Does The statement said: "NUFC wished, at all times, to keep any dispute that it had with Kevin Keegan private.. "It is therefore disappointing that information has reached the media through unnamed sources and a briefing has been given by the League Managers Association that could give rise to a misleading impression amongst the club's fans"Newcastle United have no desire to engage in a war of words, but inaccurate reporting of factual matters and inaccurate allegations have to be corrected. "It is a fact that Kevin Keegan, on appointment on January 16, 2008, agreed to report to a director of football and to the board. "It is a fact that Kevin Keegan worked within that structure from January 16, 2008 until his resignation. "It is a fact that Kevin Keegan, as manager, had specific duties in that he was responsible for the training, coaching, selection and motivation of the team. "It is a fact that Kevin Keegan was allowed to manage his specific duties without any interference from any board member. "It is a fact that Kevin Keegan agreed only to deal with the media in relation to club matters relating to the team and not to communicate with the media in relation to the acquisition or disposal of players. "It is a fact that NUFC is a business and operates, like all businesses, with financial constraints. "It is a fact that NUFC's financial constraints inform its transfer dealings. "The board of NUFC have responsibility to ensure that the club is able to meet its commitments, which include the wages and the transfer fees for players. "The structure at NUFC is clear, and has been clear from January 16, 2008." this statement worry antone n this board? I for one am deeply concerned about it for a number of reasons. Firstly we are all (directors and fans) in a state of flux, now is the time to put differences to one side and all pull together. In all difficulties in businesses between two sides there is an element of truth in both sides of the arguement. The key issue is not who was correct, but how we are all going move forward from here? The directors and many of the fans (Who are stakeholders in this business - and extremely important ones at that) need to work together. I personally feel that this statement is aimed at being devisive rather than cohesive. As a stakeholder in a business and a MD of my own I to aliemnated my customer base seems rather strange, especially as football fans are rather more passionate about the business than other market areas. The directors and the publiucity officers need to be workiung over time to put at least some positive spin on this for EVERYONES sake. Secondly the FACTS stated sound and read like some petulant school boy who has misread an exam question and is finding blame with somene else. This methodology will do nothing to engender unity within the club. We are called Newcastle United not for nothing. Newcastle may or may not be a big club, but one thing is certain we do hold a unique position in the local community where the club is supported by so many (ages, sexes etc). Will the attitude of these directors set us back? I think so. Finally we are all fans of the club, and most of us have been for all our lives (win, lose or draw) and will be hopefully for long into the future. If we want to protest can we do so in a manner that is both original, hardhitting, but not detrimental to the club. What about 10 minutes silence at the start of the match for the loss of our manager (regardless of what happens on the pitch) followed by the passion that was there for JKeegans first ever game as our manager (if you can remember this)
-
I remember a few years ago a German team protesting against smething (and am totally unsure what), but they announced before the game that they would come to the game and turn their backs on the match and stand in silence for 13 minutes (I am sure that this had some relevance), and then turn around and sing. If say this was for 8 minutes (1 minute of Keegans tenure) it would have a very profound effect, and those who would not wish to boycott could still be involved. We would all be UNITED.
-
Like many of you I too have anumber of players that have played for the toon that I despise for various reasons. John Barnes - utter w**k stated when signing that we could move forward by playing the ball backwards. Talentless and uninspirational. Ian Rush - maangers pal and buddy played wide as much threat on goal as I have. Mark Stimson - so one dimensional is was untrue - could only play one ball - long down the wing - on reflection I did enjoy abusing him at games so this is a two edged sword. Carr - hated him at spurs, so talentless here I know Sourness never played for us, but I to have him as our manager was the delight of all opposition fans Of our current crop Smudge Smith Leeds Fan - says it all - utter violent scum and Mark Viduka lethargic to a tee. There are others, but most only played the odd game here or there - never keen on Bowyer (same reason as Smith - but at least he did put in the effort)
-
I like many others here hate spurs with a vengence, being an anti-fan (ie supporting any team that plays against them). This goes back a long time. I think that it started when waddle left and was reinforced when gazza left (and they and their manager claimed they had truned gazza into a world class player overnight - when he had almsot single-handedly kept us in Div 1 the previious season - this still rankles me). Then a cup match I attended in the mid 80s, when they oversold tickets to us, forcing many into overcrowded paddocks. I remeber a young lad infront of me being crushed. Many kids were passed over the heads of us towards the pitch, and some climbed on to the picth to try to get in an empty paddock next to us. All the time coins and bottles were raining onto us from these scum fans. Next day all the papers were full of stories of geordies rioting - nothing could be further from the truth. And we lost.
