  1. For those that are unable to go (like myself), there's always the opportunity to make a donation at: http://www.justgiving.com/thesirbobbyrobsonfoundation/?pid=1102637&dtpn=3 I made a donation when the Foundation was set up and I'll be making another before the match. No better cause. No better living British manager. One of Nature's gentlemen.
  2. Normally debut them in the home friendly but could be saving it for the Wembley Cup I suppose. Could also be that they're too embarrassed about it to show it in public. Bloody horrible effort.
  3. I agreed with your first point and disagreed with the second a month ago and realistically still think the same now. However, I think Spurs are in with as good a chance as any club right now and certainly more than a month ago. I'm not ruling the idea out just yet. MON is very keen to get Bentley though I cant fathom out why.
  4. That's the figure one of Kemsley's mates came out with on a Spurs forum. No idea if that is a figure given with any knowledge or just plucked out of the air though.
  5. I know they wern't L1 at the time, but how much did Arsenal pay Southampton for Walcott, how much did Spuds pay for Bale? £6m. Initial £5m then a further £1m to buy out the add ons when Southampton got hard up. Following the news that Spurs are talking to Vieira, it seems like Tony Adams could be our new defensive coach very soon. Only a matter of time before we change to red shirts......................
  6. Chris Gunter going on loan to Forest with an option to buy. Subject to personal terms, Adel Tarrabt going to Malaga with an option to buy. Spurs in talks with Kyle Walker.
  7. Maybe some footballers will begin to realise they can't keep on going around thinking they are immune to the real world. http://www.people.co.uk/news/tm_headline=six-premier-league-stars-given-hiv-alert-by-same-girl%26method=full%26objectid=21513252%26siteid=93463-name_page.html SIX PREMIER LEAGUE STARS GIVEN HIV ALERT BY SAME GIRL Six soccer stars were last night facing an agonising wait for the results of HIV tests. The shocked Premier League players have all slept with the same female soccer groupie. They had tests for HIV - the virus that causes AIDS - after the girl told them she had found out she was infected. She has no idea whether she contracted the disease before or after she slept with them all. The stars, who play for three different clubs, cannot be named for legal reasons. But a source said: "All of them are beside themselves with worry. They are all only too aware of the scandal it will cause. "None of them have let their families know yet because they don't want to worry them. "It's like a ticking timebomb for them all and would almost certainly end their careers if they have contracted it." The AIDS scare is the biggest sex scandal to hit the Premier League since the "roasting" rape allegations six years ago. The infected girl met the stars through her ex-boyfriend who moves in footballing circles. When she and the boyfriend split up she slept with the players over several months, many of them more than once. It is believed she got back together with her boyfriend and then discovered he was HIV positive. The girl had a test and was devastated last month to discover she was also HIV positive. The girl then immediately told all her sexual partners including the six players. Our source added: "The woman had no idea she was infected while she was sleeping with these guys. "She now has to deal with the reality she may have infected other people. She is absolutely distraught, virtually suicidal." HIV attacks the body's immune system but can be kept under control with drugs.
  8. Shame he's got the mobility of a tortoise as if he did have any speed about him, he could have developed into top top class MF.
  9. I'm not going to argue with you about that. Can't readily think of a worse one apart from Hull in the early 90's.
  10. Looking like Benitez will be copping an extra £3m loss. Keane was bought back for £12m + an extra £3m after 50 appearances. Seems like RK is now close to signing for Sunderland. Agreed
  11. A fella on a Spurs forum about 3 weeks ago said Wolves were being looked at by a foreign consortium, didn't say Middle East, just foreign. Might be them, might not. It's not Spurs though.
  12. You're more optimistic than me. I have City, Villa and Everton to be certainties to be above Spurs. 8th place at best.
  13. Sneijder is apparently one of the 9 that Real will let go. He's also another one that wouldn't be interested in a move to WHL.
  14. Young is never going to go to Spurs, for two reasons. Firstly - why? What would be the point? Secondly - you couldn't afford him. Agree totally with the first reason, disagree with the second, there is money for the right signings. It's widely reported that AY hasn't settled in the area and his family are Spurs ST holders but that's no reason to expect him to sign. I agree with you, Young is never going to go to Spurs. Not having a go at you, MJ, but there are two of the most tiresome, continually trotted out London club cliches of the transfer market there. Firstly the "widely reported he's not settled in the area" / "wants to return to London" line (despite being from, err, Stevenage). Widely reported where? On every football forum on the internet, that's a phrase that gets trotted out when there is a rumour of a London club after a non London club player. I've not seen it yet in relation to the NRC / Spurs link, but I bet you what you like we hear it in the next few days. Secondly, the boyhood Spurs / boyhood Arsenal fan line. Spurs and Arsenal must be the two greatest supported clubs in the world, given the number of families of footballers they have supporting them. We heard that story when we signed Curtis Davies (boyhood Spurs fan) and he didnt go there, and we heard the same when we signed Young (didn't go there). On the price of Young, if MON thought Barry was worth 20m when he had two years left on his contract, how much do you think he'd rate Young (signed four year contract 6 months ago) at? I agree they're popular comments to get a player's move getting the fans approval but in Young's case it is true. It's also true that Spurs did try to sign him when he went to Villa, Spurs stopped at £7.5m, Villa didn't and time has proved that Villa were right. I think Redknapp was trying to engineer a deal with Bentley and Hudd going to Villa but even if the clubs agreed I very much doubt that Young would. As I said before, if he moves anywhere, if he did move, I think it would be to Chelsea. Spurs seem to get linked with players most fans would accept are beyond us and as such WWHWTMTS (Why would he want to move to Spurs?) has become a very common post. It applies to to Young, the Real Madrid 4, Bojan and a few others that are being rumoured. Even if a deal can be agreed with the club, the players won't agree and you can't force to him to move. BYW, I think Barry with 2 years and Young with 4 are comparable, £20m apiece.
