Yeah Tooj, go give it a good tug. Stay positive though G, we'll find a spot for him yet, bless his heart. -

we need attacking not defensive players ffs We could do with a defensive midfielder imo. Here's a mad idea.... How about we need both types of midfielder?? We lack any type of creativity and with Butt getting older we need someone to hold in midfield to replace him. Sounds good to me. Maybe Milner could play in one of the spots, given that he's failed mightily out wide? -
Ronaldo is still pretty bad for all of these things though. Thing is he makes up for it with sheer pace and a wonderful ability to score goals. Nani does have a decent strike on him, but I'm not sure he has the same eye for goal that Ronaldo does, and while he's quick it's not near Ronaldo's level. He's also much slighter and shorter than Cristiano so he's much easier to outmuscle and never going to be as effective in the air. He'll improve under Ferguson, of course, but I don't see him ever being a key player for them.

It all really depends on what we're planning to do with Barton really. If we're sticking by Barton then Sidwell shouldn't be in our sights, as he's not quite as good as Barton IMO and won't want to be here as his back-up. If Barton goes though he's a logical replacement, similiar type of player whose good enough to improve us. He's clearly a decent enough player, it's no coincidence Reading were soft as shite once he left. Just because he's chosen to sit on Chelsea's bench for the last year doesn't suddenly make him a poor player.

Not this season; he's been fairly shit every time i've seen him play. He'll probably turn into an excellent player once Ferguson's sorted him, though. Definitely needs to learn when to pass rather than going for glory. Sounds like somebody else in their first season at Man Utd a few years ago... Only Ronaldo was still only 17 at the time, whereas Nani is nearly 22. There not even comparable really tbh. That said, I think Nani is a useful enough player. Never be top class I wouldn't think, but a handy player to have in your squad.

Hleb has such an annoying face. I'll bet the Reading lad Murty has sleepless nights trying to deal with the fact that such a snivelly faced little rodent actually had the audacity to throw a slap at him. Very good player though tbh, but the fact that he never has a go at goal is what stops him being really top class for me, making his little outburst against Fabregas quite ironic. Pretty much any player worth their balls will have a go at goal when the opportunity presents itself, not Hleb though. I think he bottles it as much as anything, which is why he has less than 10 goals in 3 years at Arsenal.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/graphics/2008/06/25/ufnarsbrad125.jpg Does this really look like a man who gives a fuck what anyone thinks he's worth? He'll get his money, you just wait and see.

I'd just read your post in another thread, when I saw you'd bumped this I knew it was gonna be the exact same thing again. Actually one that could catch on though. Simple enough for people to pick up in the stands, yet original. Good work Richie boy!

Just what I was thinking To quote KK "I love it"

Only 5 assists according to Soccernet! What a useless cunt! Exactly. N'Zogbia and Geremi both managed that much for us man! Get him out. Nah, reckon we just need to teach him a lesson. Get the vaseline, Richie boy!! Still, he's better than Milner at least.

Don't really know the ins and outs of the ruling to be honest, but from what I do know of it it doesn't seem like a good thing. Odds are the smaller clubs are just gonna get fucked over with their best players leaving for pittances surely?
-
Would rather keep Milner tbh, we need the depth more than the money imo and Milner's a good, versatile option for a squad player. But if we can get in the neighbourhood of £8m for him then we can surely put that money to better use than having a solid, versatile squad player? Spent wisely it could get us a very important first team player. Anyway, great news this. Honestly never really seen him play at all but sounds like he'll add a bit of flair, which we desperately need.

The Turkish dude Sabri would get in my team anyway I'd say. Deco was very good for Portugal as well, but going out early tends to hurt ones cause.
-
Much as a I rate Iniesta, I didn't think he was at his best in the tournament by any means. Didn't play badly by any means, but hardly standout was he?

It makes no sense that you were the first to come up with that. Outstanding. How is that? It seems so obvious in retrospect. Like we all should have simultaneously had the epiphany you had. We on fire, so hot on fire Nicky Butt Butt Butt!! I reckon he's a chants goldmine in the making tbh.

Ray Houghton is the worst commentator to ever walk the earth, it's fucking painful to listen to him. Never has a good word to say about anyone, ever. It's all bitch, moan, complain about fucking everything. Sickens me that I once shook his hand many years ago in his pre-commentary days. I switch to ITV/BBC when the game kicks off then back to RTE for the punditry, which is legendary.
-
Consider this... If given the choice between Motson & Lawrenson on BBC or George Hamilton & Ray Houghton on RTE, I will make a real attempt to ensure that I'm listening to the BBC commentary. You simply would not believe how bad the RTE commentary is. Perhaps as a direct result of this, I actually think Motson and Lawrenson are alright.

When Spurs sold him for £4.5m in 1989 it was Spurs' biggest profit on a transfer deal for a player who had been bought in. It was only bettered when Carrick was sold to Man Utd. What a truly useless piece of information.

It's mostly people winding up Jon in all fairness, the poor guy's heart has been through the wringer the last week or so.
