That's why I think we release Longstaff before Willock. We have other players who can cover right side midfield like Tonali and Miley. Only Willock can really cover Joelinton. Of course we would probably sell Willock as well if we get a decent fee, and look to buy a replacement.

Think that will be the main issue. They should be able to do a job for someone in the Premier but the sort of clubs that will want them won't want to pay toon wages. I think that's the same for Targett.

If you changed that to immigrants being kicked in Sunderland to the point where they are barely alive it would sound more apt.

Tbf I think every club has a few of these. Decent workhorse types who the club have outgrown, but they aren't the easiest to shift because their wages are higher than a younger prospect who hasn't made their mark yet.

Well think about it. Howe was reportedly very keen on him a couple of years ago. He's now available on a free, probably not outrageous wages given his injury record and he's still only 28. Then add to that we could use our limited budget to spend big on other areas which are crucial and you can sort of see the logic. Oh yeah I forgot to mention, he'll be a PL striker who will be happy to be Isak's back up.

Plus there's been some murmurs of a new agent and Forest looking to give him a new deal. It's all just hearsay but it probably sows a bit of doubt.

I think it's Eddie's call, he wants someone he knows he can do the job he wants right now.
