  1. Do a google, I know the house of commons has a website and somewhere on it gives contact details for all MP's, some of them have an e-mail address which you can click on and it opens an e-mail form. I don't have time to find it now but could look tomorrow if you have no luck. The site I'm on about lists pages and pages of contacts but I've never even looked for it for the past 2 to 3 years but I would expect it's still around.
  2. Also, try contacting local MP's to join in, try to get the Man U fans to contact MP's local to them. I know a few MP's were trying to get an early day motion regarding safe standing so you might want to find out who was involved and get them involved, I think Kate Hoey the former sports minister thought safe standing was a good idea.
  3. Safe standing will only become reality if the government change the law, Newcastle United Football Club has nothing against standing if it's lawful but they must enforce the law, it's as simple as that. Marching through the streets is only any good if you get publicity and MP's on board. Marching to the ground will do no good if you're trying to get a message across to the club. On a side note, getting opposition fans together has got be be good, it wouldn't have been possible 15 to 20 years ago as they'd only ever get together for a battle, well done for that.
  4. I do agree that this season has been nothing like I or we expected. I thought Allardyce was perfect for the job when he was first appointed but that changed the day we looked as if money wouldn't be a problem, I'm not having a go at anybody with that remark, it's just the way I see it. Even then, I thought the bloke deserved a chance to show what he could do, none of us could have known how he would do and I had a feeling that he could raise his game while also being worried that we would become a bigger version of Bolton, I said that at the time but can't be bothered looking for my post. I'm not worried about the long ball because if you have the right personnel then it can be deadly and it's a valid part of the game. It's awful though when you do what we do and play kick and rush. To play the long ball right you need somebody who can play a ball over the opposition defence when you're drawing them onto you, then you need a forward or midfielder with pace to get beyond the last man and into space between him and the keeper, we were really good at that both under Keegan and Robson for a while. I think you're right about Mort being cautious, that isn't always a problem and I think Keegan can get around it, he's also the choice of those in charge so they must have faith in what he's going to try to do, we'll soon see. I also think they do have ambition but were unsure about Allerdyce so they were never fully behind him the way they will be with Keegan. We’ll only know in time, you should give them a chance because we’ll all benefit if they do get it right, if they get it wrong then they’ll deserve all the flack that they’ll get but I’m not giving them that flack until it’s justified.
  5. Sacking Allardyce a month before the window would have been my preference, at least rather than when they did, delaying until they did makes no sense as we were in the same position regarding having no manager lined up but effectively tied the hands of whoever eventually did come in. The players we needed were not the same as those needed by other clubs so bringing any manager in, not just Keegan, was done at the wrong time as a manager of a different club would have had different priorities and targets. I think the timing of the Allardyce arrival was spot on as he had time to look at his players during competitive games before going out to strengthen what he had inherited. Obviously I have no idea if Roeder was pushed or jumped but if he was pushed it was spot on.
  6. To be fair, we were never flying under Allardyce once he picked that shit formation to play away at Derby, the team that is still looking for its second win in the league, a team who have taken 50% of the points they have won at home and 33% of the points that they have won away, off us. We are in a relegation scrap, a scrap I still think we'll survive if Keegan gets his team right and uses the pace of Martins and the defensive capabilities of Enrique, Faye and Baye. He also needs to build on some of our first half performances under him and get the players performing for 90 minutes.
  7. I can't see the timing of Keegan coming here had anything to do with him not wanting to bring players in so I would think that he would have also came earlier if approached, I don't see any reason at all for any delay in bringing him in as being beneficial. Why would he not come here a few weeks earlier, rather than when he eventually came? I can’t see anything that would logically suggest that an earlier approach would have resulted in a knock back from him. He either wanted to come here or he didn’t, in fact he’s said that he’d always wondered if the club would come back for him when we were looking for a manager. I agree about him losing the job in the last month or so, I think the club saw the cup draw against Arsenal and realised that we were almost certainly out of the FA Cup and were struggling in the league and had a nightmare set of fixtures coming up.
  8. I'm not using hindsight at all, I'm repeating what I said a lot closer to the time of either Allardyce getting sacked or Keegan coming in, I can't remember which. As for the highlighted bit, does that not mean the timing was wrong? That's the way it reads to me, I don't know how others see it.

