  1. I thought they alternated between London and Newcastle, was it at Newcastle last year?
  2. What are you waffling on about now? Concentrate, if possible. Ambition is useless in the wrong hands, I'm not even sure if Shepherds ambition is to see the club win something or feather his own nest. The warehouse sale and lease had nothing to do with the club moving forwards to win anything, it was all about taking as much cash out of the club as possible. I couldn't give a shit if the club spends money or not, at least when it comes to spending money that we have got. I'd rather the club was ambitious to win something, actions speak louder than words.
  3. I'll have to disagree on the merits of the Souness CV, I've gone over it enough times while attacking him to try to see any positives after he left Rangers. I know Shepherd has tried something different this time but I think it's a massive gamble and one which will end in failure. It's not something which hasn't been done before, Dinnis, and McFaul were two caretakers who were given the job because of what they'd done while caretaker and add Charlton to that list when it comes to knowing the club. I can't see any logic in it other than it's different to what came before. Gaining control of certain players didn't have to be done the way it was, I think things could have easily been done better than the way Souness did them, he did what I expected and you probably expected, that's the worst thing about our last two managers, things have been too predictable and if the fans can see it then surely the chairman should also see it. Of course Roeder might turn things around, I hope he does but doubt it, we made one step today and need to keep going and make use of the next transfer window more than we have the last few.

    Only 48,000 today?

the thing is, when i brought up your poor attendences before, people were going on about it being a cup match and its different when it comes to the premiership but now we know what utter crap that excuse was. 4th bottom of the league and only 48,000, shocking but only because the crowd is so high.
  5. I don't know the answer to this, how many of the teams that drop out do well?
  6. It's not as easy as saying CL drop outs will be harder to beat as some will be playing in the UEFA because they haven't played well enough to progress. We might get a team who are on a downer because they are out of the CL.
  7. Good post and one I agree with 100%. The difference is that I don't think Shepherd can get the right manager to spend the money wisely, I really don't think any good manager would be willing to work for him and the last two appointments back this up. Would Shepherd have appointed Souness and Roeder if top managers were after the job? I know we argue quite a bit but I must admit to liking your posts, even if I disagree with them.
  8. I've said Shepherd is as bad as them, true. I've never said "that decades of selling our best players and playing in the old 2nd division is the same." Again, that's just one of those facts that only resides between your lugs.
  9. The first 3 consecutive top 5 finishes in over 50 years shows just where this club could be if Shepherd could get the right manager in, it's a pity that he fails at this so many times. As for your last sentence, another display of the contents of your head.
  10. I don't see what managerial appointments before Keegan have to do with Shepherd or why they should be a defence for him. The club appointed Jack Charlton who had done well before and after Newcastle and knew the club, they appointed Ardilles who many people looked upon as being a very good up and coming manager, he'd done a brilliant job at Swindon, a team who played very good football, we also appointed McFaul who knew the club really well and so did Dinnis. You slate the old board for doing one thing and use it as a defence for Shepherd, how can you have it both ways? Roeder was a supporter of West Ham yet got them relegated, how does knowing the club help? It didn't help him at West Ham so why should it help him at a club that he didn't support? As for the spending, I don't see how spending more than you can afford with nothing to show except for a massive loss is any better than not spending, the end result is the same, no trophies and financial problems. At least one or two get some satisfaction out of wasting a lot of money, I don't. I'd rather it was spent wisely or not at all. My wife can spend all of my wages on crap, that doesn't make her any better than if she'd spent nothing.
  11. Dyer against Spurs in the FA Cup a few years back is the best I think I've seen from him, even better than his last couple of games. It's the game which Ginola got all of the stick and was taken off.
  12. His part in the sacking of Sir Bobby is enough for me, his refusal to play at Boro was shocking.
  13. Fact is pre-1992, we didn't have as many back doors although we did use them when we could, you can now use a fair play back door. bluebiggrin.gif Do you agree that league position is the measure of success? It's what you've used in the past when it's suited you, how has Shepherd done regarding league position?
  14. I can read properly, I read the bit where it mentioned panic buy and responded, did you miss that bit? Just beacuse the thread title says one thing doesn't mean everybody has to agree although I wouldn't fault the way Sibierski has scored important goals for us and has given 100%. Sibierski lacks one of the most important assets of a forward, pace. On Thursday we played some brilliant balls to him but he got nowhere near them because he's too slow.
  15. Sibierski had to be a panic buy/free, his impact doesn't change that.
  16. for what? Not you. What? It was a sarcastic smiley but not about you. bluebiggrin.gif

    Scotty Parker

How many tackles/interceptions did he make today? How many times did he dribble with the ball and create something for others? He was excellent today, I thought it was possibly his best game for us. is that not his ****ing job like? are we just happy he can only do the basics like? Of course it's his job, that doesn't mean he shouldn't get the praise for doing it well. His game today was far better than doing basics as you put it. He ran the middle of the park for us and I'll give him the credit he deserves just like I'll slate him if he deserves that, today he didn't as he had a good game.

Absolute bollocks, he was one of our best players today.
  21. I'd be happy to place a little bet on that one, my tenner says he didn't. Please don't start a poll on it.
  22. I haven't given up all hope but he'll have to raise his game a lot to justify his place in the team.
  23. Roeder must take a lot of the blame for us being paper thin. He either didn't do enough to get people in by his dithering or he allowed Shepherd to walk all over him, I don't know which it is but I'm sure it's one of the two, either way he's got to take a lot of the blame.
  24. Duff will not be missed, £5 million down the drain which could have been spent where we needed it rather than just because he appeared to be a bargain.
