One of the strangest games I’ve ever been to. Forest barely completed a pass in the first 20 mins but were 1-0 up through our own incompetence. Played really well for 15 mins and scored four, which should have set up a carnival second half. Instead we just couldn’t keep the ball and got really panicky. Burn in particular seemed to be completely off his tits, I don’t know if the wind was a factor but he was all over the place. Willock was good for an hour then his race was clearly run. Bruno was fairly erratic all day, Miley just kept it simple and took his goal well. Sels is still shite, Wilson looked like he had played 90 when he came on and Murphy barely got anything right all game but at least he scored I suppose. Glad to have won but not sure what we can take forward from this performance, just a mad day. Was sat up next to the away fans and one probably 20 nothing year old was giving it the bigun until we scored, he left before half time and didn’t come back.

Callum Wilson: offered 'incentive-based' contract extension (Ornstein)
Ashley17 replied to Strawberry's topic in Football
In an ideal world we wouldn't need to keep him but with the financial restrictions it probably makes sense. Keep him and he and Osula can share backup duties - we will probably have some European games to contend with next season. If he leaves, you probably need to sign somebody else to be backup. As we know, that costs money and probably stops us strengthening elsewhere. Osula is getting there but he's still very raw. Obviously the enormous gamble is his fitness but if you can have him available for 15-20 games (across all competitions) it's still cheaper than having to buy somebody else. -
We were poor but Bruno was banned for most of those games and we were massively reliant on him. That said losing here wouldn't be a surprise regardless of the upcoming fixtures.

It’s worth pointing out that not many teams have the fitness Bournemouth do or even the personnel to do what they did to us today. They played very well up here last season too and would have won if they had taken more of their chances, bearing in mind we got an iffy penalty and a Matt Ritchie fortunate scrappy equaliser. It’s not a good match up for us and hopefully we will put it right in future.

Bournemouth were excellent and we were poor as a result. They are an awful team to be behind against, an absolute gang of dogs in the middle and loads of athleticism everywhere. Had our number in all areas really, it was a bit like we had been Space Jammed, every pass was difficult for us, everybody’s second touch was a tackle. Call it whatever you want, the best team won today and we need to learn from it.

Felt a bit like a testimonial in the second half, the corner did a great job of singing about basically every player to have played for us. Dubravka - Turns out he still can’t dive low to his right. Would be daft to get rid whilst Pope is out. Trippier - Rusty? Complacent? To be fair it’s difficult when paired with an idiot. Schar - Fine, no fuss. Kelly - Alright, lost a few in the air Targett - Kept going, 2 assists! Just an average left back who would be a good squad player if fit. Miley - Best player on the pitch. Great hit. Hopefully we are able to involve him more but competition for places in that position is very strong. Longstaff - Awful in games like this. Breaking down a packed defence needs quick play and incisiveness and he sadly lacks this. Miley should get his minutes. Joelinton/Bruno - Aye. Did a job. Barnes - Pretty poor. If he’s not cutting inside and shooting he’s not doing much. Almiron - He’s done. Just has nothing to offer. Trippier and Schar were annoyed by him cutting back in rather than taking on his man. Osula - Chaos! Something to work with. Already looks better than he did a few months ago. Sanusi - Probably tried too hard, not a lot came off for him. Gordon - Didn’t have to do much other than slot a penalty

He got a game less for offering to pay for the replacement glasses. It’s ridiculous

If you have Sky the red button channel is like 971 or something

Bromley at the weekend, will probably be time for Abe's Odyssey to play.

In recent weeks I've become quite pleased Lineker is leaving Match of the Day. He's a proper old man yelling at cloud type these days, which is odd because he's good craic alongside Shearer and Richards on the podcast.
-
He's barely had to make a save of note during this run in the team but his distribution has been massive in helping us retain control in games. Trafford is good with his feet but I seem to remember him being a bit of a disaster on set pieces as he's not the biggest build.

Highland Geordie (another "ITK") tweeted it hours ago. Loan with an obligation to buy.

We'll see. My bet would be the ill players are on the teamsheet tomorrow with the exception of the keeper who it seems might have been close to getting a go anyway.
-
Is he actually good again or have we just played a load of shite? Good with his feet but barely tested in 4 games now. Massively helped by the new "Tonali system" and us not conceding 20 shots a game like we did in his last run in the team. Mind you, him keeping possession for us is also a big help.

Guess Kelly will know Solanke from Bournemouth? Not sure how much that will help. With Spurs it's not that they can't defend they just don't even try to half the time, obviously they are missing centre halves now but they seem to just play 5 up front and our new "controlled" style will need to be very good here. I wonder if they've looked at playing Tino at centre back? Schar has been on 4 yellows for ages and Krafth has been buggered for a fair while now so they must have discussed backup plans. Eddie likes a right foot/left foot combination in there, though it would be a bit of a kick in the dick for Kelly.

Yeah I guess to the casual fan it's probably quite enticing but it's all very cyclical. If you win three games in a row you're a playoff contender.

I used to find the Championship quite fun to watch but I don't know what it is this season, it just feels crap. Maybe I'm just watching bad games, usually Sky's Friday night pick but most games seem to be played out in half empty stadiums with minimal quality on display. Leeds should piss it but the second automatic promotion spot is up for grabs. Sheff Utd don't seem to have the squad for it but are very good when most are available. Burnley are dull. Boro are inconsistent. Norwich have took a punt on a Danish gaffer and every game is full of goals. WBA draw nearly every week and that was enough for Valencia to poach Corberan. The mackems would have to be spectacularly shit in the second half of the season to not make the playoffs because, as has been pointed out, there's no consistency whatsoever and the odds of 2 or 3 teams putting the results together to push them down the table seem slim to none. Teams who were incredibly shit inevitably sack their manager and whoever comes in does slightly better, see Cardiff, Hull, currently Oxford - all of which means about 18 teams can all beat each other, plus a couple of really shit teams and a couple of really good teams.

He is with the squad, whatever that means

I happened to be in Hong Kong today so was able to watch. We are absolutely infuriating, some of our top players just seem confused and indecisive. We do reasonably well until we get about 30 yards from goal and then it’s just a mess. Runs in behind are ignored or seen too late, we never just have a shot, we desperately try to get to the byline for there to be at best 2 players in the middle. All of that said I thought our game management in the last 10 minutes was very good for once. The ball was at their end for most of it and I thought we had seen Palace off after their decent spell after our goal. Obviously I was wrong. It’s all a mess and quite amateurish at the moment. No idea what our best 11 is and I don’t think Howe knows either. We don’t really press any more for some awful reason but when we did it usually caused Palace to give it away. One of our better performances this season was the Chelsea cup game where we did a lot of that, helped by them of course, but that’s what we should be aiming for.

The issue isn’t necessarily two CL clubs drawing each other. It would be if a Europa League team drew a CL team as they are scheduled on opposite weeks this season. So yes, you could ask UEFA to do us a solid and move a Europa game for example but I imagine there would be rights issues and they aren’t going to do it for the fucking Carabao Cup.

Worked hard and pressed well. Thought they were worse for him going off but didn’t really have an impact going forward