-
aldershot town are making enquiries How exactly would this work? The shots have a young, fast, team who play for each other. Their vision and passing this season has been incredible. Oh yes and they are successful. Gary Waddock is a young manager who likes to keep the ball on the deck. Why would he want to get players who have no ability? I suggest that you ocassionally go and watch lower league football
-
I cannot believe the small minded people who castigate others for supporting their team because they do not come from the hinterland of the club. Like it or not Premier League football is a global enterprise and as such it is imperative that the ton attract and hold on to as many 'foreign/southern' fans as possible. These wil only add to the revenue of the club and help build for success. Expansion is our answer and we should welcome all new fans with open arms as they help provide a financial base for the club. The arguement of only supporting your local club is facile in that many people today are locationally mobile, as the worlds job markets have opened up. Once you are a supporter you remain that way through thick and thin (usually very thin). When we move do we stop supporting our team and support the local team instead? I moved to the toon at the age of eight (I still support passionately my first ever team - Aldershot), but twenty years of living in the North East makes it impossible to not support the toon too with a passion. And by the way I have also lived in Zambia where I was a season ticket holder of Power Dynamoes, and was also had a box in Lima to watch the mighty La U (Universatario). It is possible to support other teams and also live outside the region and support the toon.

Not sure what I think about this one the heart says we will roll them over, but the teamwork is just not there at the moment. it loks like we are having probs with personel with the Zog blowin a fuse and Roz having a tantrum and storming off. Still little Mickey has been so por recently, so surely with the England team being wittled dwn, he will have to have a good game. But where are the chances coming from. I hope that Emre, Barton and Butt are the core of the midfield with Mickey up front with the unpredictable amoebi or give lua lua a run out
-
Oh I nearly forgot home of La U Monumental stadium in Lima
-
La Bombonera (home of Boca Juniors) for the unbelievable atmosphere and Aldershots Recreation Ground - just like stadiums were in th 70's
-
No players in (for the first Team) and Roz out. Nice to see a bit of ambition. I can see where he is coming from, an international who needs games to play in Euro 2008. Being a central midfielder in a failing and losing team will not ensure he keeps his place. We have only lost out, as there are no central defenders other than Faye better than him at the club. Scapegoat foreigner as always. I liked the comparison earlier with G. Pallister crucified in his first season and became a stalwart and legend. Oh, for a little bit of patience rather than knee jerk reactions. No doubt he will now go on and have a great Euro 2008. I cannot understand the preoccupation with the defenders as scapegoats, surely as so many fail here the reasons for this could be outside their ability (anyone thought of the poor quality of defensive coaching), especially as so many of the errors made by our back 4 re positioning seem so basic. I also think that the problem lies in our persistent manner of hoofing the ball to our little forwards who are unable to hold the ball up, and our midfield who are always going to ground leaving the defense uncovered. These are all basic footballing errors that would be evident in a sunday league team coached by the local retard.

Just read this in the gruniad, still it makes no sense to me at all except that it is jobs for the boys. Nothing more nothing less. But think on after the Uncle Robson debacle, sourmess, roeder the motivator and BSA it is good to see that we are still a laughing stock. Can this be good for business and hence success? Continuous Belly Laughing, and £10m For Alan Hutton Scott Murray and Sean Ingle Tuesday January 29, 2008 Guardian Unlimited DENNIS WISE: A TIMELINE [Ambient note - the following story should only be read while listening to this piece of music] Monday January 28, 2008: 11.59am Newcastle owner Mike Ashley goes to lunch. 3.17pm Mike Ashley finishes lunch. 3.18pm Mike Ashley decides to put on his replica shirt. 3.19pm-3.27pm Mike Ashley squeezes into his replica shirt. 