  1. Bale's still injured, could still be a while before he's fit the last I heard. Ipswich want Gio back, Spurs weren't keen for him to go back. That may mean something, maybe not.
  2. It's been reported down here that Sunderland defaulted on the instalments while they were getting themselves sorted out with Ellis Short and Chimbo returned to Spurs, effectively having been repo'd .
  3. According to L'Equipe Spurs have made an offer for Le Havre's Kevin Anin who has been on trial. There's an Honduran CB Osman Chavez also on trial who apparently has done well.
  4. Not a transfer but footballing news. Spurs have reported to the Stock Exchange that they have issued 30m new shares for costs relating to Planning Permission to be submitted later this year for the new 58000 seater stadium. 27.8m of the shares gone to Enic, effectively meaning that Joe Lewis is putting up the bulk of the extra money going into the club. http://www.londonstockexchange.com/exchange/prices-and-news/news/market-news/market-news-detail.html?announcementId=10161875 Tottenham Hotspur (AIM: TTNM.L), announces a placing (the "Placing") of 30 million new ordinary shares of 5p each (the "New Shares"). The New Shares have been placed for cash by Seymour Pierce Limited with new and existing shareholders ("the Placees") at 50p per share and have raised £15 million before expenses. The new funds represent the first stage of capital which is required for the development of the Company's proposed new stadium development, specifically the submission of a full planning proposal later this year. During the past two years the Company has engaged a full time team of experts and consultants to progress the development of the proposed new stadium. The Company is making solid progress with regard to submitting a full planning application which it expects to submit later this year.
  5. Glad to put your mind at ease.............. http://www.thisisnottscounty.co.uk/news/EXCLUSIVE-Sol-Campbell-talks-Notts-County/article-1273344-detail/article.html EXCLUSIVE: Sol Campbell in talks with Notts County Friday, August 21, 2009, 07:45 ENGLAND international Sol Campbell was last night in Nottingham locked in talks about a move to League Two Notts County. The former Tottenham, Arsenal and Portsmouth central defender met with director of football Sven Goran-Eriksson and executive chairman Peter Trembling at Hart's restaurant, in Standard Hill, in the city centre. He arrived at the hotel about at 7.15pm before the Post captured him walking across to the restaurant, with Eriksson yards behind. Trembling arrived minutes later before the group headed into a private meeting in the restaurant to discuss a deal. Campbell, a free agent, still harbours hopes of making England's World Cup squad for South Africa next year. That could prove the huge sticking point in any deal being struck, with other clubs in the Premiership, Championship and abroad chasing the signature of the star defender. But the 34-year-old has proved his interest in a move to League Two by travelling up to Nottingham for talks and to hear the ambitious vision of new Magpies owners Munto Finance. Campbell played for England under Eriksson during his whole reign as international manager and they formed a close relationship. And Eriksson is hopeful of pulling off the biggest deal for a player in the history of the world's oldest football league club by landing Campbell. But the defender wants time to think over what is likely to be the final move of his successful career. A Notts County spokesman declined to comment last night.
  6. Don't know how true it is but.................. http://www.nottscounty-mad.co.uk/news/loadnews.asp?cid=TMNW&id=459053 Ex-England defender set to join? It has today been confirmed that Notts County are in talks with former Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, Portsmouth and England defender Sulzeer Campbell about a move to Meadow Lane. Campbell met with Sven Goran Eriksson and Peter Trembling last night for dinner and over the past couple of days the odds on Campbell joining the Magpies have tumbled to 6/4 on. Campbell has also been seen numerous times at Meadow Lane today, with fans milling around Meadow Lane due to the official opening of the new club shop and unveiling of the shirt.
  7. The comment I think Sports Direct are worse than the guy who wanted it put on the back of his shirt. made by the Chairman of the Hillsborough Family Support Group is simply ridiculous. I reckon the majority of the people working in the shops wouldn't have a clue as the meaning of the message.
