Let's talk about 1998 and 1999 finals. A couple of things have struck me, while looking back (I was 10 at the time). 1. Unfortunate that we were managed by Dalglish and Ruud for them games, as opposed to Keegan and Robson who were in charge either side of them. 2. Also unfortunate that we played 2 of the best sides the league has had in Viera/Adams Arsenal and then Treble winning Man United. As opposed to Chelsea, who won it in 1997 and 2000. Can anyone recall expectations before those finals? It feels looking back as Newcastle were very much the underdogs to the champions. We also made some horrific defensive errors in both games. Goalkeeping was all over the place. I mean we had Laurent Chavet playing. Can't help but feel that we are much better equipped, certainly defensively.

That will be cup final suit right?

Dan Burn likes this.

We won't give them half the space Barca are mind. They will have to work much harder for a goal.

Knowing Eddie has his notebook out.

I think it will be that but I'd play Gordon as number 8. I don't want to lose that crucial balance we have in CM, besides, how often did Willock stick to his role in the middle? Hardly ever. Let Gordon play number 8 but have license to roam. With Miggy, Tripper and Longstaff all around him, he should have plenty of cover. I really don't want Joelinton in the number 6 role.

He was hardly going to have a good game, when the team as a whole were pretty shite. Overall, I still saw signs of him being a dangerous player. He's quick, got skill, knows where the net is. What's not to like? On the hand he's young, likely to be inconsistent and will take time to find where he fits our set up. Without 3 central players, I'd like to see him into the number 10 and start behind Wilson.

It's being treated as a status thing between the haves and have nots. Amazed by the amount of mums(or dads ) on Facebook willing to brag about their kid/husband going to Wembley, to impress their facebook friends. Just wait until final weekend, when they are all posting their kids at Wembley, when two weeks ago they were probably turning the TV over during match of the day saying they were sick of the footy. Im talking about my wife here aren't I? I'm lucky enough to go but I won't look down my nose at anyone in here, who are equally as big as fans as me and who are equally as deserving of a ticket. All I will say is that I will sing my heart out for you lot. Had a couple of people in PMs offering me away tickets (because they saw how gutted I was when it looked as though I wasn't going to the final) and the generosity of people in here is unreal.

Some of these away fans lived charmed lives mind. Leave the wives and kids at home every other weekend to go on the piss with the lads to every far flung corner of the land, then when cup tickets come around talk about the great "sacrifices" they have made. Poor little cocks should be getting the George's cross. Said the other day that there is a million nuances to everyone's individual stories. There's guys on this forum who live in foreign fields who have never had the chance to build up any sort of loyalty but they live and breath Newcastle in their own way and there's season ticket holders who no longer even attend, who just buy their ticket each year as a matter of habit. It's all over the place.

After being a whiney little bitch about not getting a ticket in the ballot. Someone has just offered me a ticket for my bairn... meaning I can now go. Not only am I buzzing but I'm gobsmacked at the kindness of people. Unreal. Although the bairn will have to get in with a senior ticket but that's a gamble I'm defo willing to take.