3.28pm The replica shirt restricts Ashley’s lungs to such an extent that the blood supply to his brain is cut off. 3.37pm Tragedy is thankfully averted as Mrs Ellen Shearer, the suspicious-looking Newcastle tea lady, pops round with Ashley’s mid-afternoon buns, finds a distressed Ashley thrashing about, and cuts him out of the replica shirt (using the sword of Damocles she was on her way to hang in the manager’s office). 3.38pm It transpires Mrs Shearer did not in fact arrive in time to avert tragedy totally, as while the blood supply to Ashley’s brain was cut off, he phoned Leeds manager Dennis Wise, giving him a £1.5m-per-year rolling contract and a seat on the board as an “executive director on football-related matters”. 3.39pm-11.59pm Continuous belly laughing can be heard from the south-east, approximately 12 miles away. Tuesday January 29, 2008: 9am A new morning. Kevin Keegan insists he is “very happy” about the Wise affair, despite having said, upon being asked three months ago if he would assist then-manager Sam Allardyce as director of football, that Allardyce “would be a fool to let it happen and the guy who goes in would be a fool to accept it. The chairman, who is not a fool, would be a fool to go and do it, too. It doesn’t work.” 9.01am Keegan disappears from view for the entire day - absolutely not, y’know, to draft, y’know, a resignation letter, y’know, just in case - in a large puff of smoke which blasts from his lugs. 9.02am-12.13pm Continuous belly laughing can be heard from the south, approximately 100 miles away, where not only has never-popular ex-Chelsea legend Wise left Elland Road for good, Dave Bassett - blamed by many Leeds fans for a dreadful run of form which is jiggering their automatic promotion push - ends his stint in charge as caretaker boss after 36.73 seconds. 12.14pm Someone at Newcastle - Wise? Keegan? Shearer? Ashley? Cobley? - makes a verbal offer to Derby County for highly-rated 19-year-old winger Giles Barnes. 12.15pm-1.32pm Continuous belly laughing can be heard from the south, approximately 167 miles away, in the Pride Park manager’s office. 1.33pm Paul Jewell wipes a tear from his eye and gathers his composure long enough to explain: “When I see other players leaving for £4m or £5m what we want is not unreasonable. He is not going to leave here on the cheap because he is a player we would like to keep. But if Giles wants to go and play somewhere else, he wants to play in the Premier League, we won’t stand in his way, as long as that is right for the club.” 1.34pm Back up north, Newcastle suit Chris Mort tries to reassure Keegan and explain why the club have employed Wise: “Two of the conclusions of our strategic review, since acquiring the club, were that the club would benefit from having a football person involved at board level. Dennis would like to move away from day-to-day football management to a board role and, with his considerable energy and intelligence ...” 1.34pm and 17 seconds Continuous belly laughing can be heard from around the country, in 360-degree surround sound. 5.04pm Surround-sound laughter suddenly moves up an entire octave in pitch thanks to increased wave oscillations in the Leeds area, where guffawing becomes increasingly manic due to managerial appointment of Gary McAllister, a former fans’ favourite and more importantly Not Dennis Wise.

Sorry mate but you obviously don't have a full grasp on the Dennis Wise history and have some bias. Even on the basis just of the Swindon fact which is that he had them first place by a clear way which is a damn site better than just not getting relegated. And Poyet didn't just become his assistant this season, he was Wise's assistant since Swindon. Does this mean that Wise gets the blame for the relegation and Poyet gets the credit for the good form? Like i said you seem biased. Well I may be biased, but re Swindon both Poyet and Wise left in Oct 2006 from Swindon to Leeds yes swindon were doing well then (but didnt we have our best start to a season in Oct 2007 and that did not make BSA a good manager in anyones eyes). It is impossible to judge the quality of a team by Oct due to the lottery of the fixture lists. My blood is still boiling, if Wise arrives and makes a success I will not only swim the Pacific, Indian and Atlantic Oceans but also swim up the Tyne from here in Peru. I would love to be wrong but 30000 odd yorkies think the same. nerestng how when Poyet left the results have dipped dramatically. Biased maybe, but the grain of truth is out there.
