  1. More than likely but against a Championship side, he might do decent enough. He'll probably score the winner
  2. De Gea could still yet develop into a top keeper imo. Just needs time methinks. Though his price tag was a bit too high.
  3. Erdinç, what a fool Looks like he'll be wasting his career if he stays at PSG. The lad needs a move if he want to progress. Like someone has said, it's looking like he's the French-Turkish equivalent of Alan Smith What a fool? Really? Have you seen any French football this season? During his last two seasons he has started 59 games in the league for PSG... this season they bought Kevin Gameiro and he has started ALL games in the league. He's one of their key players in a 4-2-3-1 formation. Erdinç is the second choice striker at the club. If Gameiro gets injured Erdinç will start upfront. PSG are building something big over there and he wants to be a part of it and fight for a place in the team. Isn't that the sort of players you want in your team? Yes. If PSG signs Kaka... Pato or Ba in the summer he will probably move on. He has the chance to stay at PSG to the end of the season and will probably win the league with the club and people are calling him a fool... He's also a fan of his club. Okay, admittedly no, I haven't seen much of Ligue 1 this season. Yes, from my understanding, Erdinç was the main man and had a good goalscoring record these last couple of seasons or so at PSG - I'm not disputing that. But from what I know, as soon as Gameiro came along, it all went a bit pearshaped for Erdinç really. Also, from what was written by the French posters in the summer, sounds like Erdinç has really been out of form and he was starting to get a bit of stick from the PSG fans as a result. Though atm, if he's not getting into the team, I can't see how he'll progress. I'll hold my hands up if I've made a big error in judgement here. The reason he's not getting into the team is Kevin Gameiro. But he wants to stay and fight for a place in the team. Can't see anything wrong with that. He kind of rejected offers from Newcastle and Galatasaray in the summer to stay at the clubs he loves. And his family lives in the country. I have no idea why you say he can't progress. I mean, he's not fifth choice! When Gameiro gets injured or is out of form he will get his chance. It's ridiculous to try to comment about players if you don't know their situation. Do you know the situation at PSG? If Erdinç has decided to stay at PSG this season - I would say it's a good decision - and it's embarrassing to call him "a fool" just because some French posters writes on a forum in the summer that he's been out of form. He started this season good and was rewarded with a contract extension. Nothing personal Sifu, but it's frustrating see people writing about something they really don't know much about. Well, looks like I've indeed made a big error in judgement here so I will hold my hands up. I guess PSG are a club in progression now, what with all the investment and all that so it would be understandable why Erdinç would want to stay. Just think his talent is being a bit wasted being on the bench (essentially waiting for Gameiro to get injured/lose a lot of form).

    Hatem Ben Arfa

Then we play HBA as #10 simples........ I am not saying play HBA on the wing all the time, theres clearly going to be games where he should deployed a #10 due to teams out passing us in midfield....... But against the majority of teams id like to see him on the wing. Makes sense really. Tactics should be adjusted accordingly - say we're up against a 4-3-3, I'd play Ben Arfa in the number 10 so that he can try and dictate a passing game and ultimately dominate the midfield. Though really in most games, he would be more of a threat from the wing. We saw on Saturday how much his influence grew in the game when he was moved out wide. Mind you, the way I see it is that Ba and Ben Arfa can play together and develop an understanding. Ba anticipates things so well so I reckon in the long term, it'll be Ba-Ben Arfa as the main attacking force (provided Ba is with us beyond this season and next ).
  6. Good news. It should be Ryan Taylor right-back and Santon left-back. In terms of defending, I rate Simpson higher than Raylor. True, but Taylor isn't that bad and I actually think that his competent passing and excellent dead ball delivery makes him a better option against opponents like QPR. Cannot wait for Santon to pocket SWP Oh aye, I agree with that. After all, Raylor does have a good technique (which helps his passing/delivery) so if Simpson is out, I'd be more than happy to have Raylor starting at RB. But in terms of a first choice RB, I'd have Simpson ahead of Raylor. Basically when Simpson is in the team, he just needs a player in front of him who isn't Obertan.

I'm liking the look of Branson in a NUFC strip tbh.

  10. Another journalistic masterclass from Ryder.
  11. The Sky cameras will probably try and find Barton in the stadium. Can see him travelling up for the game really despite being suspended.
  12. On Saturday, Pardew was asked about Ba's supposed clause but he dodged the question. We need some sort of comment from Llambias really.
  13. Why? Because we've been bit in the balls in the past regarding signing players on long term contracts, and then getting long-term injuries (*cough*Owen*cough*). I'd imagine Ba's the only player at NUFC atm with a release clause purely because of the apparent 'dodgy' knee. Still doesn't make any sense, the only reason this clause would be activated would be because he is playing well. If he was injured or s*** we would accept anything to get him off the books, NOT give him a release clause no club would pay when we were desperate to get rid. It does make sense though Jon, if we've given him a low basic wage and made his contract highly performance-based then it's potentially something negotiated by Ba's people to compensate for that. Nobody's saying it's something the club's insisted on, more something we may have agreed to. In that context I suppose it does, that's not the way I read TU's post though. I still find it hard to believe, criticise the board for whatever you want but f***ing themselves out of money isn't something they do very often and Ba's 'exploding knees' had us in the driving seat when negotiating a contract. Maybe the clause is true, just a number of factors make it very difficult to believe (as said we were holding all the cards, why hasn't a club spoken to him yet especially as the ACN must cause some difficulty trying to sign a player once it's under way etc..). A player who has scored 15 goals already this season at £5m isn't any sort of gamble at all, especially given the amount of games he has managed the past few years despite dodgy knees (think his career average was about 30 games a season, which means with a 1 in less than 2 goalscoring record you are looking at 15 games a season) as said, doesn't make any sense. Hmm, good point
  14. The condition of Ba's knee could put off some clubs actually. Would the more bigger clubs be willing to take a risk with him? As in will they be willing to offer him a better contract than what he has here and one which is long term? There's always going to be that risk that his knee could go at any time.....
  15. I've read that allegedly the team needs to be in the top six or be playing European football for the clause to be activated. If it was top 6 i would have thought strokeface would have bid already, he talking about Demba in a way that makes you think he wants him but cant have him, but doesn't want us to have him either, jealousy like, if you get what i mean. Indeed.....

Nope, because Virgin Money have only bought the shirt sponsorship rights. That Douglas from the Chronicle tweeted earlier that discussions about the naming rights were going on with Virgin Money fwiw. Ah so I see

  19. indeed. Still i don't get how Redknapp is allowed to say these things. I mean fair enough if you have been leaked details or a player's contract but you should not be allowed to then publicly spill them Because Redknapp is the world's worst at tapping up other clubs' players, that's why. He does it every summer and every January. There he is for the SSN cameras, leaning out of his Range Rover talking about players who play for other clubs. I was whinging on generally in the boozer earlier saying IMO all players (aside from commercial interests) should be represented by the PFA. They get paid, generally an obscene wage ruining football, and IMO it's only going to end in disaster. Not a bad plan whatsoever.
