Sorry, I assumed you meant something a bit deeper than the fact everyone has different thresholds, that bit’s kind of a given. As i say, we've gone off topic anyway. 👍🏻
-
If force didn’t come into it, then fair enough. But it does, massively. Ronaldo doesn’t have some magic body that stops bones breaking. Once an impact or twist hits a certain force, it doesn’t matter how 'resistnt' your body is, bones break, ligaments snap, and joints go. That’s why contact injuries are almost entirely down to luck. I agree with you on the soft-tissue side, lifestyle, recovery, biomechanics etc all matter massivley But with impact injuries, impact/threshold is everything. Cross it and anyone breaks. Stay just under it and you walk away. Lmapard is mentioned by TCD as someone with remarkable durability, even he broke his leg. It happens. That’s luck, not durability. We're going off topic a bit anyway, I don't know Ramseys injury histroy pre nufc in terms of types of injury, bot longstaff doing him at leeds is bad luck, nothing but.
-
why are you talking about muscle injuries? thats not what ramsey got here, it has nowt to do with it. Nobody would be arguing if we were on about muscle injuries, but we're not. edit: sorry, thought this was in response to me
-
Ronaldo being always available doesn’t mean he wasn’t lucky btw it just means he never got hit with the kind of bad luck moment that plenty of others have had. He absolutely could have done. Lucas Neill nearly did him, I rmemeber Lampard caught him badly as wel, thats just off the top of my head. Any of those could’ve been a Ramsey at Stoke situation. That’s got nothing to do with genetics, sleep, diet or mentality, it’s just pure randomness in a contact sport. Ramseys injury at Leeds is a prime example. No amount of preparation, stretching, discipline or body composition stops that happening. It’s either someone smashes you/lands on you wrong or they don’t. I agree if we are talking about muscle injuries and the likes, but in this instance, we're not.

Genuine question, how could he have avoided Longstaff doing him in the game against Leeds?
-
Yeah, but his injury was from impact, it could happen to anyone, he's been desperately unlucky really. I do take the point, but i'll reserve judgement on Ramsey until we've seen a lot more of him. I think he can be great for us, but let's see.
-
I'd say the opposite, personally.
-
No idea, but I wouldn't sell for a lot more than we paid, we'd be mad to, so I guess that answers the question!
-
Definitely not what we paid, he's an England regular now, you don't get them for £45m or whatever it was, or not 24 year old one's anyway.
-
It isn't half a season for Ramsey though tbf, he's played the equivalent of about 4 or 5 games. As I keep saying, i totally get the Elanga takes, but we've barely seen Ramsey and what we have seen of him is coming off the back of a pretty nasty injury.
-
The 12 months thing is a myth really, it's been honking this season for sure, but wasn't last up until about mid april when we played Villa.
-
Pretty sure he did, yeah.
-
It’ll be tough before tomorrow mind.
-
I’d put Miley at RB tomorrow, it’s been mentioned by Howe that he sees a future there for him. Tino and hall have to be protected, Tino looked fucked against Leverkusen imo and was non existent in the derby. Rest him. We could give hall and hour and tino 30 mins at left back maybe? One things for sure, an injury to either of those and we’re in deeper shite than we already are.
-
I forget Barnes started that day, and I tend to agree that it's poor that he is always shunted out.
-
The back 5 picks itself really. I think we'll see Bruno plus two of Joelinton, Willock and Ramsey. Barnes on the left, Murphy on the right and Wissa through the middle is my guess, although he may want to give Woltemade a chance to get a goal after yesterday. Edit - missed the 'i'd want' part of your post!
-
Botman isn't fit, is he?
-
I think he was asked recently and indicated his injury at Leeds was a nasty one and it'll take time to get him up to speed. Not sure when it was, but i'm sure it was in the last couple of weeks. I think he'll definitely be asked again prior to weds, though.
-
The away form is a huge concern, and that'll be where he stands or falls. Yesterday amplified it massively, and will continue to do so.
-
No credit left in the bank is wild to me, man. He's the best manager we've had in my lifetime (i'm 44), yesterday was rank and is rightly damaging. But no credit left in the bank for a fella who won a trophy 6 months ago and has us with another shot of another one isn't half harsh IMO.
-
Agreed on Elanga, he looks awful no argument whatsoever there.
-
Agreed, as I keep saying, it's too early to tell with him but it'll be interesting to know what is going on with him for sure. Willock is allowed to go in Jan, which makes it all the more bizarre. Can only presume it is fitness issues (again).

So there was no 'guard rail' this summer on the finance side, then? Utter nonsense, man. i don't even disagree on your other points, although the DOF one is way more nuanced than that. Call it what you like, our incoming successes far (far) outweigh our failures. It just seems that Howe gets hammered for the Elanga one and successful ones are down to others. No idea why, but thats how it seems to be. Anyway, agree to disagree, I guess 👍🏻
