  1. Errr, Joe Harvey?? Being 17 and only really having a very basic knowledge of NUFC history pre-1990 I have no idea who Joe Harvey is.
  2. So he was better ten years before, and there had been another manager less than five years before him who was better. That would kind of contradict the idea of him being a legendary Newcastle manager. He was better ten years before compared to what he was at the end. By the end of his reign I think it's well documented he had lost control of some of the more unruly players and was starting to show his age. Had he been 50 whe his reign at Newcastle started I truly think he'd still be manager now.

Nah. Don't think he would be good for more than a year.
  4. Legendary Newcastle manager for me. I'd say he's the 2nd best manager we have ever had after Keegan and if he had been 10 years younger when he joined us I truly believe he would have been the best ever.
  5. Hopefully he'll be able to play against Villa.
  6. Don't think he would want to come back after his experience last time.
  7. Quality just isn't there in the Championship and prices are going sky high there as well, for instance Preston rejected £6m for Nugent. Also why would we sign Giles Barnes in this window when we have 2 right wingers already.
  8. People natter on about Luque being given a chance, well take this into account. From out 24 league games this season Duff has started 12 and in just 7 of them has played in his prefered left wing position, also in 2 or 3 of those 7 we were only playing one striker, thus limits the teams attacking ability. I wouldn't exactly say from that he has been given a fair chance.
  9. What are you smoking? Or am I about to get whoosh'd.
  10. No way. I'm confident he will come good in the next few months, just been unlucky so far. Also I don't think we are that strong on the left wing anymore. Zog has been off form, Pattison has looked shit, so has Luque, O'Brien doesn't look anything special, Emre gives very poor cover to his left back and drifts inside too much and Milner is decent on the left but restricted by the fact that Nobby can't play 90 mins on the right wing anymore. Also selling players is really gonna help our stength in depth. :
  11. Lucas Neill is a right back and Anton Ferdinand is centre back. That should answer your question.
  12. I bet there were a few people saying imagine what Wayne Rooney, Rio Ferdinand, Joe Cole and Aaron Lennon will be like in 3 years time.
  13. Let's be honest who has actually watched him for a full 90 mins more than once? I have watched him several times and he is a VERY good player, even better when you consider he is only 17. Going forward I don't think there is a better left back in the championship and I'd say he is better going forward than several Premiership left backs. Defensively I will admit he is not the complete package, however I would say he is easily better defensively than Huntington or Edgar. Not to mention his free kicks are absolutely sensational. He looks to me like he could easily cope with the Premiership and he is only 17, just imagine what he could be like in 3 years time.
  14. Would love him here regardless of price. Will really show our intentions to be a top club if we did somehow managew to get him.
  15. Don't have a season ticket, as I can't get to every game but if I could get to every game I would definetly be renewing. I agree we are definetly in a dip right now but I'm confident we will get out of it and be challenging for the Champions League places in a few years.
  16. Portsmouth did the same last season and ended up staying up. West Ham are signing players who will improve there team and probobly keep them up.

Offered on the open market in summer........NO TAKERS trust the judgement of the other managers or yours......nuff said Did I imagine MON trying to sign him at Villa?
  18. Roeder said in the Chronicle this week that Lauren was offered but we turned him down.
  19. On the other hand SBR started by buying players who were going to spend only 1 or 2 years here just so that the club gets going and moves up the table...Then this little success will encourage bigger and better players to come to us...If we don't take these intermidate steps then we will not be able to improve the squad that quickly simply because the good players won't come to a mid table teams like us... The situation now is very different to when SBR came in. When SBR came in we were very much in danger of going down. Now with Roeder, once we get over this injury crisis, we are easily a top 8 team, possible even top 6.
  20. On the contrary I'd say he did very well with Kuyt. Kuyt and his agents would have known about Liverpool's interest as well as Newcastle's pretty early in the summer. We obviously tried to sign him but failed but at the same time we had Martins watched several times and were able to go to Plan B and get our man.
  21. It says shock return this season. By this season I'd assume it means April or May, by which time owen will hopefully be back.
  22. I understand that people will be unhappy we haven't got anyone in and may not do in this window but I think it shows how good Roeder's transfer policy is. He is the first manager in a long time at this club who is actually taking care when spending. Firstly, he is thinking long term, he isn't buying players who will only spend 1 or 2 years here he is going after people who will be here for 4 or 5 years. Secondly, he is clearly after quality, he doesn't just buy people because they are available he is going after players who could help us get back to the Champions League. Finally, by the sounds of it he is not being held to ransom. He's shown he won't pay over the odds when going after people, a good example of that being Bent in the summer. While his policy may not look brilliant in the next 6 months I believe in 2 years time it will look brilliant and we will have a good young squad like we had under SBR.
  23. Nobby is now our first choice right back so we didn't bid for Lauren. Diop is gonna cost £5m and is a crock in a position we don't need.
