  1. The idea of hoofball is nonsense anyway. Both Keegans and SBR sides used to play long balls out of the defence, the difference is that they had the players cope with that system and the variety to play a different way if needs be. There's nothing wrong with the odd percentage ball up the front men, its the inability to change things round that have cost us so dear.
  2. 25m for Tiote and 15 for Krul would be about right, which leaves them at least 10m short. However, since we got 35 for Carroll, fuck knows what these two are valued at.
  3. That fucking tchoi player doesn't still get a game for them does he?

    Papiss Cissé

Ba and Cisse linked up better yesterday IMO. They seemed to have a little extra energy too. 3 goals in 5 games is an early indication of what we are dealing with here, the mans a goalscorer, forget the missed chances, the goals scored stat will always be in his favour IMO. There's a touch of a question mark over how it will affect Ba's goalscoring but that's a mere side issue. We have two good strikers, let's start feeding them.

    Danny Guthrie

In my opinion there isn't a huge difference between cabaye and guthrie. During the course of a whole season, I wudnt be suprised to see guthrie chip in with more goals and assists than cabaye. However, cabaye has only been here a year.
  7. There's some idiots on here like. Of course perch is left back man.
  8. Can I be the first to credit the medical staff. They apparently reacted very quickly. Who knows they may have saved the lads life.
  9. Hospital reporting that he is stable, get in.
  10. If he pulls through, it will be a great day, well u know what I mean. Puts life into perspective, by all accounts he's a good guy too. Come on fab!
  11. Nice to see him about the club.

    sunderland

Do they not realise the message they are sending. They might as well say, "not everything in life is in black and white but most things are". Nuggets.

    Football pet hates

I've said this one before but i'll say it again. Anywhere i sit in the stadium there will be one older fan behind me claiming that "that lad will never make a footbaaaaalller", regardless of which player it is. Pisses me right off.
  14. Absolutely, but Bramble-esque mistakes are something i hope our club never has to endure again. You are right though, i suppose it doesn't matter whether he kicks the ball into his own net or lets someone run past him, the result is still the same.
  15. I hope one of the reasons that he signed a new deal is because he has been told we will sign him a good partner for next year, i doubt our club would do that though. It would delight me to see Colo parntered with a top class centre half, who understands the game in the same way he does. We just can't rely on Taylor staying fit all season.
  16. When we have everyone fit, he's the weakest link our team. Ok he doesnt commit howlers, thank god, and his goal line clearances are pretty good but other than that he offers nothing to the team. He doesnt look for the ball, he doesnt command his position, he rarely gets forward, he can't cross, he seems to have a problem forming a partnership with anyone who plays on the right side of midfield and he's afraid of challenging for the ball. I highly suspect he would get found even more amongst a poorer team too. I don't buy the "he'd be ok for a bottom half team", for me, he'd probably look even worse. In the summer, we must sign a right back (or left and move Santon across).
  17. We are certainly after a defender, its no coincidence we have been linked to every player in france or holland. If the Cisse signing is anything to go by, which revealed a lot in terms of the way we work, then it wouldn't suprise me if we are waiting on someone specific. One of the french (based) left backs would be my guess and one of the dutch (based) centre halfs.

    Hatem Ben Arfa

That's his favourite move that like isn't it. Moving down the right, one touch to the left and then bang. What's better is that I think the defenders know its coming but can't stop it. The second they think they have worked him out, he just nutmegs them.

    Hatem Ben Arfa

I think everything has been said that needs to be said on the Ben Arfa subject. If he can't find a place in our side, then I find it quite strange. Hopefully, the tide has turned in Hatems favour.

    Alan Pardew

Remember Souness name being sang when beat Olymiakos 4-0, was it? The point I was making Is that I've seen very little pressure from the terraces. Doesn't mean to say its not out there mind.

    Alan Pardew

HTT, I don't know which fans you speak to but I've seen very little of the fans turning on Pardew. Infact they were singing his name before the sunderland game. In fact, I don't think I have heard anyone with an opinion anywhere near yours. You are not speaking for the majority IMO. I'd also like to add that it is far easier to predict failure in football than success. For example if I said 'Pardew will fail at Newcastle', the chances are that I will get that prediction right, seen as most of our managers are sacked within two years. Howere that is not a good indicator of my opinion on him. He's doing a good job, that's what most Newcastle fans I speak to think but noones going over the top.
  22. If it were Arsenal or Spurs, maybe even Man Utd I'd wish them the best of luck but I have no intention of supporting Chelsea or Liverpool in any of their European excursions. Seeing Fwank waltz about the pitch with his camp arms flayling everywhere pisses me off everytime.