  8. "save my club Soloman!" Who's Soloman? His name is Sulzeer.
  9. But players with potential still need experienced players around them to learn from. Naybet for 2 years taught Ledley King a massive amount. As much as I detest the bloke, Taylor could learn just as much with that quality of defender alongside him.

  11. I should like to apologise to my Club and the supporters for my actions which led to my car accident last night and my subsequent charge. It was wholly unacceptable and I fully appreciate that as a professional footballer I have a duty to behave in a reputable and responsible manner. I am thankful that nobody was injured in the accident. This has been a wake-up call for me both personally and professionally. http://www.tottenhamhotspur.com/news/articles/davidbentleystatement130809.html Grade A idiot.
  12. Bassong made his international debut for Cameroon tonight against Austria. Played LB, looked solid and composed all night. Cameroon won 2-0 in Vienna, Paul Scharner missed a penalty and both goals were scored by Pierre Webo
  13. I think we will go up if we sign a decent striker but we aren't going to get one of the calibre we need on loan, so I think this will be Ashley's major f*** up this season and it will cost him millions. I'm not convinced that many, if any, loan signings will really give you the quality you need irrespective of the position. I don't know who Newcastle have got coming through the Academy and reserves (other than those I've seen in international matches), but there seem to be a few with good potential. But will signing loan players be any better than throwing your youngsters in at the deep end? I'm not convinced. It's been reported that Newcastle might want to make a couple of loan signings from Spurs. Bostock, Rose and Parrett could be contenders, but Bostock apart, they are still pretty raw, I don't think they would necessarily do much for the squad other than beef up the numbers. More experienced players, like Chimbonda for example, we're looking to sell, not loan. I just get the feeling that Ashley has left the 'loan players option' too long and the better ones have already found a temporary home. As I don't believe for one second that we will be signing any new striker, on loan or otherwise, I think the only chance we have of scoring enough goals to stay in the promotion race is if Nile Ranger gets games and makes an immediate impact. There is also Xisco who is an unknown quantity assuming he gets considered, but if we are expecting Carroll and Ameobi to score us the goals I'm pretty sure we will fail. None of those I mentioned are strikers, Bostock (attacking MF), Dean Parrett (box to box MF), Danny Rose (LM) though I guess Bostock could play as a 2nd striker if needs be. Those 3, generally speaking, provide the ammunition for the strikers. Dervite was out on loan at Southend for the tail end of last season and did well by all accounts but it's worlds apart from Southend in League 1 to Newcastle in the Championship where every match will be the opposition's Cup Final. I think he will make the grade eventually after his terrible knee injury but there are plenty on the forums who don't think he will. Bloke I work with is a Southend fan and he literally wanks over Dervite. I mentioned we might get him in on loan and he responded by saying we'd be a good outside bet to win the World Cup. I don't doubt he played well for them but Championship football is a big step up from playing for Southend. Dervite was out for nearly 18 months before joining Southend. His knee was literally rebuilt, there were genuine concerns for the first couple of days when amputation was discussed, even if as a last resort, it really was that serious. Maybe the biggest surprise is that he has got himself back into contention again.

I think he will make the grade eventually after his terrible knee injury but there are plenty on the forums who don't think he will. As for Sam Cox, i'd say he's nowhere near being ready for you, played a couple of times in the reserves last year from the bench and struggled in the step up in class, all of his other games last season were for the Academy. He could well make it in time, but not this season imo. I think the best options for Newcastle would be Bostock (if he's not regularly involved from the bench at Spurs), Dean Parrett (who is regularly performing well) and Danny Rose (who personally I think is well overrated whenever I've seen him). Newcastle were belatedly in for Livermore who has now gone to Derby, Newcastle missed a trick there, I think he'd do a solid job in the Championship this season, and currently, I would say that was it. Maybe Ian W has the right idea, throwing in the youngsters and reserves, they won't improve by watching loanees from other clubs getting game time and experience.

