That surname Kint...are you sure you've got the spelling right?

Fuck me

It's not my fault you're anal. There's fuck all I can do about it. I may withdraw the post or re-word it if you feel strongly about it so do let me know.

Next time I'll get it proof-read by a respectable lawyer before posting. The last thing we want is valued members getting anal about exact quotes and meanings of said articles

Ashley has told Chris Hughton to bugger off if he's expecting any cash to spend http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/nufc/newcastle-united-news/2009/10/14/nufc-boss-hughton-suffers-ashley-cash-blow-72703-24927799/

NE5 did post a link once highlighting with quotes Souness writing Owens name on a bit of paper & saying that is who he wanted. To be fair, I do remember that. Something like Shepherd asked Souness to write down a list of players he wanted, he put Owen down, and Shepherd nearly fell off his chair, or something like that. Souness used to take the piss out of bellamy's finishing ability from what I remember, constantly sniping at his goals record when justifying his decision to play him wide. Even with a gammy leg Bellamy is still a far more effective striker than owen in today's game. Souness is such a twat. very true, despite bellamy being our top goalscorer that season until he left but i do seem to remember many fans backing souness over what happened at the time The fans backed the principle rather than Souness, not to mention Shearer threw his weight behind the manager which had a big bearing. Souness couldn't have achieved the destructuction of the squad without tacit support from Shearer and Shepherd.

Nobody has proven to have the 100m that is clear. But there still are renegade moneybags looking for PL clubs. Don't worry, Ashley will set the price just out of their reach ensuring his cock-up bonanza remains on track
-
Can't wait to see what price the club goes up for if weget promoted. It wouldn't surprise me if the fat cunt tried for £400m again.

Just rambling really, there are some good posters who don't seem to be around much any more but that's just the way things go with these places I guess. Not everyone has the time or inclination to weigh in on a regular basis, but there are some decent contributors on the admin team when they do post.

Can only speak for myself in relation to 1) but I've been away for about 4 months without any access to the internet (or any time to get on the internet, really). Since I've got back things have been fairly manic as well with work, university and placement stuff. Just don't have the time I did last year and beyond. As far as 2) goes - the size issue is a big one (the amount of posters/data we carry over here is obscene really and costs a hell of a lot to maintain) and I think the donations last time spoke for themselves. If people enjoy the place and can afford to donate, then they hopefully will, we certainly don't offer any extra privileges for those that do donate like. I was amazed at the help everyone gave last time and I'm already amazed at how generous people have been in the early-going here. People are canny. What I would say rich, is that what makes this site worth it's worth paying for is the contribution of it's members who contribute with worthwhile posts. Not those who are good at MSN type chat, or those who are Soopafans, there are better avenues for that. Why not make this the best discussion forum and let's have everyone contribute with that in mind?

Sorry but . Some fucker with that sort of name anyhow EDIT: meant Blufperdi I think

Just a couple of questions not on your FAQ: 1) How come the admin members post less frequently here, like Andy, 80, Rich, Blufescu etc? These guys are usually worth reading on the rare occasions they do btw. 2) Why is this site worth paying donations for, yet Toontastic - and many respected members on this site's admin team quote from there - is free?

This is the dilemma for me. Players like Nolan are coming up with goals, sometimes against the run of play, yet it's their utter lack of running and ability on the ball which means we often are out-played by 2nd rate football teams. Smith hasn't score any but he's still been MOM far more times than Nolan which tells it's own story.

Can't wait for sillius's next update after he's read the online papers and decided which bits to mix in with his own daft bullshit (just for variety of course).
-
That's a bit like saying a Gutierrez that scores 10 goals a season and gets 15 assists would be a vital cog in any team, whatever the division.

Curbishley is out there at a loose end. He's got a good record of developing young players and over-achieving on limited resources. Whether he'd want to uproot himself from the South-East, and adjust to the pressure of big club management I'm not sure. He could be another Allardyce but at the same time he did extremely well at West Ham, holding his nerve in a situation that looked absolutely hopeless. Trouble was, he was never popular with the fans down there, and he isn't the kind of larger than life character who can win the crowd over easily. Theleftfieldbutitmightwork option in my mind is that bloke at Hoffenheim, Ragnick. He was supposed to be interested in the job a few years ago, and may be just the kind of nutter we're looking for. I did say previously in this thread that Curbishley was about the best name anyone has put forward so far, and he wouldn't be a terrible choice, although imo he's not as good a manager as Keegan. I'm not even sure he's mentally any stronger for all Keegan's reputation for doing a runner.

I would far rather play against Celtic or Rangers in the Premier than Hull or Wigan, at least from the excitement generating perspective. There are issues though, mainly that the jocks always seem to have a massive chip on their shoulder, they'd probably think they were doing us a favour playing in our league.
-
Still a massive lack of genuine alternatives being put forward other than Shearer. The reality is there is no think tank at Newcastle that could produce a masterstroke appointment like Wenger at Arsenal. It's not just fans who clamour for local heroes, most owners are pretty clueless when it comes to football knowledge so it's a lottery with most appointments.
-
Footballers are pretty thick to start with tbh, how many good managers are there around anyway, regardless of race?
-
It's a shame Barton can't play football with his tongue because we see a lot more action from his gob than we do on the pitch.
-
Firstly, Ashley only ended up paying Keegan compensation due to his own wrong actions and this was proven by an independent tribunal. The fact that he was relieved it was only £2m should tell you everything about his cack-handed running of the club. Secondly, any new owner should appoint a manager on his ability to be a success, not his credentials to be a fall guy if things go wrong. Hiring a local hero does bring a bit of baggage, but if he is clearly not up to the job fans are hardly going to be up in arms if he's sacked as long as he's given a decent crack at the whip.

I tend to agree. Carroll, Shola and Ranger might not have scored too many goals this season but they have generally given the opposition a good battering and we've scored a lot of goals indirectly through their physical power and hard work. I'm not sure Owen, Viduka and Martins wouldn't just have disappeared up their own arses like Loenkrands has done so far this season. This might be a poor league but you still need commitment and hard work to win games.
