  1. West Ham did traditionally have this idea that they were a footballing team when I was growing up so managers like Allardyce and to some extent, Moyes were never going to catch the imagination of all the fans. Personally I don't like the football produced by either, trophy or not, so I can relate.
  2. Depends if we get the right man, and the right money. The money is down to us, if they want him they will have to pay enough to persuade us to let him go. But the right man might already be somewhere else now, and we might have been more settled and moving on already in a long term direction rather than starting again and maybe continuing Ashworth's work. We don't want to be doing this every two years though.
  3. Was watching Loaded Mag NUFC on youtube yesterday and some guest called Specks from Geordie Dredd TV raised a very good point: Basically us landing Dan Ashworth as a DoF has been a total waste of time. A DoF is a long term appointment, like Howe already said in his press conference. In hindsight we would have been better off going for someone who was committed for the long haul and would be building us for the next 5 years. Now we are starting all over again. I'm sure Dan will have put some good work in place, but you are left with doubts about his intentions, and whether he was a snidey cunt all along.
  4. I'm just surprised someone with Sir Jim Ratshit's riches was prepared to accept a minority holding in a company owned by such clear and undisputed cunts. It's not like he's become the owner, he's still just a shareholder at the end of the day. I guess he's in his 70's, maybe he feels it's now or never to get some public glory. Maybe his family are all shitbags and he'd rather splurge his money on some football glory than on them.

    NUFC Transfer Rumours

You read it wrong, I don't mean together as a pair on the pitch, I meant together at the club. Look at how many goals the pair of them got individually last season, there's plenty of games for them to rotate as needed, same will be the case for Wilson's replacement.

    NUFC Transfer Rumours

There's definitely room at Newcastle for two top line strikers. Isak and Wilson have both started plenty of games during their 18 months together, and they could have started more if they were available more.
  7. £60m was the suggested asking price in that Martin Samuels piece in the Times and it was a compelling argument tbf. Realistically it won't be anywhere near that, but I don't think it's worth Newcastle's while to do it for much less than £20m. Maybe there'll be a compromise reached at around £15m if we are feeling less spiteful than Man U were over Lingard two seasons ago. What goes around comes around.

    NUFC Transfer Rumours

Maybe Ederson as well if we can't come to terms with Joelinton. But I hope we can, not seen Ederson personally, but Joelinton is a lot of player to replace.
  9. His name dropping of Citeh and Pep was a bit pathetic as well. Really strange relationship they have the two Manchester clubs. You would think they would be derby rivals but Man U hate Liverpool and Leeds far more. Probably because they know that Manchester City supporters are genuine Manchester fans whereas their own fans are from everywhere else.
  10. Sir Jim Ratshit needs to have a word with the owners of Man U and why they so petty about pricing Lingard out of a loan move here when they hoped it would get us relegated. Then maybe come back and lecture us about how silly it is to put little Dan on gardening leave for 18 months. Oh and next time you want on of our backroom staff, approach the club directly instead of through your media wingmen.
  11. I think it was just one of those seasons when nothing would go in. If Willock stayed injury free for the majority of next season i could easily see him getting 10 goals. He gets into the right positions, and he has shown a finishing instinct in his first season here on loan. Can't wait to have him back in the line up, huge miss IMO.

    NUFC Transfer Rumours

On a positive note, it does show that Howe has a keen eye for a player. Nathan Ake is another outstanding player he discovered early on.
  13. I seem to read this a lot before we play a big team involved in Europe but it never seems to pan out like that.

The time to sign Solanke was this summer gone. His price will have gone through the roof now.

    Alexander Isak

Maybe we can put him on the bench and bring him on for the last 20 mins as a bit of a run out. Other than that, I agree, we won't need him to get us a result, the game will be gone as soon as we announce the starting 11.
  16. Hojlund is clearly a good striker mind, I liked him as soon as I saw him score his first goal in the PL, regardless of his barren run. Everything about his finishes screams a natural.
  17. That's another consideration, how many staff members were sourced by Ashworth, and is it possible he'll take them with him to Manchester when he finally completes his transfer to the the north west?
  18. I got the impression he wanted the job but we had never actually offered him it. In any case he ended up in Saudi so I doubt there's any bad blood, he was obviously earmarked for that role in SA itself. If anything that might be the reason he's not considered a serious contender for Newcastle now either, I would think the Saudis consider their own product more important than Newcastle United.
  19. The Jesse Pinkman gif was funny, let's give credit where it's due...
  20. He's highly rated by those in the know, I don't think there's much point in trying to pretend otherwise. But there'll be other highly rated people capable of doing a similar job, and also capable of committing properly to a club. In the long run, that will be better for us.
  21. He shouldn't be any part of the FA if he's that clueless about football.
  22. It's £1.5m a season so £3m in total. Chicken feed and well worth it if it makes his job harder for you lot.
  23. I wonder if he thinks Howe has too much input? Eddie does like a particular profile of player, and he's very hands on across a lot of roles at the club. Maybe little Dan wanted a bit more limelight?
  24. I don't think he needs to park the bus. But by sitting a bit deeper, we could look to draw teams in then release the front three, all of whom have some pace on the counter. It would only be a temporary tactic to suit the players we've got available, once we have the more mobile midfielders like Willock back you could revert to type.
