I'm not sure I do agree, the drop off is insane. I get he may not be as sharp after missing a pre season, but to look like he does is nuts and you can't blame a pre season on that IMO. It's also not as if he sat pre season out injured, granted he trained alone but he still trained. As above, i get he shouldn't be as sharp as a result, but not this. Guess we'll see what Wissa does. He missed a large chunk of preseason and then had 11 weeks injured.

I agree in principle, I just work in prisons up and down the country and see what the system is like and how broken it is. There needs to be a middle ground for the likes of what Barton has done, IMO anyway. Not to mention the fact he's already been in prison and it clearly is not a deterrent for him, and the way sentences are panning out if he got 6 months he'd likely do about 6 weeks (if that), the whole thing is just a waste of time and money on a system that is already beyond repair. In an ideal world, i'm with you though, 100%. edit: I guess the middle ground is suspending the sentence.

yeah, the £ argument is majorly flawed IMO. That said, if wed have given him the deal he wanted last in the summer of 2024, he'd still be here, so it did play a part. I can't see it panning out for him there now, has a player with a hefty price tag ever turned it around and hit the heights expected after such a poor start? I can't think of one.

Very early days but I think he looks poor. He’s particularly weak on corners imo. Doesn’t inspire confidence at all. Gk overhaul needed in the summer, Ramsdale isn’t the answer based on what we’ve seen so far.
