If he plays tonight that would imply who's more to blame over this (to me anyway).

I can well imagine Taylor, who isn't the sharpest, saying or doing something to annoy Carroll, who is a hot-head, and getting a slap for his trouble. Got Shearer v Gillespie overtones this, nothing more, just a worse outcome for one thats all.

I watched the game last night on the TV. Leon Best looked cack.

Shame those three won't be there next season though!! That team, now, in the prem would win a couple, draw a few and lose a lot.

Got a packet of 'Barca' themed (not flavoured) crisps as a souvenir for myself during a daytrip to Camp Nou/Nou Camp while on holiday a couple of years ago in Spain. After that it was off to the zoo to see the white gorilla and then a couple of hours in the city centre - bonny place, fancy another visit someday. The white gorilla has been dead for seven years, have they painted one of the regular ones to trick tourists? Ha, aye maybe they should, the viewing window for him was mobbed, Was using couple to mean a canny few....bairn was a bairn then, she's 17 now.

Is Mike Ashley steering Newcastle United in the right direction?
Offshore replied to LooneyToonArmy's topic in Football
Title should have 'finally' before 'steering' tbh. If he/we make positive progress anywhere near the speed he took us going the other way then i'll be happy. -
Put players on a basic wage with a performance related bonus scheme in place.

Do any other leagues do this? And will EUFA even allow this if we're the first to suggest it, seem to remember they came out pretty quick to when it was mooted to have the FA cup winners given a champs league place a few seasons ago.

The only thing that needs looking at it to allow the ref more leeway 'if' he thinks the player is heading away from the goal when he's brought down by the last player in the box, that 'should' be a yellow and a pen.

Think I read something somewhere that a french player was dropped from the world cup finals (80's I think) as he was bending one in with another squad players wife. edit after google search - Pablo Larios, sent home from 1982 finals for 'alledged' affair with Michel Platini's lass.

Gotta be Rio. Probably the only one who Terry wouldn't have to take over the teamtalk from.
-
Self inflicted - Gazza Inflicted upon him - Gary Shaw (I think thats his name, the Villa kid who helped them win the European cup but got his leg/knee smashed) Could have done better - Le Tiss - I know he played for 'his' team, but imagine what could have been if he'd gone to one of the bigger teams.

Be interesting to see if Simpson and Routledge can develop as good an understanding on the right ala Jose/Jonas.
-
Reminds me of Fraizer Campbell - prem sub as opposed to first team regular.

Teams with strength in depth always do well in the league, we dont have that. Oh wait..... Teams that put out their 1st team usually do better regardless of what competition it is. Yes, but I didnt mean strength in depth as in play the subs, I meant play the 1st team in the cup, and have decent/adequate replacements for the league if players get injured in the cup, we dont have replacements good enough. You do realise in terms of injuries, this season has been nothing compared to the previous ones right? And when we did get injuries, Shola and Jonas, we had a blip. I get your point, but you can't second guess when/if a player is going to pick up an injury by looking at the fixture list. Could be next game, could be next year, could be never....

Silly argument. Players, increased finance etc.. Not many top players will be thinking "well they are still in the championship and have had to sell their better players but f*** me they got to the quarter finals last season, sign me up!, whats that? you can't afford to pay me much, oh well you did well in the cup last season so I don't mind" Eh, thats a pop at those who say that as we're obviously not going to win the cup, then why try in the first place.......so if thats their stance then the same applies to a point with the prem.

As we're clearly not going to win the premiership next season, why bother going up? A good cup run, or at least making a decent go of one is just as important confidence-wise to the players than them being told and thinking that it's ok we lost as we're concentrating on the league.

Ooooooooooo ya fucka (again)

didn't we do something similar with Woodgate?
-
As a loanee until the end of the season then no problem, but if its a permanent signing then id rather go for Pennent (sp)
-
As a bare minimum we'd need 2 good quality, reasonably pacy midfielders and 1 good striker. Get those and we'd stand a chance.

Yay. He's a competent defender who would probably get forward and overlap more in a game like wor Enrique if he had someone half-decent in front of him.