-
Well Cahill i good in certain areas of thepitch> I d not think that he is the ort of player that would be favoured here. If BSA was till here Cahill would be an excellent addition, but as we are supposedly heading for free flowing football I do not think he is an option. So I rat him for certain jobs if you see what I mean
-
I am sorry supertoon but I have to disagree with you on your comments. Got Milwall to the FA Cup Final (Yes he did and well done for that) and near play offs (no they were not, they never were in a position to seriously challenge) had some very good players like Cahill (perhaps if you think Cahill is a very good player) did well at his short time at swindon (in what sense? dfidnt get them relegated true)and has took leeds near promotion despite 15 point deduction - no he took them to relegation, even his captain wanted to leave playing some of the worst football played at Elland road in the last 40 years. Poyet comes in and things make an improvement. I will concede that Wise chose Poyet and should take the credit for this. Leeds form since Poyet has left has been relegation form. Now if we are looking at ayne from Div 1 Martinez must be an option - low budget, great team ethic, always is positive and by all accounts are playing football on the deck with movement (this is almost unheard of in this division)
-
Not much gets my blood boiling, but this does to such an extent. Wise has no football ability. Those who think he has done a good job at Leeds yeah you are right he took them down playing awful football (only good to Leeds haters), only the professionalism of Poyet has made a difference his season, and guess what as soon as Poyet leaves what happens - you cannot make this up Basset comes in and their form has been relegation form since. To those who say he is a good coach WTF Poyet was the coach Not Wise. I cannot believe this nor can I believe that Kev would be that destructive towards us. Wise is a throw back to the bad old days of rut one football (and havent we all realised that that was no good). I know this rumour has been around Leeds for a while and their fans are praying for it to be true. How can such a talentless individualbe associated with us. Thinks er (well soumess) yes it could be true. Gutted by even the smallest grain of truth in this tbh. Off o have a shower hopefully when i get out all will be denied andwe can all dream happily again

Because the ACN is slap bang in the middle of the domestic season for most of these players perhaps? So that means he doesn't deserve to have adequate time to get his squad sorted? He has to wait until the thing starts before calling his squad together, purely to appease European football fans? Seems a little arrogant, no? Absolutely, but the fact of the matter is that the European leagues are much more important than the ACN, if they wanted preparation time then they should hold it the same time as the European Championships. So Africa should arrange their own Continental Championships to fit in with the European domestic leagues? TDF Yes they should, this Competition could be held at any time of the year - so historically it is in Jan and Feb, but one should not bite the hand that feeds you. Surely having a competition in this time would put clubs off buying African talent. It certainly did for Kalusha Bwalya - one of the greatest African players that I have ever had the fortune to see. He ended up only in Qatar. What a pity for the rest of us. I think that many managers would think twice about selecting an African player who represents his country - or even worse persuade him to change international allegiences.
-
Tim Krul and enrique - but guess that he is in the first team so is already reaching his potential, but think there is alot more from him in the years to come. Tim hopefully will be our No 1 for a long time in a couple of years. He has the lot for a goal keepeer and just needs some experience.
-
Well at least the FA will pay his wages for this amount of time - however long it turns out to be. He has not had the best of luck with injuries. I for one am quite pleased that he will be missing for the Croatia game as it may well give Smith a game up front for England!!!! There is always going to be accusation against little mic when he appears to always tie his come back games perfectly for England, so pleased that he misses this one. The thought now of Smith up front for us is even more horrific than missing Owen. I for one would welcome shola with open arms

This is a very difficult one, for sheer joy it had to be Grimsby, for excitement Cole first game, for relief the game against Leicester, for a treat the championship home tie vs barnsley - but my all time favourite was Aldershot Town vs S******land in 1987? I think, the shots twice came from behind to equalise making it 2-2 at half time. Somehow I had got myself in the Sunderalnd end and was finding it hard to keep quiet when two minutes into the second half Steve Berry (who i think played for the scum before) hit the ball first time from about 25 yards into the bottom right corner - such joy and the looks on their faces even better.
-
Congrats on the win. That and the draw in the other game put you guys in a really strong position. Sorry, for my ignorance but I assumed that Uruguay were the favorites in the group. Is that correct? The feeling here was that Uruguay were the clear favourites to the group, but of course with Venezuela being the hosts, they should have a chance. We were very worried about Forlorn and recoba - but with Recoba missing, and Peru playing a fabulous game, it was our night. We have just got rid of the crowd favourite Roberto Palacios who has retired (and in my opinion all that is worng with football here - showing off to please the crowd El Teatro (the theatre). Chile won 3-2, and could have had more - but do not be decieved, two very poor second half goals, one with two players unmarked at the far post, and another decent freekick left the keeper seriously flapping, this was after ecuadorean player somehow cleared off the chilean line. Some very dodgy refereeing decisions as per normal here. Looking forward to the next game.
-
Watched the Peru game last night, amid great scenes here in Lima. Probably the best that we have played in the last few years (except famous draws home and away to Brazil). Farfan was his usual self - quick and strong, Pizarro with deft flicks and a set up for a disallowed goal, and Paolo G. - looking a great prospect. My only concern is that we are after defenders and the likes of John Galliquio who was touted by Portsmouth - is big strong, fast, likes going forward but .... well he plays for my team, and I wouldn't dream of him playing for the toon.
-
Half-time 2-1 to Ecuador, shocking defending all round. Ecuador moving the ball quickly, Chile are a poor team though and have been for a fair while.
-
Would only want him as a back up to others already here, and I suppose his physical approach could reap rewards away from home against soem of the smaller clubs. But against the top clubs - no thanks, he just not possess enough quality, either as a striker or a link midfielder. Fergie is rarely wrong when releasing players. There is also a huge doubt as to whether he has recovered fully from that horrific leg injury. I hope that this is just one of those rumours that will see him eventually going to soemwhere that his talents deserve - back to Leeds or the mackems.
