop him run past I suppose.
  25. I'd say Aaron Ramsay's a quick and skilfull player. I'm surprised he'd be so clumsy to make a leg breaking challenge. Are you being serious? Why? Has Ramsay ever broken someone's leg?