  16. Very short odds, I come here every day. Tgarve asked a question, I've tried to provide an answer. I've answered your question as well
  17. Spurs announced last Friday that agreement had been reached for Bassong's transfer. The FA's deadline to get him registered prior to Newcastle's game was 5pm Friday. He wasn't registered until after that time so technically he was still Newcastle's player when Newcastle played West Brom. As he was still a Newcastle player for the West Brom game, he couldn't play because he was still suspended. He never played, the second match suspension was satisfied and so he is eligible to play against Liverpool next Sunday. The FA don't now list him as being suspended. http://www.thefa.com/TheFA/Disciplinary/SuspensionLists.aspx
  18. Jon Obika to Yeovil on loan for 3 months, that's 3 Spurs youngsters there now. That's 12 now out on loan, 8 from the Academy, not like Arsenal's system, but a lot better than we've done in the past. Inglethorpe must be doing something right.
  19. SSN are saying scumball to Notts County on £90k pw. Football gone mad.
  20. i wonder if he'd have cited his contract had he been s*** and we wanted to sack him because of it. my hatred for many footballers is building. "i want everything in my favour and i don't give a f*** what s*** it causes for others" seem very much the attitude. If it's good enough for Owen why not lesser mortals? doesn't matter who it is, it's twattish. when did owen say he wanted to leave or agitated for a move when under contract ? Didn't Sven Goran quote him in a Sunday paper? Was Owen being paid 5k a week? Has he taken a pay cut to play for someone else? Did Bassong send a brochure to other clubs while still under contract to Newcastle Utd? Lots of interesting comparisons if you want to draw them. owens brochure was in the last 6 months of his contract when he can do stuff like that. don't really see what the other things have to do with it. has he been rubbish would he have said "fair do's i've been cack, rip up my contract it's what i deserve" Well he was rubbish and I didn't see him offer to rip up his contract which was worth quite a lot IIRC. thats the point. if the contract is good enough to stand when they are s***, they should respect it to cut the other way. That only happens with players on the way down though. Not players on the way up. it can happen as much with supposed players on the way up if they don't progress. do you think they think half way through their contracts "i'm not good enough...i'll leave to find my true level and take a pay cut along with it" or do you think to get at least some of the wage we give them a free or subsidise their wgae at the new club. Well, six months ago I suppose Darren Bent would have preferred to sign for Newcastle rather than Sunderland. Everything's subjective. and while he was under contract to spuds i'd expect hiom to respect the contract in the same way the club has to. if he wants away he knows the correct,legitimate,upfront,non-twattish procedure. A football agent who goes on a Spurs forum said that when a player goes injured in pre-season, it's 33% likely he's injured, 33% likely the club have pulled him out due to an impending transfer and the rest the player has pulled himself out to make sure he doesn't get injured which might scupper a move. It was widely reported at the time that Berbatov pulled out of a couple of matches, Keane was reported doing the same before going to Liverpool. I'm not saying it's the right thing to do but it seems to be far from being a rare occurence.
  21. Sissoko is awesome. Still a lot of a money for 19 year old but even then Toulouse have been saying they want €30m. No CL, no European competition at all, no French manager, Spurs are hardly ticking the boxes for him.
  22. Spurs have offered £14m for Moussa Sissoko from Toulouse and also made a bid for Jonjo Shelvey from Charlton. Not confident about getting either.
  23. May well be going back to Spain. Seriously talented player, Redknapp reckons he could be world class if he turned up for training on time now and again in the mornings and could stay out of the clubs at night. Newcastle did want Jake Livermore ( I said that a few days ago), but he's now gone to Derby. Spurs have had a lot of enquiries about Bostock and said nothing doing until a week before the end of the window to give time to assess whether he could have an impact in the first team from the bench. He'd be one i'd guess.
  24. Livermore joins Derby on loan.
