Keegan seems to rate them, so as far as he's concerned, I don't think he'd find it a problem. Both have their uses, but like Shearer need players with legs around them.
-
5 players were bought for him (apparently), do you think Jonas, Coloccini, Xisco, etc. will see it that way? Are you implying that they would be offended by him resigning? If so, its a fair point, but the issue was with Nacho or Xisco and both did hold talks with him, Xisco spoke reasonably highly of him so... At the end of the day they are professionals but i truly believe the more influential memeber of the team - Given, Harper, Owen etc would of been gutted and slighlty resentful of the board for hs departure. Owen especially. has to be said aswell,in spite of everything, owen was fantastic today Owen was the best player by a mile, and I'm not even a fan usually.

Was Keegan after a central midfielder though? Guthrie was his buy, other than that, his main concern seemed to be keep Barton and buy a left back.
-
Why was he sat there by himself today?
-
Apologies to whichever wag thought that classic line up, it wasn't me but was there any significance in the fact hat: He was the one rumoured to have had the bust up with Keegan when KK resigned? He is the Ashley member with the least football knowledge so easily expendable? Llambias was sat by himself today to face the wrath of the crowd with no support from his backers?

wouldn't really disagree with that to a point, even though this is my thread bumped. A more relevant thread would be the 'rusty cogs in the engine room' but the search engine appears to be knackered so I ca'nt find it. Basically, not enough legs in midfield today.

We definitely should have made at least two more major signings, especially in midfield, so no it wasn't a success. I think people who are positive are referring to the likes of Coloccini, Jonas, Guthrie and Bassong being good additions. Hopefully the two new lads will settle in as well. The players you have mentioned there, not many of them would usually get a game but we had more than usual out through injury. I don't think any team has that sort of cover, other than Chelsea maybe. Not the best game to judge on.

As a coach and leader 100% yes, no one better. Dealing with transfers no. Which is of course how we got here in the first place.
-
I agree with you but until Keegan's had his shot, I'm just not sure our fans will give anyone else a fair crack of the whip.
-
That's three valuable points gone which we won't be able to get back. Unfortunately it has knocked our momentum and in the current atmosphere it might be hard to get it back. It's not the end of our season, but it might have a significant impact.
-
Yes, because until some of our fans get him out of our system it will be very hard to move on.

I know what you mean, he did that last time he was here. Last time Spurs, City, Villa and Chelsea weren't in a position to compete with his spending. To recreate the past we'll need to shoot their billionaire owners and hope their wives get all the cash. Apologies if I'm missing the point, but does that mean we shouldn't get anyone at all in? Why would it mean that? Like I say I might have missed what you mean. It read that you don't want Keegan (in particular) spending loads of money because he won't attract the right players. When Mick said he managed it last time, I read it that you thought its not worth it because all of those clubs are ahead of us anyway? What I meant was there is tougher competition this time round. When Keegan broke into the top 4 last time, he was one of the biggest spenders, backed by SJH. I could be wrong, but I am pretty sure Chelsea, Spurs, Man City and Everton didn't have as much cash to compete for the top 4 spot. This time even if Keegan gets £50m to spend there's no guarantee we will finish in Europe never mind top 4. So it stands to reason that any funds need to be spent wisely, unless there's a bottomless pit of money. I'm not convinced that's Keegan's strength. But if there is a bottomless pit of money, I'd love it to be given to Keegan ahead of anyone else.

I thought Bruce did pretty badly at Birmingham. He spent plenty of money and got them relegated after all. I agree though, he's probably a more likeable bloke than Ince or Poyet for what it's worth.
-
I'd love Keegan back but I'm not sure I want him back with all control of transfers in and out. Not unless Ashley is prepared to bankroll his signings without putting us into big time debt. IMO, even if Keegan spends £50m we still won't win anything because we'll probably have a bunch of over-paid big time charlies who won't have the hunger to break into the top 4.
-
If that's true, it pretty much scotches all this talk of Ambani being a Newcastle fan then. He's just going to whoever will sell up for less. Or just trying to make Ashley sweat a bit more. We shall see.
-
This attitude has been the problem at Newcastle since the Freddie Shepherd days. While Ince and Poyet are relatively unknown quantities, Bruce has been exposed as surely one of the stupidest managers in English football whose teams play ugly football obviously lacking decent coaching of any sorts. Yet some would still prefer him because he's a 'geordie'. No he's not, he's a f***ing manc imbecile. Nowt to do with fact he's a geordie and I dont want him at the club. I just said I would prefer him to Wise Poyet or Ince Why would you prefer him to Poyet or Ince?

What do you see him wanting then?

Would you have preferred they didn't try to get KK back first? Looks to me like it was a waste of time, seeing as they failed. The point is they've left it this long and STILL failed to get KK back. Seeing as there are two parties involved, along with their lawyers, why do you assume it is down to only one side to agree to the other's demands? Because Keegan resigned? Therefore it is he who has the gripe. I've never thought Keegan was blameless in all this, but I don't think he'll have been asking the world either. And I know who I'd rather trust with the future of the club. As I said, I just think this was a very large gamble by Ashley and it's not come through. Fair play for trying, but he should have been willing to make the changes required when going back after this long. He obviously wasn't. Another way of looking at this might be Ashley would like Keegan on board, but without limitless funds iwhich we are prepared to potentially write off, it just isn't worth it.

No, I get the feeling that we have tried really hard to keep Keegan on board because he's important to the fans. If he wants to control buying and selling though he should probably buy the club out.

Some credit would have to go to Ashley for making the u turn, it would take some dent in his pride to do that. Probably shitting bricks about the Hull game. I doubt he's made a U-turn, he's probably just trying to find a solution to a conflict between his employees. No, he let Keegan leave, therefore a u-turn You can't stop someone from resigning mate. To be fair, Chelsea are doing a reasonable job of it. Scolari wants to resign?
