He's a forward, pure and simple. There's no point in signing him to play on the wing, that much is clear (if it wasn't already). Class finish btw.

Michael Owen - Would you be disappointed if he stayed?

He should go to Everton on 30k a week. -
You'll have to ask Blufescu. According to her we aren't capable of providing an atmosphere without the windbag.

Agreed. I thought he hid in this game but I have seen Guthrie do the same previously and he stood up to be counted today. Jonas' use of the ball was fucking terrible though.
-
I don't want to keep him, I just don't trust him to stay fit. At least he will leave with his head held high though.
-
We have been robbed. I've stuck up for Jonas till now but what a shit effort he put in tonight.
-
Fair play to you as well, I was convinced you'd tuck your tail between your legs and run for cover after tonight
-
We won through sheer bloody mindedness tonight. The football wasn't pretty but we just kept at them and they wilted in the end. Outstanding performers for me were Viduka, Guthrie, Butt and Duff. Jonas was disappointing but right now the result is all that counts. Well done lads.

Basically we need to rewind to the buying policy of Bobby Robson. Young, hungry players rather than clapped out "stars". Nicky Butt being brought in over SBR's head was the start of the decline for me. Of course spotting young talent is easier said than done, it would be great if they all turned out like Bassong. Even so, as a policy it's clearly got more going for it than signing names for the sake of it. Even the likes of Guthrie who has hardly uprooted any trees is a player of value. If we had a midfield full of players like him would we really be worse off than we are now?
-
More creativity than we have. But then again, which team hasn't. Winning the midfield battle is the major concern for me. We haven't done it all season against all teams high and low, but we have to win it today.

What's the point of quantity if it means signings like Nolan and Taylor? Today we are going into a make or break relegation decider with no proper right winger because Taylor is so bad he can't even be considered. Similarly, Nolan is too shit to replace Barton and so will be left on the bench. Pointless quantity signings.

I don't care how we do it, I refuse to believe that we won't win this one. Boro will be playing a bunch of struggling kids in a tense relegation fight on enemy territory. If all our experience and big name performers can't win us this one there really is nowhere else to hide.
-
I don't want to be relying on Man U's youngsters to get us a result, they quite often get beat by mediocre teams in the lesser cup competitions. If we win tonight hopefully by the last day we'll already be safe.

Beggars can't be choosers...we can take them

He did look noticeably uncomfortable moving around the pitch at Anfield. Looked to have a slight hobble throughout, so there could be something in this injury tbh. i think he's just bottled it, not for the first time as well It's pretty hard to run flat out with a groin problem, he's looked a shadow of himself without the explosive pace. He's a waste of space without it.
-
The two wide players would be a worry for me. Neither of them provide much of a supply line, and Loven has looked awful on the wing. The only alternative seems to be playing either Geremi or Ryan taylor on the right. Or play 4-2-4 and just hoof the ball long.
-
Barnes is injury prone but he's more the type of exciting young English talent I was expecting us to target. Not fucking Nolan and Taylor.
-
He's turning into another Owen, constantly injured and out of form. Crap end to a crap season for Martins. Marks out of 10? 3 and that's being generous.
-
He's only pencilled in for a role right wing . with a groin injury we'd be better playing someone else in that position anyway.
-
If we win tomorrow it's back in our own hands. If that happens as everyone is hopng I'll stop worrying about s*** like this...but i know what you mean. but on the flip side, bolton may be shit but sunderland couldnt beat them. and hull make sunderland look like argentina. villa are flailing as well at the moment On the flip side of the flip side, they have already banked the points, we are still on 31, same as boro and West Brom. We need to win tomorrow.
-
Just showcases Man U's strength in depth tbh. Like us, one or two injuries to key players for Barca and they're fucked.

Man U will probably hav sewn the title up by the time they play Hull. I doubt it will make much difference but I'd prefer them to have needed the points at that stage.
