Our Bobby Shinton top scoring wasn't very good and I paid to see that.

I think he is fit enough to return now, or was yesterday so he may well be injured again.
  5. It worked really well with Ranger, he's gone from being close to being late for training and turned into an absolute moron and a waste of space.

    Hillsborough

The inquest into these deaths must be re-opened and all of the evidence should be heard, they can't hide the truth anymore so anything else would be pointless. It's laughable that families of the dead received around £6,000 while 14 police officers on duty received £1,200,000 in compensation.

I'm sure it was a turnstile that the police woman climbed on but it was a long time ago, it was to the left of the exit which they used to let the Liverpool fans in against Forest.

It was, you're right, we were playing away to Norwich that day because I remember watching the news in Great Yarmouth. They still should have learned from it.

The worst thing about Hillsborough is that the Bradford fire happened 13 months earlier and people had problems getting out because of small walls which were not as high as the fences at Hillsborough. If Valley Parade had fences like Hillsborough then thousands would have died but no lessons were learned. Football fans were regarded as and trested as animals.

I missed this post originally. One of my mates said her tits were out as she was getting onto the turnstiles, I didn't see that though but seem to remember that she had blonde (head) hair.

Another problem was at Rotherham or Watford (I think). You had to get into the away end down a back lane and we always took thousands to away games so the crush was terrible the closer you got to the turnstiles.

The worst thing for me isn't what happened, it was an accident and they do happen. Somebody made a decision to open the exit gate and allow thousands into the ground in a short space of time but they did that because people were getting crushed and they tried to prevent that. For me the cover up is a disgrace because that's been done wilfully and it's been done to try and blame innocent people for what happened. I've just watched a documentary about Hillsborough and it was chilling watching it as I've almost been crushed a few times. The worst was at St James' when I was queuing up for FA Cup tickets in 1974. We queued up all night on Barrack Road and were getting crushed up against the gates at the corner of the Leazes/West Stand and I was off my feet and was carried from the gates to the turnstiles because we had to go through turnstiles to get tickets as if we were paying into a match. We went through the turnstiles and straight out of the exit gates. I also remember going to Sheff Wed and they didn’t open the end which was in the left corner of Leppings Lane and the crush in the middle was awful and at times we couldn’t move unless the whole crowd moved because we couldn’t touch the ground. Even when we came out after the match we had problems because the exits were kept shut and people were pushing to get out and the police had to get on top of the turnstiles and they were dragging injured fans onto the turnstiles because they had been crushed and had passed out. Coming out of Anfield was also a problem because we came out at the top of the stand and through a small exit which was at a canny height and the railings around the steps were at waist heing and they kept the exits locked so we couldn't get down the stairs and everybody behind was pushing to get out and we couldn't move. I was amazed that nobody went over the top or that the wooden railings had never snapped. I mentioned a couple of days ago about the Notts Forrest Cup game. We had no option but to get onto the pitch but we were lucky that we weren’t fenced in or I’m sure somebody would have died during that game because people at the back kept surging forwards. Whoever thought up the idea of fencing people in at football grounds should be shot with s*** and they are ultimately to blame for people dying at Hillsborough, not the police who opened gates.

Kelvin Mackenzie is a bellend of the highest order. I hate that bloke with a passion.
  14. The whole Gallowgate was a toilet, you knew when somebody was pissing because a big gap would open up in the crowd.
  15. He was on loan from Liverpool and he did go to Sunderland, we also signed a mackem forward on loan around that time, was it Alan Brown who played 5 times and scored 3 goals for us?
  16. Howard Gayle was the first black player that I can remember and his song was "He's black, he's broon, he's playing for the Toon, Howard Gayle, Howard Gayle." I didn't mind that song at all as it was probably the first positive (at least non-negative) song we'd sang about a black player. The mass racism disappeared to a large extent once we'd had him playing for us.
  17. The smell from the brewery wasn't too clever either.
  18. I thought that was what Jack Charlton called Tony Cunningham.
  19. I only ran on the pitch to get away from the crush in the Leazes, my mother went mad when I was spotted on TV. Some relative of Paddy Conroy started it. The rumours at school was that it was his uncle, he claimed that it was his dad so I'm not sure which was true. He can still be seen with his trousers down to his ankles as he was taken away by the police if you search youtube.
  20. To be honest, I was brought up better than that. I had to even get out of my seat on a bus if a female or older person was standing, if I didn't my dad would clip me.
  21. I've heard monkey chants from behind both goals and seen bananas being thrown on to the pitch in the 70’s and 80’s. The monkey chants weren't 1 or 2 people, they were made by almost everybody in the Leazes and Gallowgate. Our fans would sing "He's a wog, a wog, it's plain to see, to see, he's blacker than you and me, he's a wog a wog." I remember a programme on TV about black slaves in America that brought about a chant of "Roots" which was the name of the programme, another was "Chicken George" who was a fictional character in Roots. They would also chant "You black bastard." Strangely, we didn't really have a problem with racism away from the football match. I went to matches with a black lad and it was embarrassing having to stand next to my mate and he was having to listen to and put up with that shit. Luckily, I haven’t heard anything in years. The racism was a step up from what normally happened in those days with chants against anybody who stood out. If a player was losing his hair that was picked on, if somebody was looking over weight then chants of “You fat bastard” were used against them. No matter what people think, things have changed for the better, even if this sort of shit hasn’t gone completely.
  22. Our 4 is Krul, Harper, Elliot and Alnwick.
  23. It was about as realistic as it was that we'd replace him.

If he's driving all over the road and appears to be drunk, no. I worked shifts and got pulled over a couple of times a week until I got sick of it and went to the police station and complained. I complained that the same police officers were stopping me even though I was doing nothing wrong and also that after a few weeks it should have sunk in that they kept pulling the same car over and the driver was going from work to home.