That's not your mate, it's Iain Dowie.

. Who are the zulus? I remember when they (Coventry) delayed a kick off, I think it was against one of the Bristol clubs and they both played for a draw and the mackems were relegated by everton ( I think). I would normally be over the moon about that but I just thought that it could have been Newcastle, cheating bastards and they got away with it.

It didn't even feel like being at a football match the times I went, it just felt all wrong, horrible.

I would have offered to pull down Highfield Road myself, those seats behind the goal were horrible.

I'm not having a go at you but it's too easy to wallow in self pity, the whole club needs a lift and that includes the fans, we need to be positive and have the players thinking that they try something without getting stick if it goes wrong. I know what we say on here doesn't affect the team, at least individual posts don't but if we go to games expecting the worse then that negativity will eventually get to the players because every mistake will just bring a load of groans from the crowd. It's about time we forgot about the past and just went for it and tried to make players feel comfortable when trying something different, it was only a couple of days ago that somebody on here was saying that we should let the players know how we feel. I'd rather they thought they could try something with the backing of the crowd than feel they were going to get slaughtered for the slightest mistake, we need to get over it and move on. I'm sick of the negativity, it's not doing any good at all.
  14. I'm not sure it was knee-jerk, that would have happened earlier when Ashley was sitting amongst the fans, I really think they had a target which Allardyce had to meet and when it became almost impossible they just went for it.

Cracking post, if only the blind could see it.

I'd have given Allardyce the sack earlier or given him until about the Man U game coming up then sacked him and given a new manager an easier start. Any lift from a new manager has been lost because of who we have played recently and we're now relying on Keegan being a better manager than Allardyce, which I think he is anyway.
  17. Sorry but I've got to disagree, the timing was wrong, if Keegan had of been in earlier he could have seen what he had to work with and what was needed to improve on what he inherited. Bringing him in during January meant that he didn't know the players so could not have known what was needed to improve the first team. He came during January when we had players who he couldn't even see in training because they were in Africa and he thought we needed a new defender when we had Faye and Beye, arguably our best two in that department away from the club. What we needed was creativity and somebody who could do some damage up front, Parky wasn't the only person to say we needed creativity in the summer, it was plain to see what we needed after bringing in the players that we did. We brought in grafters while getting rid of two potential match winners in Dyer and Solano, Dyer might have been a prick but he had something which we are lacking, speed, defenders hate having players run at them and he could do that when motivated. The only player we have with any speed now is Martins.
  18. Chez, you need to look at who we played both before and after christmas. You could claim that Allardyce would have done better against Bolton but I would have said the same before playing Derby twice, Wigan, Reading, Stoke (not league but I'd have expected better). Since christmas we've had 4 players away on international duty and 1 retard locked up then unable to play because of bail conditions. To make it look as if something unexpected changed over christmas is wrong.
  19. You also started one about us finishing higher than Arsenal.
  20. Ashley isn't beyond criticism, I've already said that I think he (along with Mort) got the timing of the Allardyce sacking wrong, he should have gone either earlier or later, do you agree with the timing being wrong?
  21. Give us an idea of how our summer spending compares with the previous 10 so that we can put our spending into context. As for January "Newcastle thrashed out a proposed £7 million deal for Middlesbrough defender Woodgate on Friday."
  22. Why? Do you think he wasn't given money to spend?
  23. Who made the mistakes? It's up to the manager to rectify the signings that have not worked, the signings which Allardyce made so yes if we go down Allardyce should take a large proportion of the blame, but not all.
  24. Allardyce as manager made decisions on who came in and who went out, unless you know different, something which I haven't seen suggested anywhere but on here. Allardyce chose to bring in Smith and Barton and still could have bought more players as it was said right up to the window that we had money to spend. It’s not up to the chairman or owner to identify who goes and who comes in, even if it has happened here in the recent past. The first debt repayment came in mid August, that was for £30 million, the rest was paid off later, when the transfer window had closed so had nothing to do with how much was spent.
