The Newcastle United Transfer Thread: D-Day [Spoiler: Not Much Happens]

I wouldn't be surprised if Luke Edwards has seen the thread that HTT started and has had a stab in the dark about why Mort was at the game.
-
I also hope it's true, we'll just have to wait and see but the article looks to be a lot of nothing which is a pity.
-
Have I missed something? Ashley hasn't binned him or if he has then it's been done on the quiet. All we have is something by Luke Edwards which tells us about Mort being willing to come back yet it doesn't carry a single quote from Chris saying that he'd come back. Edwards has probably picked up on Mort being at the Spurs game and come up with something which may be far from the truth.

It was a typo, I meant 6th to 12th.

Team: Newcastle United Current Position: 12th Where did you expect your team to currently be: I didn't have any expectations going into the season other than improving on last season. I think if we still had Keegan then we would have picked up an extra 12 points that we've dropped. We might have dropped some that we have managed to get but I think we'd have been at least 6th because of the crazy league we've seen so far. Best player so far this season: Probably Bassong because of his low starting position, he came in for next to nothing and has established himself in the first team while putting in Man of the Match performances. Worst player so far this season: Nicky Butt, he's one dimensional and holds us back as a team because of it. The number of penalties he gives away is unbelievable and proof of how much of a liability that he is. Best game so far: Man U away, that result really should have given us all a lift and set us up to produce better than we have up until now although it has to be said that the lesser teams are the ones where we are having problems getting results against. Worst game so far: Stoke at home, we threw 2 points away after taking a 2 goal lead and dominating the game for the entire first half. That game alone has cost us the points which would have us 3 places higher up the league Who would you like to sign in January: A central midfielder who has pace and can spot and make a pass without hitting the opposition, that player will not be easy to find. Who would you like to sell in January: It's not going to happen but I'd like to see the back of Butt as he's the player getting the most games who I don't rate. Shola, Smith and Duff I can live with because they don't get regular games for whatever reason. Thoughts on your manager so far this season: I can't put it any better than 2J has so I'll leave what he said. He's made some big errors at times that have cost us, but he may actually now be learning from his mistakes, which is a good sign, as he's man enough to admit he's wrong when doing this. He's came in, steadied the ship at a time when nobody else would. Although don't get me wrong, he definitely had an agenda behind this as it puts his name back in the frame for other jobs and was his last chance to re-ignite his career. But actually seeing Charlie play ahead of Duff and Bassong ahead of Taylor is something that most fans want to see, although initially it was forced upon him by injuries, at least he hasn't allowed those to get straight back into the team. General thoughts on your team so far: We've got a better starting 11 than we've shown over the season so far but we're learning to get over mistakes so the future might be a bit better than it looked a month ago. Where do you think you’ll finish from this point to the end of the season: Anywhere from 5th to 12th, get in a couple of good signings before the window closes and we could end up having a good season.

OK so you don't condone parts of the ground being closed but you're still the only person I've ever seen mention it. As for the club backing safe standing, it's pointless as it's MP's who make the decisions and the club have to abide by that, no matter how they feel about it. By the way, the Germans are looking at going all seater. Franz Beckenbauer told the government: "You were right. We've got to go back to all-seater stadiums."
-
Of course I've heard about boycotting, I haven't heard anybody trying to get parts of the ground closed down though. You need to think about what the club have done, they've given you the singing section you wanted and you're now kicking them in the bollocks for it. They went much further than anybody wanted because they knew that younger people don't get paid as much as the older fans. They've done something which was promised by Sir John Hall but never implemented, they've introduced prices to suit every pocket, or at least gone a hell of a way to doing so. Your argument isn’t with the club, it’s with the government and the local council, the club have no option but to enforce the no standing rule and that's not me condoning an arsehole who thinks he can assault people for standing.
-
You're the only person that I've ever seen mention it anywhere. Multiply the number of people sitting in that end by the reduction and I'm sure it will be well over £500,000 per season. I sit in the Leazes but not Level 7 although I have done but not since the singing section came about. I mentioned the worst view because somebody else had said it, I agree that it isn't but the reduction in prices has nothing to do with the view. It was to make it easier for younger people to attend games, you've shown the club were right to put some faith in you. All I'm saying is that if the price goes up, remember why. The ticket allocation has nothing to do with the club, it's Middlesbrough Council.
-
Protest all you want but don't moan when the club has to take a stance and do something, just remember why it happened.
-
The club hasn't got any say in the matter when it comes to standing and anybody who stands is asking to be thrown out because the club has to be seen to be doing something about it. For somebody to come on here and to find parts of the ground being closed down as being acceptable is madness. I'd rather stand than sit but it's not an option and it has caused us problems at away matches as we've had our allocation reduced because of it, it was reduced from 3,000 to 1,800 at Boro. The club have gone as far as they can, they were asked for and created a singing section at a cost to the club. It doesn't matter if it is the worst view in the ground, last season we charged away fans the full amount to get in and we've reduced this for our lot. Don’t come on here moaning if the singing section ticket prices go up next season or if the club does something more drastic, it’s you own fault for repeatedly standing when told not to.

The post was moronic at best.
-
He just needs a few games up front, give him a chance.
-
We'll have to finish 3 places lower than out current position to be where we were when he first signed, we'd just finished 14th.
-
I agree with NE5, he's waiting to see how we are doing and will make a footballing decision. He's 29 and will want the best chance of winning something before his career is over, I don't blame him.
-
I'm going for 2-0 to us and 9th in the league.
-
Shut it, Grandad.
-
MOTD is horse shit, it's too easy to pick up on one or two things during 90 minutes and forget about the other 80 something good minutes, the best footballers in the world make mistakes so a kid is going to do the same.
-
He was all over at the back today and I mean that in the best posible way, he was excellent although I don't know how they scored or who was to blame for that as they got from a Shola nightmare to a goal in no time.
-
Not really as I don't have anything else to say other than he hasn't spoken to Ashley for quite a while and certainly not in the recent past.
-
It would have been 1 if we had of scored before the 90th minute.
