  1. Some of the papers are now saying a deal is agreed.
  2. What was being said yesterday. JJ seems to be on his way to Villa, he's put in a transfer request. Spurs trying to get Cattermole to replace him but looks like he'll be going to Sunderland. Bassong cost £8m after all the add-ons and as his registration went through after 5pm on Friday, he is eligible to play in the first game of the season against Liverpool.
  3. Tuncay rumoured to be on his way to Villa for £6m.
  4. Spurs youngsters............ Andros Townsend on loan to Leyton Orient Adam Smith on loan to Wycombe Kyle Walker on loan to Sheff Utd Jake Livermore wanted on loan by Derby and Newcastle. Derby asked first but maybe something agreed within the Bassong deal? I don't know, just wondering.
  5. So the bid's been lowered? Maybe but the previous bid may have been 4 million now 2 million if they got in Europe, 1 million spread over 1 million payments stuff like that lol My guess is any offer now will be the full amount upfront. I think you're on the right lines, Levy doesn't do deals without add-ons and clauses. I was told the offer was £5m plus add-ons that still left it short of £10m. Whether it's been increased or changed I have no idea. If and when it gets completed, details will be reported to the Stock Exchange. If it's not reported, we'll at least know that it was less than £10m. Upfront or in total? I don't know how this works. If there fee were £6m with the potential (but not guaranteed) to rise to £10.5m would that have to be reported? If it has the potential to rise to £10.5m it has to be reported to the Stock Exchange. I was told it was £5m rising to a maximum of £8m depending on a) Number of appearances and b) Qualifying for Europe. As I said before, I don't know if it has changed but from what Sky as saying, it looks as though it won't get reported to the Stock Exchange for us to find out. Nothing reported to the Stock Exchange so any talk of £12m seems like wishful thinking. I was told it was £5m maybe rising to £8m, heard nothing to say that it changed.
  6. Got Ashley's fingerprints all over it.
  7. Maybe. The other thing is Spurs have announced agreement for the transfer, everything agreed but not yet registered with the FA. If the registration goes through after your match with West Brom, that would be the suspension fully completed??
  8. I don't know any Spurs fan who didn't rate some Newcastle players. I would have been happy to see Taylor, Bassong and N'Zogbia signed for the first team squad and Ranger as one for the future. All potentially good players who have scope for improvement. Newcastle's problems hasn't been the players in the squad but the way they've been managed. Spurs have been guilty of the same and flirted with relegation in the not too distant past, the only difference is that Spurs have a manager who knows what he's doing, Newcastle haven't. BTW, Bassong is 23 not 20. A bit of both really. Look at our midfield and attacking options. The lack of movement/passing ability is absolutely appalling. Your squad isn't perfect, I'd accept that, but there's not many teams out there whose squad doesn't need tinkering with. But what you had in the squad shouldn't have made relegation an option, let alone a reality. Even when Kinnear went ill Newcastle were nowhere near the relegation zone, you were mid table iirc. I'm not saying Kinnear was the right appointment but when he went ill, someone should have been brought in, the club shouldn't have limped on. I still maintain that a new manager now will get a lot more out of the players you have than the management team currently in charge. Chris Hughton is not a manager, never has been, never will be. He is a coach, simple as that.

  10. From Sky Sports............... Alvaro Negredo would be interested in plying his trade at Roma, according to the Real Madrid forward's agent. Negredo's future at the Santiago Bernabeu is uncertain following the summer captures of Kaka, Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema. The 23-year-old has spent the last two years on loan at Almeria and it is expected he could seal another season-long deal for the new campaign. It is claimed interest from the Premier League is mounting, with Liverpool mentioned as suitors, while Roma have been linked with a move for his signature. "We have heard talk of Roma from the media," Negredo's agent, Alejandro Camano, told Radio Radio. "Right now I am in England for negotiations with four or five clubs, but I have not yet heard from anyone at the Giallorossi. "Roma are a big club and they have Francesco Totti, one of the best players in the world. It would be an honour for Negredo to play with a team of this level." He added: "Real would like to keep hold of the player and not sell him. The Spanish directors are focusing on him and their objective is to loan him out so he can return later. "His transfer market value is around £15.5million." Spurs are one of the 4 or 5, Villa are almost certainly another. The likelihood of Spurs getting him is pretty much zero so looks like we're stuck with Keane.

  12. £10m (as reported by Sunderland) increasing to a maximum of £16.5m (as reported by Spurs to the Stock Exchange). I wouldn't get your hopes up about add-ons, they'll win f*** all Apparently only £1.5m is for getting in Europe, the rest is payable on appearances. That's pretty normal when we're selling. When we're buying, it's the opposite. Bonuses for winning the PL, qualifying for CL, qualifying for Europe, winning a Cup.......................... it's a rare occurence to make extra payments. Doesn't say a lot about our record of success though.
  13. FWIW I've just been told the medical hasn't been done yet. Maybe Sky have jumped the gun.
  14. £10m (as reported by Sunderland) increasing to a maximum of £16.5m (as reported by Spurs to the Stock Exchange).

  16. Nope. Just chose to ignore it.
  17. The idea was also being bandied about with Le Tissier being Chairman of Soutampton, except that the Pinnacle Group weren't successful with their takeover bid. I think the idea has a lot of merit. Newcastle, like Sunderland when Quinn was appointed, need to be pulled together to be singing from the same hymnsheet. I can't think of anyone better than Shearer. The other point is what happens if Shearer is appointed as manager and fails dramatically? Sack an iconic figure? Spurs had to do it with Hoddle and sacking a legend caused more problems and disruption than the sacking of a run of the mill manager. Surely better to have Shearer always there to pull the club together than appointing him as manager and keeping your fingers crossed it works out for him.
  18. So he's ditched Bent and know fancies Beevers??? Maybe he wants Beevers as backup to Bassong? If Bassong is signed, it won't be until after the West Brom game completing Bassong's suspension.
  19. Spurs bid £2m for Wednesday's Mark Beevers http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-1204597/Spurs-boss-Harry-Redknapp-gets-teenage-kicks-2m-bid-Sheffield-Wednesday-defender-Mark-Beevers.html?ITO=1490 The Mail may have lifted that from info going around the forums.
  20. Spurs seem to be possibly getting a lot more for Bent than I expected..................... Bent transfer - Stock Exchange Announcement The following statement has been released to the Stock Exchange: 5 August 2009 Tottenham Hotspur plc Player Transfer Tottenham Hotspur plc announces that agreement has been reached for the transfer of the player registration of Darren Bent to Sunderland AFC for a total consideration of up to £16.5 million. http://www.tottenhamhotspur.com/news/articles/benttransferstockexchangeannouncement050809.html
  21. Agreed. But the only team who are spending is Man City, if they can A) get some bodies in to supplement the defence and B) Hughes can get them gelled together quickly, I wouldn't rule City out of contention just yet. It'll be asking a lot to go well for them and overall I still think it might be Chelsea's year but, as you say, none of the Big 4 seem to be getting the players in to replace the ones that are going out.
  22. It's completely lost it's senses. Spurs have been keen on a Toulouse pair for some time, one fell by the wayside a couple of weeks ago and Moussa Sissoko looks as though he will go the same way, offered €14m, Toulouse want €30m................ http://www.imscouting.com/global_news_item.aspx?id=2750
  23. I don't think we'll buy Samba and definitely not at £10m. Bassong is still my favourite to move to WHL
