Allardyce Interview in The Times - transfers, season's targets and the fans...
STM replied to EthiGeordie's topic in Football
Allardyce said in the Sun that one of them wasn't happening, " a no go" in his words. However he said the other one is still on. I think Mario Yepes name was mentioned. -
Their names shouldn't be put in the same sentences TBH. They aren't. I deserve that for being a clever cunt. Lesson learnt.

N'Zogbia doesn't deserve to be dropped but it's hard to see where he will play if the likes of Enrique come in. Sam may keep the same side.
-
Your right i'm being a bit harsh on Carr but he has a long road to recover in my mind. Like a say Rozehnal was unlucky with his challenge leading to the goal, certainly not blaming him.
-
Smiths such a good player to have in your team. The way him and Butt played today it looked like we had three captains in centre mid. It was like a competition between the three.
-
First touch wasn't too shabby today, nor was the second.
-
I've not seen a better comprehensive first half performance since the bobby days when we beat spurs 4-0 when robert scored a couple of wonder goals. We just looked so comfortable and natural going forward. The second half was little disapointed but that was expected. Bolton came out with a point to prove and we'd lost a little motivation to go forward by that point. As well, the unfitness being the first game an all. Who said Sam plays boring football, more of that please.
-
Harper- 7 Good when called upon, classy finish from Anelka. Carr- 6 Decent, still not convinced. Rozehnal- 7 Was unlucky with his challege leading to theirs, apart from that was fantastic. Taylor- 7 Never put a foot wrong fought for everything/ Zoggy- 7.5 Considering he was of position he deserves credit, great free kick. Geremi- 7.5 Great influence but silly booking. Butt- 8 Colloseus. Won every tackle. Smith-8 Like Butt gave his all and retained possesion alot, good blocks too. Milner-7.5 Great assist. Viduka-7 Linked up well with Martins and Milner. Martins-8 Once confidence was flowing Martins look irripressable. Spectacular goal.

It will be entriguing. For the first time in years me and the journal have predicted the same line up. We may have hard game but Bolton will too.

One question, why west ham? I'd bet alot of money that there have been plenty of other southern clubs interested in Nobby, even if it was just enquiries. All of a sudden West ham gain an interest and he has to move south for family reasons? Bullshit is all i say in the matter.
-
Can Faye play left back too? If so he would be a good signing.
-
Now your post makes sense. Na i made the thread and it was always Faye and Diop.
-
What about him? Read the thread title. I wrote the fucker. He's just said a name, not explained anything.
-
Hopefully Sam can get a couple of seasons of him as a squad player and then he can move into our backroom staff. Would be great having someone of Nobbys culture around the club, providing he's good enough of course.
-
Shola will get his chances this season. I think he's the type of player Sam likes. Difficult to play against and awkward. What i have noticed is that he has improved considerabley in the air. He's a good back up who will alwyas gives his all but thats about it i'm afraid.
-
What would be the point? Still a useful squad member and we don't exactly need the money. Money for an old player, wages off the books, new player in. Disagree 100%, especially after some of his pre-season performances on the right. It's bollocks anyway, like, but hypothetically I think it would be madness to get shot of him 2 days before the season starts. Probably a very valuable influence to have in the changing rooms and around the training ground and I'd be interested to see what Sam can "extract" from him, because he was starting to show his age under Roeder. I was about to post the same thing regarding fitness. Nobby is the perfect person for Sam to work his magic on. If we were to get a full season of the old Nobby back because he hasn't been ran into the ground i would be very greatful.

Ryan Giggs wins that trophy, the guy hasn't changed. I'm doubtful about Keane though, hes got something strange on his face................ its a smile.
-
No chance we should let him go if anyone was interested. Not only will he have a key role on the pitch he is also an experianced head in the side. Him and Geremi are going to show us how to play football this season.
-
This will be the team: Harper Carr Taylor Rozehnal Zoggy Butt Geremi Smith Martins Ameobi Milner
-
Great to see where still going full steam ahead in the market.
-
I hope you're wrong but fear you might be right. Thing is Sam said after the Cacapa deal that he wanted three more players, and we've only signed Enrique since then. So that means he wants 2 more. A cheap squad player who can cover CB/LB would do me, and if there's any money left put it on a RB who will improve the first team and relegate Carr to back up status. This i agree with.

I can't see Baba being fit this season. He would have to put much improved performances to even be considered an able deputy.
