  1. If he'd done the crying eyes celebration I'd be wanting Lascelles on the pitch to spark him out.

    Jamaal Lascelles

Yes that might have been better, but my initial first instinct was to start with "Are you dense? etc" so I felt I had reined myself in, but on reflection maybe could have been less acidic.
  3. I didn't think it was a red card on first viewing, and was convinced it would be overturned, but after watching it a couple of times I don't think the ref had much choice. Isak did get his ankles clipped, and he was through on goal. Knowing him he'd have scored as well.
  4. I would love to believe that, but Nunez was a hot property last summer and it was a pleasant surprise when he had a poor first season. But the way he took the goals, and his relative pedigree prior to moving to Liverpool makes me think he might come good this season. This will give him a major confidence boost for sure. Not that he ever looks short of confidence.

How else would you reply to "What the hell are you talking about?" I felt it was quite restrained in comparison.

He's been linked to a move to Besiktas. Try following the news.

I'm inclined to agree with you but with what's gone on off the pitch over the last week not sure he'll still be at the club when the game rolls round.
  8. Yeah I've a healthy respect for Schar's ability with the dead ball, but you need to be pretty damn near genius level to be taking the ball of Trippier in those situations. It's happened a few times now and it gets annoying when he does fuck all with them.
  9. Glad someone else mentioned how good Trippier was in the first half, I've read some criticisms today and thought maybe I missed something as due to family commitments I was only able to keep half an eye on the game. I did record the game as well but haven't had the heart to rewatch it either. Finally watched the MOTD highlights yesterday evening only to try and pinpoint how Nunez managed to find himself one on one twice in succession when they were 1-0 down and playing with 10 men. Both had elements of bad luck, but still feel we could have made the game less open when they should have been chasing the game not us. Burn was left for dead by Nunez, and even accounting for Bruno's pass being cut out, it's still a concern seeing him being turned so easily.
  10. I was surprised to find out it's his 11th loss to Liverpool running. Perhaps I shouldn't be given he was in charge of Bournemouth or maybe Burnley for a lot of those, but there is a step up in class when you are playing the very best teams. Until we can boast the same depth of quality in players though, his teams are always going to be second favourites against the like of Man City or Liverpool so comparisons are not really fair.

While I agree with the general sentiment, this doesn't really look like a random altercation, you've got 6-8 lads who by the looks of it have gone looking for trouble as part of a gang. Not even sure they are local from their appearance, so I would want to know what sparked it before making any judgements.
  12. He did misplace a few passes though, sometimes after doing great work in tight spaces to retain possession.

He's never been one who takes defeats very well tbh. Hope it wasn't a reaction to fans having a go.
  14. It's for that reason I often wonder if it wouldn't be better starting Wilson then subbing on Isak, because he's lightning quick and could do what Darwin Nunez did to us yesterday against tiring legs. But I realise he's our best striker so you can't really put him on the bench.

    Match Atmosphere

It's the younger lads who should be making the noise, that's how it used to be when we used to be in the stands. You can't blame the seats, because many of us who grew up with standing areas are still the ones trying to make the noise now, although it's much harder with a different type of crowd in there now. I know some of the generation younger than me who are there basically because their parents have got plenty of money and they think it's the cool thing to have a season ticket without either the parents or the kids having much of a clue about NUFC and it's history. There's no way you get an atmosphere going with wet lettuces like those in the seats.
  16. I was actually more gutted when the first one went in. After that I was sort of expecting them to get another somehow. I haven't watched yesterday's MOTD, neither did I want to read any match reports today. I don't even want to think about Liverpool after the year we've had against them.
  17. It doesn't look great if you can't impress your intensity against 10 men like. Maybe we just got thrown off by playing against a man less and started second guessing ourselves. Sometimes it makes more sense to just pass the ball around quicker and let them come on to you rather than chase the game which is what we did. Felt like we played into their hands somewhat.
  18. We'll win. It might be a bit like yesterday's game with us doing the smash and grab instead of Liverpool. Brighton will probably dominate possession, but they don't have many goals in them, and we are due to score a couple.
  19. I didn't see it quite like that, we kept missing chances to put the game to bed, especially in the second half. By that time we could have been up 4-0, but by the time it got to the last 20 mins I felt the writing was on the wall. It was clear they were coming back into the game despite playing most of the game with 10 men. I just felt we never really controlled the game the longer it went on, and with each costly miss.
  20. He must be devastated at losing to that ungracious cunt Klopp three times in succession. Still, even if it's a bitter pill to swallow, Howe has won games against the best against everyone else, or at least given them almighty scares before the refs stepped in. He deserves all our backing.

    NUFC Transfer Rumours

Barnes has already scored a decent goal for us mind, I wouldn't write him off after three games.

    Sven Botman

Nunez with his pace should not have been allowed any sniff of that much space to run into, especially when we were still a goal up playing against 10 men. Feels like we lost the plot a bit on the team shape for the last 20-30 mins.
  23. Joelinton also takes some time to get the ball under control, he was magnificent yesterday, but there are times when he gets surrounded and is battling three players for possession. You need someone who can get a hold of the ball quickly and move it before anyone gets close.

    NUFC Transfer Rumours

Yep. It does mean that we have to dampen expectations for this season though, some of these players aren't necessarily going to have an immediate impact when you look at the relative lack of top class experience with the likes of Hall and Livramento.
  25. I don't know if it has been discussed as I wasn't able to follow the match thread yesterday, but did anyone else find it disappointing that we allowed Nunez to get that much space on the left shoulder twice in succession for him to run on goal? Granted he got a lucky bounce for the first one, but still it was a bit risky committing so many forward when they were down to 10 men and basically praying we would do exactly that. Seems like we didn't learn much from last season's game at our place.
