    Alan Pardew

He's a Souness/Kinnear/Roeder calibre manager, and we knew that when he was appointed. The only tangible difference imo is that Ashley/Llambias' astute transfer policy (as communicated to us in a statement long before Pardew's arrival) has given us a squad with far more quality - players with the potential to move up to a CL club for big money, as opposed to going the other way, i.e. coming down from CL clubs as they approach the end of their careers - than what the previous lot had. But still, the negative and defeatist tactics, chaotic gameplans, rabbit-out-of-a-hat formations, bizarre substitutions, long balls, unwarranted favouritism, and lack of visible movement/drilling/coaching/preparation, are no different to what they were under the aforementioned managers. Can't really complain because of where we are in the table though, but given that performances have been relatively poor throughout the season imo, and with recent results starting to reflect those performances, it's not unfair to be expecting his teams to be playing better given the talent at his disposal.
  2. Twice from Ibra in the space of 2 minutes.

    Hatem Ben Arfa

Ben Arfa left wing, Jonas right wing. We won't see that this season because....
  4. Dejan Savicevic. Ridiculously great ball control. Redondo. The perfect defensive midfielder at his best. Denilson. Flopped after his big move, but even so, loved the flair he showed and the way he played the game. Roberto Carlos. Was remarkeable seeing a left back carrying a team forward on such a regular basis with such skill/effectiveness, and thanks to his ridiculous stamina levels, he used to be involved in the play so much it was as though he were two players rolled into one (a winger and a fullback), more so than any other fullback/wingback in the "modern era" imo. Brilliant player who was a key reason for Madrid winning 3x CL's during his time there (and had a solid 2002 WC too).
  5. Why didn't they show the replay of the goal starting with Simpson being nutmegged and holding his hands up like a fool (despite not stopping the player)?

    Harry Redknapp

Looks like a cross between Redknapp and Keither Sutherland. More like David Dimbleby and David Frost http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2011/02/06/article-1354112-0D090B7D000005DC-477_468x286.jpg http://t3.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcSIL_8AS9Wl9LfOF8fCqZ0l4aumC-Vsf-YgZC9peV4wuBp8QGg2lQ
  7. Gary Neville filled in for ManU at centreback on numerous occassions. Always looked class there. And clearly it was because he was a midget.
  8. Love midget centrebacks. They tend to conform to the theory that midget centrebacks have to be pretty damn good at defending overall to make it at this level/get in ahead of the 6'3 and above behemoth centrebacks scattered everywhere. Otherwise these midgets would get shunted out to the fullback positions.

    Hatem Ben Arfa

Better striker than Best on the end of that pass and it's a world class assist.
