Unless there's been an image released to show it was offside, that was onside as far as I'm concerned.

I think they would have been given the chance to build a title winning team. They have to work within the parameters of PL and UEFA rules when it comes to football.
-
I'm not even sure ours will at this point. I think if they thought they could spend their way to trophies, they would chuck whatever was needed at it. But invest in a new stadium just to finish 6th? If it makes sense from a financial POV maybe.

Yes I get that, it's been mentioned a few times previously. But it just means things would take a bit longer, doesn't mean they won't get done. They pushed a lot of boats out to get ownership of a PL club, even to the extent making peace with their bitter rivals across the border. Slow pace of development doesn't really bother me that much, what would be more concerning is if they have lost interest and moved onto some less problematic project where there are not so many hurdles chucked in front of them.

The timing wasn't right, but if Tuchel hadn't took the England job, I would have been quite excited to see him here. I just think his sort of personality would fit here, and he's mentioned us before so he seemed to be open to it. But right now I think the job is Howe's to lose. We are still in touch with CL places if he can get some form going, so we won't be looking for a replacement unless things really do take a dive over what's left of the season.

That all rings very true, but how relevant is it to Newcastle United? If it was Yasir or one of his underlings running the football club I could maybe agree that maybe everyone is just sitting back in their white robes and flip flops wondering why we haven't won the league. But haven't we signed really top class staff to run the club and make those sort of decisions?

FFP was in place before the cartel voted in PSR rules, but those rules were brought in specifically to stop us. That's pretty much common knowledge, even neutral journalists have said ourselves and Villa have been stitched up by them. Whatever respect I had for the PL authorities died after that, I see them as rubber stamps for the cartel now and that's about it. So anything which disappoints and dismays the cartel is ok with me. If that's City breaking their hearts then more power to them.

Think he's just got too much pride tbh. He left the club in acrimonious circumstances twice, and never got the trophy to back up all the adulation he got here. Add that to Howe's popularity and he probably doesn't feel it's right to take the limelight on the day. -
What have we got to be deluded about? I'm not even sure why we have got this reputation. Based on what? Not even sure why others even care about us enough to call us that considering we've done nothing in half a century. As for rules I am not even going there. Why would I care about City breaking rules when we've seen them invented specifically to stop us challenging the cartel? I hope the PL get shafted tbh, the whole thing is a stitch up.

Go on then.

I feel we are overcooking the Livramento thing. He's not Trippier, but not many right backs are. If Trippier is that important to our football then just play him. Personally think the midfield and forwards need to be showing more, while full backs overlapping is a big part of football these days, we should still be able to produce down the right without relying too heavily on a defender.
-
Their fans have always been a bunch of entitled twats who think other clubs should join in their Mersey anthem as obeisance to their natural right to win everything. They are the main reason I can't stand them.
-
Being 1-0 up at home against 10 men then losing is pretty close to disgraceful like. Might not be the words I'd choose but I would be lying if I wasn't livid when that happened.
-
It could be a repeat of this summer then. If Howe gets the sign off, and he decides only a proven player will improve his side, then we don't sign anyone other than another Osula type or young hopeful for the future. Then he'll need to get us to Europe with the players we have.
-
I wonder if it's a problem of wavelength? Tonali is a quick give and go type, Bruno seems to be more of a stick and hold. So basically if Tonali gives it to him and goes, he's not necessarily getting the ball back until Bruno's had a couple of touches by which time Tonali has probably sat back on his heels.

We were more effective in the second half of the season when he first joined and signed Burn, Trippier and Wood. Not because we played better football, but because we gave nothing away and defended brilliantly. Now we look like a side stuck between two stools. Attacking without real belief or intent, and looking vulnerable at the back when we lose possession high up the pitch. I just don't think Howe has worked out how to make this bunch of players work, and ultimately that's his job.
-
I think it's probably fair to say that any future signings whether January or the summer will be Mitchell-led. Can't see Howe being given carte blanche like he was previously unless we know for sure he's here long term.
-
Just seems weird to have agreed to sell Palmer unless he thought there was someone better already on the books. I'm guessing that would be Foden?
-
Yep, no complaints from me on that score. To think we were within grabbing another 3 points from yesterday's game is insane. A lot of our early games were like that.
-
Feel like Haaland is the least of their problems, he's a goal scorer whatever else his limitations. I look at their midfield and it looks weak and slow.
-
Makes you wonder if he even watches players outside of his established first team pool.
-
Honestly I thought playing as a midfield anchor he would be a star player. But then I don't really know where he plays for Brazil or even if he's a regular tbh.
-
After the easiest start to the season in years and relatively few injuries. We will need to find our identity soon because the season's not going to get easier from here.
-
They probably wouldn't want to leave if they saw a path to the first team.

I have an irrational hatred of Liverpool, can't stand their fans who seem to think they have a god given right to win everything.