  15. Young is never going to go to Spurs, for two reasons. Firstly - why? What would be the point? Secondly - you couldn't afford him. 16. I don't know, I don't go there.
  17. Owen lunching with Al Fayed before Ascot today. Maybe worth a punt, Owen hasn't got a lot of options available to him.
  18. Bentley's best made who posts on GG says Bentley definitely isn't talking to Villa at the present time but may do in the future. KD could well know more about it.
  19. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-1193549/Levy-takes-lead-Spurs-bid-30m-Heinze-Huntelaar-Robben-Real.html Levy takes lead as Spurs bid for £30m Heinze, Huntelaar and Robben from Real By NEIL ASHTON Last updated at 2:13 AM on 17th June 2009 Tottenham chief Daniel Levy has been in talks with Real Madrid over the potential signings of Klaas-Jan Huntelaar, Arjen Robben and Gabriel Heinze for a combined £30million. Sportsmail can reveal that the White Hart Lane chairman flew to Spain on Monday with agent Dennis Roach and finance director Matthew Collecott to meet Real president Florentino Perez. No agreement has yet been reached but talks continue. Real have circulated a list of nine players who are available for transfer, but Spurs are concerned by the high salaries demanded by their targets. They have offered to take the trio on loan next season, but Real are determined to hold out for fees after telling the players their careers at the club are over. Ruud van Nistelrooy was originally on Spurs boss Harry Redknapp’s radar, but it is understood the striker’s injury record, along with his £100,000-a-week salary, will prohibit a move. Instead, they have turned their attention to finding a left back although Heinze, 31, also has a problem with his left knee. The former Manchester United defender has the experience Redknapp wants, but his salary could be a sticking point. While former Chelsea winger Robben, 25, is reluctantly accepting his career at Real is over after the acquisition of Cristiano Ronaldo and Kaka this summer, he only wants to go to a Champions League club. Striker Huntelaar, also 25, has the predatory instincts Redknapp demands, but the Tottenham boss must sell first. Roman Pavlyuchenko’s Spurs career is over after just one season while Darren Bent can leave if his £10m valuation is met. Redknapp will also consider letting some youngsters go on loan next season, among them midfielders John Bostock and Dean Parrett. Pretty much as I said before. Spurs are also talking to Arda Turan's agent about the player making the move, seems to be more likely than Ashley Young who prefers to go to Chelsea. Didier Zokora 99% certain to be on his way to Sevilla.
  20. Why would you bid for Huntelaar and RVN? You telling porkies again? Don't tell porkies! Redknapp doesn't rate Bent or Pav and Keane's thrown more strops since coming back. With Bent and Keane strongly linked with Sunderland and Pav wanted by Roma and Stuttgart, new strikers would be needed if they were all sold. ITK's are also saying that we are seriously interested in Standard Liege's Dieumerci Mbokani. Before that I'd never heard of him. They would take us back to 4 strikers if those 3 were sold. Personally, I don't think 3 will be sold so there wouldn't be any need to buy 3 either.
  21. Marca are saying that Real have received bids from Spurs for Heinze, Huntelaar, RVN and Robben which have been accepted by the club. Spurs ITK's have been saying those players were on the radar for the best part of a month. However, Heinze wants to fight for a starting place and the other 3 all have other offers to consider. My guess is that Spurs won't get any of them.
  22. The Times are saying that Liverpool have had an £18.5m bid accepted for Glen Johnson. Benitez is an absolute muppet, he didn't want to pay that much for Barry. And Johnson isn't a great defender either!
  23. Stephen Kelly and Jamie O'Hara talking to Fulham. Fee for JOH apparently agreed at £4m. Both players full of honest endeavour but only limited skill.
  24. Good news for a Sunderland fan I suppose............. if it were true. Are goal.com really suggesting that Ashley wants to install Shearer as manager, but if he can't, his fallback option is Clipboard Chris?? Don't believe it.
